Ben Savage's Cryptic Post Stirs Talk Amid 'Boy Meets World' Rift New

Ben Savage's Cryptic Post Stirs Talk Amid 'Boy Meets World' Rift

As his former Boy Meets World costars’ publicly discuss their estrangement, Ben Savage shared a cryptic social media post about who he’s spending time with at this chapter in his life. “Good company,” Savage, 45, captioned two Instagram photos on Monday, June 15, that showed him proudly holding his daughter, 7 months, as he stood in a suit against a leafy backdrop. (Savage and wife Tessa Angermeier have not publicly shared the name of their daughter, the couple’s first child.) The post came one week after Will Friedle, who starred as older brother Eric Matthews to Savage’s Cory Matthews on the 1990s ABC sitcom, exclusively told Us Weekly that he wanted to speak about their estrangement “to his face.” Fellow costar Danielle Fishel, who played Savage’s on-screen love interest Topanga Lawrence, added that discussing issues with Savage in person would be “good.” After wrapping Boy Meets World in 2000 after seven seasons — and returning for a three-season spinoff from 2014 to 2016 — Savage has distanced himself from the show’s cast and wider Hollywood. A documentary titled Doc Meets World, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6, delved into the current divide between Savage and Boy Meets World alums including Rider Strong, who played Savage’s on-screen best friend, Shawn Hunter. “Ben refused to do the [“Pod Meets World” recap] podcast, but we still communicated with him, [were] still on friendly terms, we thought,” Strong, 46, claimed in the documentary. “He unfollowed us on Instagram and blocked our phone numbers. I feel sorry that he’s missing out on the experience that Danielle and Will and I are having.” (“Pod Meets World” hosts Strong, Fishel, 45, and Friedle, 49, launched the podcast in June 2022.) In Doc Meets World, Friedle is seen attempting to text Savage, showing cameras years’ worth of messages that he sent to him without garnering any response. He added that he tries to text Savage “probably at least once a month” in the hope of getting a reply one day. “I really do miss him. He’s arguably one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life,” Friedle is seen saying to Strong in the documentary. Fishel spoke to Us about Savage’s absence in the trio’s podcast in July 2022, claiming at the time that there was plenty of discussion about how to include Savage in the project. “We talked about all the different ways we could do it. And at the end of our conversations, Ben said, ‘I just don’t think it’s for me.’ And we get it. So we’re respecting his decision,” she shared. “And if he eventually wants to come on, we’ll leave that door open.” In a June interview with People, Fishel commented on Savage moving on with his life as a father. “I love imagining him in this new chapter of his life as a dad,” she told the outlet. “We [once] talked a lot about how he looked forward to being a dad someday.” Savage, for his part, has never publicly commented on any rift with his former Boy Meet World costars, but Bonnie Bartlett, the wife of William Daniels, who portrayed teacher and mentor George Feeny on the series, told Page Six in May that the cast didn’t always get along while filming. “They had some problems working together as … they grew up,” she told the outlet. “They’ve done well — all of them. That’s very unusual in a cast with children. They’ve done a good job of that. They’re good people. They’re all good people.”

Olivera, 37, later shared Heavey’s post on her Instagram Stories, adding, “Here early but safe and we couldn’t be happier." Heavey, who began dating Olivera in the spring of 2025 after meeting her nearly a decade prior, shared further detail of their son’s premature birth in his Instagram post. “He’s heading to summer camp at NICU for the first ⅔ months in this world but mom and dad can’t wait to bring him home hopefully soon,” he wrote. Addressing the pair’s decision to name their child Aidan, Heavey explained, “Fitting for his mom, Aidan translates to 'fiery one' or 'bringer of fire' and she was nothing short of amazing after getting contractions at 10pm on Friday, going to [the] emergency room at 3am in Southampton, then getting transferred by ambulance to Stony brook for a further 24 hours.” Heavey then reflected on his own headspace. “Dad was a nervous, terrified, sobbing mess but couldn’t ask for a better first Father’s Day,” he wrote. Two accompanying photos captured a glass sitting on a windowsill with “Promoted to Dad” written across it, and Olivera’s hand reaching through a hospital capsule to hold their child’s hand. The couple, who currently star on Summer House spinoff In the City, announced in a joint Instagram post on May 15 that they were expecting their first child. “Baby Heavey on the way,” the post was captioned as a photo of Olivera showing off her baby bump illustrated how far along she was. In the snap, Heavey stood behind his girlfriend while holding his hands on her stomach. Heavey spoke to Bravo earlier this year about how he met Olivera long before the pair embarked on a committed romance. “We both moved to New York around the same time, kind of after college, and we would have overlapped a little bit in regard to friend groups or parties back then. And we did meet back then,” he told the network, who published his recollection in an April article. Heavey also noted at the time that he was “living down in Miami” for a while before relocating back to New York when he reconnected with Olivera. The couple moved in together in January.

Rhaenyra Faces Heartbreak After Shocking Death in 'House of the Dragon'

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not proceed unless you’ve watched the “House of the Dragon” Season 3 premiere. Goodnight, sweet prince.“House of the Dragon” Season 3 opens by brutally killing another main character: Prince Jacaerys “Jace” Velaryon (Harry Collett), the firstborn son of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and the heir apparent. In the “House of the Dragon” Season 3 premiere, Jace (Harry Collett) became Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) second son to die. (Collett and D’Arcy are pictured above in the HBO show.) HBOJace (pictured with Rhaenyra in “House of the Dragon” Season 3) died in The Battle of the Gullet. HBOIn the episode, Rhaenyra is informed that ships are gathering and preparing to fight. She wants to fly her dragon, Syrax, into the naval battle — which is called The Battle of the Gullet.Jace insists that, because his mother is the queen, she shouldn’t risk going. He locks Rhaenyra in her rooms and disobeys her orders, flying his dragon, Vermax, out to enter the battle himself. When Jace and Vermax fly over the water where the ships are fighting, his cousin, Lady Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell), flies in on Sheepstealer, the wild dragon she recently tamed.Unfortunately, Jace had no idea that Rhaena was coming to aid him, and he gets both surprised and distracted. Jace (pictured in “House of the Dragon” Season 3) flew his dragon into the naval battle and got distracted. HBOJace (pictured in “House of the Dragon” Season 3) also disobeyed his mother Rhaenyra by entering the battle. HBOSince she’s new at flying a dragon and Sheepstealer is feral, Rhaena has limited control over the dragon. The beast keeps spitting fire at people erratically — no matter what side of the war they’re on. Rhaena and Sheepstealer distract Jace, leading to Vermax getting shot down by enemies on the ships below. Jace falls off a wounded Vermax. As he floats in the water, archers standing on a nearby ship shoot him in the chest with a bunch of arrows, killing him. His body is left floating in the water. Jace (pictured in “House of the Dragon”) is fatally shot with arrows after falling off his dragon and landing in the water. HBORhaenyra (pictured in “House of the Dragon”) was going to fly her dragon to the battle herself, but Jace locked her in her room. HBOJace was trying to help his grandfather, Corlys (Steve Toussaint, pictured in “House of the Dragon”) who was involved in the ship battle. HBODuring an HBO press conference Page Six attended, Collett said Jace had “reached his boiling point,” which is why he locked his mother in her room and entered the battle against her orders.“He’s very determined. He knows what he wants, he knows what has to do and he is not gonna stop anyone in his way to get it,” he added. But, in the end, Jace was stopped — by a distracting dragon and a hail of arrows.Sharako Lohar (played by Abigal Thorn, pictured in “House of the Dragon”) is on the enemy side, and also dies in the battle. HBOThe Battle of the Gullet is known as the bloodiest naval battle in Westeros history. (Toussaint’s Corlys is pictured on “House of the Dragon.”) HBOThe show is set nearly 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” In the years after “House of the Dragon,” the Battle of the Gullet becomes known as the bloodiest sea battle in Westeros history. The main forces fighting in the battle are the Triarchy, led by Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn) and Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall), violently clashing against Jace’s grandfather, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), and his forces.“House of the Dragon” follows Rhaenyra and her allies — which includes Corlys — fighting for control over the Iron Throne.Corlys (pictured in “House of the Dragon”) is a valuably ally to Rhaenyra. HBOJace (pictured in “House of the Dragon”) is Rhaenyra’s second son that has died — she has three more. HBOIn true “House of the Dragon” style, Jace isn’t the only death the Season 3 opener contained.Sharako and Tyland also get killed in the Battle of the Gullet.Tyland’s twin, Jason Lannister (also Hall) also gets beheaded offscreen, earlier in the episode. Jace is Rhaenyra’s second son to die, after her half-brother Aemond Targaryen’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon ate her son Lucerys “Luke” Velaryon (Elliot Grihault), at the end of Season 1. For those keeping count: Rhaenyra started with five sons, and now she has three. Her oldest three sons (including Jace and Luke) were fathered by Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr). Her younger two sons (who haven’t been onscreen much) were fathered by her uncle-slash-husband, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith).Showrunner Ryan Condal called Rhaenyra’s (pictured) story a “Shakespearean tragedy”. HBOCondal said “House of the Dragon” Season 3 (Rhaenyra pictured here) has a “darker mood.” HBODuring a press conference attended by Page Six, showrunner Ryan Condal said, “It’s a Shakespearean family tragedy,” and added, “things get darker and a bit bleaker.”This is the penultimate season, as HBO has announced the show will end with a forthcoming Season 4.“There is a darker mood that you’ll continue to see unfold over the rest of not just this season, but going into the final season as well,” Condal said.“House of the Dragon” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
