Rory McIlroy's Bold Response to Heckler at U.S. Open Creates Buzz New

Rory McIlroy's Bold Response to Heckler at U.S. Open Creates Buzz

Rory McIlroy’s contentious relationship with golf spectators continued during a tense final round at the 2026 U.S. Open.  After a tee shot during his round at Shinnecock Hills Gold Club in Southampton, New York, on Sunday, June 21, McIlroy, 37, was heckled by an unruly spectator who screamed, “Get in the bunker!” The male fan added, “I hope you live there today!” As McIlroy was walking off the tee box, he looked at the fan and mocked him with a gesture about his large belly.  McIlroy’s response drew hearty laughter from most of the other spectators who witnessed his comeback. He shot a second-consecutive 73 on Sunday, ultimately finishing +6 for the tournament in a tie for 32nd place. The U.S. Open marked McIlroy’s return to New York after he and his wife, Erica Stoll, were subjected to relentless heckling and abuse during the 2025 Ryder Cup, held at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York.  “Look, I love playing around New York,” McIlroy told reporters at Shinnecock on June 15. “I love playing in this area. It’s got some of the best golf in the world.” McIlroy admitted the Ryder Cup was “a rough week for me at times.” (Stoll, 38, was hit by a drink thrown by a fan at the event, which pits Team USA against Team Europe.) “This is different — like, the Ryder Cup is us versus them, very partisan — like, it’s just a different beast,” the Irish golfer said.  McIlroy added, “But it is what it is. If that’s a price to pay to live the life that I’m living, then I’m OK with that.” A similar heckling situation happened at the 2026 PGA Championship outside Philadelphia last month, when McIlroy lashed out at a spectator after yelling out during his backswing. “Shut the f*** up,” McIlroy was seen responding, before pointing out the fan to tournament security.  After his final round on Sunday, McIlroy lamented his performance during the tournament, particularly his third round on Saturday, June 20.  "I think [Shinnecock Hills] won the battle over me at this point. Looking back on the entire week, I will rue the back nine yesterday,” he told BBC Sport. "I got myself to two under par after nine [holes] yesterday and the wheels came off and I played a really bad back nine and shot myself out of the tournament, so [I] was really disappointed coming away from the course last night.” McIlroy continued, "You try to come out here today positive and muster up the energy to put a good one in there, and then [after] a couple of bogies on the front nine, I was trying to race my way to the 18th green."

Why 'The View' Fans Are Urged to Speak Out Against FCC

ABC launched a campaign Monday to urge viewers to complain about the Federal Communications Commission’s investigation into daytime talk show “The View.”The network’s ad urges viewers to scan a QR code that directs them to the FCC’s website where they can leave public comments, according to the New York Times.“‘The View’ has welcomed your favorite guests for nearly 30 years. Now the FCC wants to control who is allowed the appear on the show. Tell the FCC to let the viewers decide,” ABC’s campaign states, according to the outlet. The FCC did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comments. The ad is running all day Monday in cities around the United States such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, and Fresno, according to the New York Times. In February, the FCC launched an investigation into “The View” regarding whether the show violated equal-time rules for politicians after it aired an interview with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico. The agency is also probing ABC over the diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives of its parent company Disney, according to the Wall Street Journal.US President Barack Obama appears on the ABC daytime television talk show, “The View” in New York, July 28, 2010, alongside hosts (L-R) Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Clive Davis: The Music Mogul's Legacy After a Life-Changing Epiphany New

Clive Davis: The Music Mogul's Legacy After a Life-Changing Epiphany

Music executive Clive Davis has died at age 94. The New York Times reported on Tuesday, June 22, that Davis died one day prior at his home in Manhattan. His death was confirmed by his family. Davis had recently been hospitalized with respiratory problems. A spokesperson for the mogul told TMZ in late May that he was suffering from “an upper respiratory infection and out of an abundance of caution, he was admitted to the hospital.” Davis rose to fame at Columbia Records and became one of the most powerful execs in the industry, where he worked alongside notable names like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow and more. His last position in the music industry was chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment. During his career, Davis won five Grammys — including the Recording Academy’s Trustees Award in 2000. In celebration of the awards ceremony, Davis also famously brought together music executives and artists for an annual party at the Beverly Hilton. He had held the event since 1976, with the 2021 party being held online due to the pandemic. In 2013, Davis got candid about his ability to hear talent in the industry. “I didn’t necessarily have an ear, but I think I developed one,” he admitted to Playboy magazine at the time. “Whether there was a natural ear that was triggered, I don’t know the answer to that. But when you see a Joplin or a Springsteen, you know. And the statistics start mounting and give you confidence. You think, ‘My God, yeah, I did say yes to Santana.'” In the same interview, Davis opened up about the moment when he first began thinking of signing musicians. “I had finished my freshman year of college and lost both parents within 10 months of each other. I had a support group with a sister and an aunt with whom I was close, but that was a tough time,” he recalled. “I was in a Jewish family and grew up in the public school system of New York, and there was a work ethic that I was left with that said the way you rise above your station is to become either a doctor or a lawyer. I never loved science, but I did love politics and government, so I became an attorney. By some accident, the company I worked for owned a record company. Soon I was running it.” He continued, “That’s when I went to the Monterey Pop Festival. It was the 1960s and the time of Haight-Ashbury, but I had no idea what awaited me. I thought the Monterey Pop Festival was a social event where I would see Simon & Garfunkel and the Mamas and the Papas and be with my friend [the producer] Lou Adler. My life changed there. I sensed a total social, cultural, musical revolution, and my peers in the music business had no idea. They didn’t see it; they just were not there. That’s probably the epiphany that changed my life. Janis Joplin was performing there, and I went on to sign her.”
