Kaley Cuoco's Surprise: Another Baby on the Way! New

Kaley Cuoco's Surprise: Another Baby on the Way!

Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey are expecting baby No. 2. “Completing our little family, what a dream come true!” Cuoco, 40, shared via Instagram on Wednesday, June 10. “This second time around journey has been a little windier in many ways, but wow we are so grateful for this moment!!” Cuoco posted a photo of her and Pelphrey, 43, with their 3-year-old daughter, Matilda. The family was crowded around a gender reveal cake, which had been cut into to reveal the color pink — meaning the couple was welcoming another daughter. “Little sissy on the way!!!” Cuoco concluded her post. “@tommypelphrey girl dad for life and yes, the last pic is our dainty princess giving us the middle finger!” Pelphrey shared a separate post on his own Instagram, showing off different photos from the same day. “Deep gratitude and joy — so much respect and admiration for @kaleycuoco on this journey of ups and downs,” he wrote. “(Doc gave her a little prod for the pic and this was her immediate response…. definitely my child).” Cuoco and Pelphrey took their relationship public in May 2022 and she announced her pregnancy in October of that year. Matilda joined their family in March 2023. After more than two years together, Pelphrey proposed in August 2024. The couple have yet to tie the knot. (Cuoco was previously married to Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016 and Karl Cook from 2018 to 2022.) “I believe in love because I’ve had incredible relationships,” Cuoco told Glamour in 2022 of her love life. “I know that they’re out there. I like being someone’s partner and having that companionship.” Cuoco’s social media post on Wednesday also featured several photos and videos of her growing baby bump. One image showed the couple’s dog perched on top of her stomach. Pelphrey cradled Cuoco’s bump in another photo with Matilda standing close by. Another picture had Cuoco wearing a tank top that read, “I cried today,” as she made a sad face at the camera. Months before Cuoco’s pregnancy announcement, Pelphrey called her a “great” mother during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the All the President’s Men benefit reading for the Stella Adler Foundation at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles. “Thank god she’s there because we have a little girl, and she’s a daddy’s girl, and I have a hard time saying no to anything,” he said this past January. “So we need Kaley to lay down the law.”

Jon Stewart's Bold Takedown: What Kristen Welker Did That Left Everyone Talking New

Jon Stewart's Bold Takedown: What Kristen Welker Did That Left Everyone Talking

Comedian Jon Stewart took aim at NBC’s Kristen Welker on Monday, targeting her response to President Donald Trump walking out of a “Meet the Press” interview on Sunday. On “The Daily Show,” Stewart discussed Trump ending the interview with Welker after calling her, and other major media outlets, “crooked.” The comedian overwhelmingly criticized the president during his segment but also honed in on the NBC host’s response to Trump walking out.“But this is where Kristen Welker nearly undoes all of the good work she did with one of the worst pleas in the history of journalism,” Stewart said.As Trump walked off, Welker said, “Mr. President, let’s … please, I traveled all the way to Wisconsin.”Stewart mocked Welker’s remarks, joking, “You can’t leave, sir! I was in business class! Mr. President, please, Wisconsin, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ is on an hour earlier here. These people are savages. Their Chinese restaurants only serve Szechuan, no Cantonese to be found. We’ll all die of consumption.”After criticizing Kristen Welker and other major media outlets, Trump walks out of a “Meet the Press” interview. NBC News“But you know what? Maybe finally this moment will give journalists permission to not back down. To not just leave it there and move on. And to finally be honest about Trump’s inability to be challenged in the moment,” Stewart said.He then showed a clip of Welker explaining that she and the president acknowledged difficulties posed during the interview due to bad weather.Stewart yelled, “You were inside! There was no challenge from the rain! F— that! No! Donald Trump was not thrown off by the ambient noise during the interview. In fact, ambient farm rain is the least disruptive noise environment he conducts interviews in!”The comedian condemned the president during his segment while also focusing on the NBC host’s response to Trump walking out. Comedy CentralMultiple times during the interview, the NBC host acknowledged the sound of the rain at the interview location.“This would be the first of multiple interruptions due to weather. Rain on the metal roof making it difficult for both of us to hear each other,” Welker said at one point. “As we’re having this conversation, we can hear a little bit of rain.”The president also acknowledged at one point, “a lot of rain.”“Donald Trump didn’t storm out because of the rain. He stormed out because he was challenged, not because he was distracted,” Stewart said. “So maybe it’s time we stop making excuses for that man in order to preserve access to his constant bulls—.”Welker said at the end of the segment that Trump agreed to another interview on “Meet the Press.”Stewart reacted, “There you go. And what are the odds that the result of that interview will be any different?”NBC News declined to comment when Fox News Digital reached out for a response.Welker explained that she and the president acknowledged difficulties during the interview due to bad weather, but appeared visibly agitated following Trump’s departure. NBC NewsTrump stormed out of the interview on Sunday after accusing NBC, ABC, CBS and CNN of being “crooked” during a final exchange over his claims about U.S. elections.“You’re a one-sided crooked network,” Trump told Welker. “Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time.”“I sat in the rain with you for an hour,” Trump said. “On and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”

Taylor Swift's Game Night Outfit Sparks Buzz—What's the Story Behind Her 'Stevie Knicks' Tee?

Taylor Swift’s sideline style is always a slam dunk. And all eyes were on the “I Knew It, I Knew You” songwriter ahead of Game 4 of the Knicks vs. Spurs NBA Finals on Wednesday, with Swift arriving at Madison Square Garden wearing a pun-tastic blue baby tee that read “Stevie Knicks,” along with a pair of crystal- and cutout-accented Area jeans, a Dior D-Motion bag and chain-trimmed Versace heels. The 14-time Grammy winner was joined by close pals Este and Alana Haim — who repped “Knickole Kidman” and “Knickelback,” respectively, with their matching shirts.Taylor Swift couldn’t resist squeezing some wordplay into her look for Wednesday’s Knicks game. She is going with friends.”While Swift’s become a fixture at fiancé Travis Kelce’s Chiefs games — almost always dressed in the Kansas City team’s colors or vintage merch — the couple made a courtside cameo in Kelce’s native Cleveland during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals late last month, watching the Cavaliers face off against the Knicks.Swift and Kelce coordinated in denim looks for the Cavaliers vs. Knicks game in Cleveland last month. Graham Platner's Record-Breaking Win Amid Scandals: What Does It Mean for Maine? New

Graham Platner's Record-Breaking Win Amid Scandals: What Does It Mean for Maine?

Graham Platner is on track to win more votes than any Democratic Senate candidate in Maine history in his challenge to take on GOP Senator Susan Collins, securing a major primary victory despite concerns from some Democrats that a series of scandals threatened to weaken his standing among Maine voters.Democrats view Maine’s Senate race as a top opportunity to flip a Senate seat in the 2026 midterm elections despite Collins’ previous victories in the Pine Tree State. Maine generally leans toward Democrats, with former Vice President Kamala Harris winning it by nearly 7 points in 2024, and 2026 is likely to be a more favorable environment for Democrats. But it’s unlikely to be an easy lift for Democrats. Collins has won in tough environments before due to her personal popularity and bipartisan credentials. Republicans, meanwhile, seized on Platner’s scandals to attack the Democratic nominee, and some polls indicated a tightening race in the days leading up to the primary. He is now tasked with winning over skeptical Democrats who may have voted for Collins in the past, ahead of the November general election.Newsweek reached out to the Platner and Collins campaign via email for comment.A Record-Breaking Primary WinPlatner has won more than 130,000 votes, accounting for nearly 72 percent of the vote, against Governor Janet Mills and David Costello, as of Wednesday morning, The New York Times reported. That sets a new record for a Maine Democratic Senate candidate in a primary.Previously, that was held by Sara Gideon, the Democratic nominee against Collins in 2020. She won her primary with 116,264 votes—or about 71.4 percent of the vote, according to data from the Maine Secretary of State office.Graham Platner speaks at a primary election event in Blue Hill, Maine, on June 9, 2026. | CJ Gunther/Getty ImagesWhile Gideon may end up with a higher vote share depending on the remaining ballots, Platner did set a new record for votes received in a Democratic primary.Other candidates haven’t come particularly close to Platner and Gideon—Collins’ challengers ran unopposed in the primaries in 2002 and 2014. In 2008, Democrat Tom Allen won the Senate primary with 69,772 votes.Maine’s other Senate seat is held by Senator Angus King, an independent who caucuses with Democrats. There have still been Democratic primaries, but turnout has been low with most in the party opting to support King’s reelection.Platner’s Polling Compared to Gideon in 2020Platner starts the general election in a stronger position than Gideon did six years earlier, according to polls. The latest poll from Tavern Research, which surveyed 1,642 adults from June 5-8, showed Platner up 2 points on 51 percent, compared to Collins' 49 percent. A Fabrizio, Lee & Associates poll, which surveyed 800 likely voters from June 1-3, showed Collins and Platner tied at 46 percent.Earlier polls gave Platner a more sizable advantage.A Public Policy Polling survey showed Platner up four points on 49 percent, while Collins received 45 percent. It surveyed 670 registered voters from June 2-3.A University of New Hampshire poll, which surveyed 1,250 likely voters from May 21-25, showed Platner up nine points, at 51 percent, to Collins' 42 percent.Meanwhile, a Pan Atlantic SMS Group poll, which surveyed 827 likely voters from May 8-18, showed Platner with 48 percent and Collins with 41 percent. In 2020, some early polls showed Collins up, but by July, Gideon established a polling lead and would go on to lead every poll before Election Day. Polls were generally within the margin of error, and most did not show her reaching 50 percent support, a key metric in Maine because of its use of ranked-choice voting. In July 2020, a Public Policy Polling survey gave Gideon a 4-point lead with 46 percent to 42 percent. It surveyed 1,022 Maine voters from July 2-3, 2020. A Data for Progress poll showed Gideon up with 44 percent compared to Collins’ 43 percent. It surveyed 866 Maine voters from July 24 to August 2.Mark Brewer, a professor of political science at the University of Maine, told Newsweek that Platner has more enthusiasm and energy among the party’s base than Gideon did in 2026, but still may be seen as a weaker candidate due to Gideon’s strong fundraising. She also had no scandals on the campaign trail.“He’s definitely stronger than Gideon in some ways, especially in terms of enthusiasm and the energy he’s generated, but he comes with this kind of personal scandal and baggage that is something Gideon didn’t have. Does it come out to be a net loss at the end of the day? I don’t know. I guess we won’t know the answer to that until November,” Brewer said.Collins' 2020 VictoryDespite Gideon’s polling lead, Collins ended up winning reelection with about 51 percent, compared to Gideon’s 42 percent.Progressive independent Lisa Savage received 5 percent of the vote, while a more conservative independent, Max Linn, received less than 2 percent. Democrats believe the race may have been closer had ranked-choice voting been in place, but that proved irrelevant, as Collins won an outright majority.Maine is generally seen as a more difficult state to poll because of its independent electorate, large rural population, and use of ranked-choice voting.Platner’s Fundraising in MainePlatner has raised more than $16 million since launching his campaign, and had more than $2 million in the bank as of May 20, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Collins, meanwhile, reported nearly $11 million in contributions and still had more than $9.6 million on hand in her pre-primary filing. His fundraising is not as high as Gideon's in 2020. In 2020, Collins reported total contributions of more than $15 million and $5 million on hand in her pre-primary filing. Gideon, at the same time, had reported more than $22 million in total contributions and had more than $5 million on hand.As of April 2026, Gideon still had nearly $2.7 million in the bank, according to an FEC filing. She has slowly spent those funds over the years, but how she plans to use them in the future remains unclear.National Headwinds Could Boost Platner in MainePlatner could benefit from a “blue wave” fueled by President Donald Trump’s declining approval rating. Midterms are seen as a referendum on the sitting president, so the Trump administration’s unpopularity will be a challenge for Collins amid concerns about the cost of living and high gas prices amid the war in Iran.Collins, a moderate, has distanced herself from Trump over the years, but Platner and Democrats are likely to connect her to more conservative Republicans. He tested that message during his victory speech on Tuesday.“Susan Collins may have started her career decades ago in Washington with good intentions, but she has become just as spineless and corrupt as the establishment she now serves,” he said. “She got elected promising to elect Roe v. Wade, only to turn around and put a justice to the Supreme Court who overturned it. She lied to us.”Trump has never been particularly popular in Maine. He lost the state by 7 points in 2024, 9 points in 2020 and 3 points in 2016. While he has made inroads in the rural, northern part of the state, cities like Portland and the more liberal southern region have powered Democratic victories in the Pine Tree State.Maine Senator Susan Collins departs from a policy luncheon with Senate Republicans in Washington, D.C., on May 19, 2026. | Anna Moneymaker/Getty ImagesCollins has managed to win in the past due to her own personal popularity. She is unique in the Senate as the only Republican representing a state that routinely votes for Democrats in presidential races. There are no longer any Democrats representing states that routinely support Republicans on the presidential level after West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s retirement and Jon Tester’s loss in Montana in the 2024 election cycle. Her vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh took a toll on her approval rating, which fell from +21 points in the first quarter of 2018 to -12 points by the fourth quarter of 2019, according to Morning Consult polling.Platner Scandals ExplainedPlatner drew scrutiny after The New York Times made allegations about his behavior in past romantic relationships. One former girlfriend of Platner's, Lyndsey Fifield, a conservative who has worked for Republican campaigns, alleged that Platner had engaged in physically threatening behavior during their relationship over a decade ago. She alleged that Platner twisted her arm behind her back during an argument, shoved her into a bedroom and blocked her from exiting.Fifield told the outlet that Platner "never hit me, he never punched me." The Times said it could not independently corroborate the incidents alleged by Fifield.Platner has strongly denied those accusations, saying allegations involving physicality are "simply not true" and describing them as politically motivated. The Times interviewed six of his former girlfriends, three of whom said they support his candidacy.Days earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, reportedly informed Platner campaign aides during an internal vetting exercise in August that he had sent sexually explicit text messages to several women. The disclosure was intended to ensure the information did not catch the campaign off guard.Genevieve McDonald, former state legislator and Platner campaign political director until October, who had been cited as bringing the information forward, previously told Newsweek: "I can confirm the details of what has been reported and what Graham Platner’s campaign has already admitted to on the record, that he was sexting multiple women while married and that the campaign tried to assess that as an election vulnerability when his wife brought it to the campaign’s attention."Platner has dismissed the reports as "gossip" and has acknowledged strains in his marriage, though he framed them as resolved."Amy and I went through something hard—because of me. We did the work, and I’m grateful for her every hour of every day," he said in a written statement released Sunday.Gertner said in a video posted by Platner's campaign late Saturday that they have a "great marriage" and that "being married is hard."Platner earlier faced controversy over the revelation that he had a tattoo resembling the Totenkopf, or "death’s head," a symbol adopted by the Nazi SS. He has apologized and previously told Newsweek: "I absolutely would not have gone through life having this on my chest if I knew that—and to insinuate that I did is disgusting. I am already planning to get this removed."Past Reddit posts have also drawn scrutiny. In one, Platner said he "became older and became a communist." In another, in response to a person who posted that white people "aren't as racist or stupid as Trump thinks," he replied: "Living in white rural America, I’m afraid to tell you they actually are."He told Politico last year: "I made dumb jokes and picked fights. But of course I’m not a socialist. I’m a small business owner, a Marine Corps veteran and a retired s*** poster."Maine election law provides a mechanism for replacing a general-election nominee after the primary. Under Title 21-A, §374-A, a political party may name a new candidate if its nominee withdraws by 5 p.m. on the second Monday in July, which falls on July 13 in 2026.If that happens, the party then has until 5 p.m. on July 27 to select a replacement nominee. The process is handled internally by the party. Platner, however, has not signaled any interest in withdrawing despite concern about his candidacy from some Democrats.Platner has so far been able to weather these scandals, but they could still come back to bite him in the general election, Brewer said.“He’s going to be dealing with a different electorate than he was in the primary, and maybe Democrats and unenrolled voters who lean toward the Democratic Party were able to overlook some of these things in the goal of getting a better candidate for November, but I don’t know that all of the voters in the general election are willing to overlook it,” he said.Republicans Issue Warning About Maine Senate RaceThe National Republican Senatorial Committee, in a memo reported by Fox News, warned it would be a “fatal mistake to assume Platner is too damaged to win.”“He is currently leading. Vice President Harris won the state by 7 points, and the National Democrats view this as their only path to regaining control. Senator Collins has won tough races before and can win this one, but only if we meet this moment with total urgency,” the memo reads.Platner Emphasizes Change in Victory SpeechIn his victory speech, Platner emphasized that he has changed since those earlier actions and pledged to earn the trust of disappointed Mainers."If you believe, as I do, that we can change our politics and change our country, then you must also believe that people can change. And the reason I believe that is because I have lived it," he said.

Travis and Taylor's Secret $3M MSG Wedding: What's Really Happening?

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have paid about $3 million to rent out Madison Square Garden for their three-day wedding celebration, according to TMZ.The three-time Super Bowl champion and the superstar songstress, who are set to tie the knot on July 3, reportedly reserved the world’s most famous arena at an estimated $1 million per day: the first for an early setup, the second for the day of their wedding event and the day after to break it all down.Kelce and Swift, who’s performed eight sold-out shows at MSG over the course of her career, did not strike a deal with Madison Square Garden and are paying retail price, despite this being the biggest celebrity wedding arguably ever.<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="885" height="590" src="https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/06/travis-kelce-attend-cleveland-cavaliers-128625121_d87211.jpg?w=1024" alt="Taylor Swift (L) and Travis Kelce attend the Cleveland Cavaliers Eastern Conference Final game against the New York Knicks in Cleveland, Ohio Saturday May 23, 2026. Unseen Drama: What Happened Behind the Scenes at the 'Summer House' Reunion? New

Unseen Drama: What Happened Behind the Scenes at the 'Summer House' Reunion?

The season 10 reunion of “Summer House” delivered plenty of on-camera drama, but according to Bravo Insider, some of the most memorable moments happened when filming paused. The three-part reunion wrapped up one of the Bravo hit’s most talked-about seasons, bringing together Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, Ciara Miller, West Wilson, Lindsay Hubbard, Carl Radke, Jesse Solomon, Mia Calabrese, KJ Dillard, Dara Levitan, Ben Waddell, Bailey Taylor and Levi Sebree.Unseen ‘Summer House’ Reunion Moments Revealed After Season 10 FinaleBefore filming officially began, the cast shared jokes, compliments and a few surprising comments about the season.Bailey Taylor was the first cast member on stage alongside Andy Cohen and described her first season as “an extremely transformative experience.”Carl Radke later joked that he had hoped the reunion set would be modeled after Cooper’s Beach rather than the familiar backyard setup from the Hamptons house. Cooke also joined the early conversation, prompting Cohen to tell the group it was his “fantasy” to have the cast visit his own Hamptons beach house someday. As cast members continued arriving, Hubbard made several jokes about the changing group dynamics. After Amanda Batula pointed out that it felt “weird” sitting on a different couch than Cooke after years together, Hubbard quipped, “Next year, it’ll be me and Carl back together.”Radke’s response immediately got attention.“It’s possible,” he replied.Inside the ‘Summer House’ Reunion Before Cameras Started RollingOnce everyone was seated, the joking continued.Hubbard showed off her reunion look and encouraged everyone to “take it all in,” prompting Cooke to joke that he enjoyed watching Radke’s reactions. Radke complimented Hubbard’s appearance and recalled a hug they had shared backstage before filming. When Miller arrived, several cast members complimented her look before cameras officially began rolling.During one filming break, Cohen complimented Dillard’s shoes, calling them “very nice.”Sebree later joked that she and Taylor looked like the bushes they dressed up as during one of the season’s pranks. After lunch, Cohen checked in with Hubbard and asked for an update on her daughter, Gemma.“She’s a teenager!” Hubbard joked. “She’s crawling, she’s sprinting, she climbs. Oh my god, this girl.”The reunion wrapped on schedule, something that delighted Cohen. The cast celebrated with a toast and Girl Scout cookies before gathering for official reunion photos and a round of selfies on stage.Amanda Batula Learns New Details About West Wilson’s Past RelationshipWhile the behind-the-scenes moments provided plenty of laughs, the reunion’s biggest revelations centered on Wilson’s dating history.During a heated discussion, Cohen questioned Wilson about his relationship with ex-girlfriend Meija Moreno and whether she believed they were exclusive.“I obviously wasn’t the clearest,” Wilson admitted. “I told her that it was not an exclusive relationship in like, November or December. I’ve been not clear with a zillion women that I’ve dated prior to this.”The conversation intensified when Wilson acknowledged that Moreno believed they were in an exclusive relationship.“I mean, no, she thought that we were,” he said.Miller immediately challenged him.“You’re lying! Cause you sent her flowers on Valentine’s Day,” Miller said. She continued, “You were saying, ‘I love you’ to this woman. You can’t even look at me because you know you’re (expletive) lying.”Batula then revealed that some of the information being discussed was new to her.“I had some of this information, not all of it,” Batula said.Still, Batula explained that she was not concerned about the Valentine’s Day flowers because she and Wilson were not involved at the time.Kyle Cooke Voices Concern About Amanda Batula and West WilsonThe discussion shifted when Cohen asked Batula and Wilson about the status of their relationship.Wilson revealed that they did not become exclusive immediately after acknowledging their feelings for one another.“Actually, not since we expressed feelings, no,” Wilson said. The response left much of the cast confused.Cooke responded with a stunned, “What?” while Miller questioned why they would continue navigating such a public relationship without clear boundaries.Wilson later clarified that he and Batula became monogamous following their March 31 relationship announcement. He also admitted feeling pressure for the relationship to succeed.Cooke then expressed concern for Batula.“We were really close,” Cooke told Wilson. “I considered you one of the best things to ever happen to this show, because I considered you one of my best friends.”Cooke added that he worries about Batula’s position in the relationship.“I do still have love for Amanda, and I do still care for her. I am very concerned,” Cooke said.He argued that Batula entered the relationship during a particularly vulnerable time and suggested she has become isolated from parts of the group.Andy Cohen Presses the Couple About Their FutureAs the discussion continued, Cohen asked Batula a question many viewers have been asking themselves. Was the relationship worth it?“That’s an impossible question to answer in this moment,” Batula replied.Cohen then asked whether the couple was in love. Before Batula could answer, Wilson responded.“We are not using the word love right now. It’s been two months, three months.”That answer prompted another revelation.“He told me he thinks he loves her,” Solomon said.Wilson did not deny it.Instead, he emphasized his commitment to the relationship.“I am very much committed to this relationship,” Wilson said. With Bravo already announcing a special “The Aftermath” episode featuring additional conversations filmed after the reunion, it appears the story between Batula, Wilson, Miller and the rest of the cast is far from over.Fans can watch the uncensored “Summer House” season 10 reunions on Peacock.

Ryan Reynolds' Shocking Story: The Accident That Changed Everything

Ryan Reynolds is opening up about a terrifying accident from his teenage years that left him hospitalized for a month. The “Deadpool” actor shared the story while filming a lighthearted video for GQ alongside his friend and fellow actor Rob McElhenney. The pair spent the segment attempting to assemble IKEA furniture, leading to plenty of laughs and unexpected revelations.GQ teased the interview on social media with the caption, “new Ryan Reynolds lore just dropped 👀.”Reynolds Opened Up About the Scary Accident During the conversation, Reynolds recalled a decision he made when he was 18 years old that ultimately may have saved his life.“You know, when I was 18, I left a bar, and I’d had a beer, you know, and I walked back and I looked at my car for a second,” Reynolds said. “I thought you know what, I’m not gonna drive anywhere. Even if it’s four blocks home, absolutely not.”Instead of getting behind the wheel, Reynolds chose to walk home.“But instead I turned around, started to cross the street and I was run over by a drunk driver,” he continued. “That was the last time I ‘Why God’ as much as this.”The actor emphasized how ironic the situation felt at the time.“I got run over by a drunk driver after making a firmly, positive and wise decision for a young 18-year-old male,” he said. The accident resulted in serious injuries.“Spent four weeks in the hospital,” Reynolds revealed. He went on to describe the severity of the crash.“Broke every bone in my left side. He hit me so hard, his car was not operational.”When asked about the incident, Reynolds summed it up simply: “Yeah, very bad.”Fans ReactThe revelation surprised many fans, who had never heard the story before.“That’s wild! It seems like the funniest folks have been through some tough stuff,” one person commented online after watching the clip.Others expressed relief that the actor recovered from the accident and went on to build a successful career in Hollywood. Many fans also focused on the humorous nature of the interview itself, which featured Reynolds and McElhenney struggling through the furniture-building challenge.“This whole interview was too funny,” another viewer wrote.Reynolds Previously Tackled IKEA Furniture The IKEA-themed segment also reminded some fans of another memorable Reynolds moment from years ago.Back in 2015, the actor filmed a comedic video in which he attempted to assemble a baby crib before eventually calling customer service for help.“Oh, hi there! I’m calling about the Hensvik baby crib,” Reynolds joked during the video. “No, no, no! There’s no problem with it. I think the biggest issue I’m having right now is that the crib didn’t come assembled.”He continued the bit by pretending to be overwhelmed by the instructions.“There’s just an enormous amount of hardware that’s come with this unit and I gotta be honest with you I’m having a real hard time putting this thing together.”While Reynolds is known for his quick wit and self-deprecating humor, his latest revelation offered fans a glimpse into a much more serious chapter of his life.

Why Are These Two Self-Defense Cases Dividing America? New

Why Are These Two Self-Defense Cases Dividing America?

The cases of Karmelo Anthony and Kyle Rittenhouse are both rooted in arguments about lethal self-defense, but their trials ended with very different conclusions. To supporters of Anthony, a Black teenager just sentenced to 35 years in a Texas prison for murdering white 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in an altercation at a track meet, there is a clear racial double standard.Rittenhouse, who is white, was also just 17 when he shot three men, two of them fatally, in Wisconsin amid the disorder of a Black Lives Matter protest. He was acquitted.Perhaps inevitably, these cases have polarized in opposite ways, depending in large part on the political and racial biases of the beholder. It’s an observation not lost on Rittenhouse.“The same people that are screaming self-defense for Karmelo Anthony are the same ones that are screaming that I’m a murderer or white supremacist or a Nazi for defending myself against three white guys,” Rittenhouse told Newsmax.Progressive commentator Ryan Shead framed Anthony’s case as self-defense while characterizing Rittenhouse’s as “murders.”“If only we knew what the difference was?” Shead wrote on X, sharing images of the two, alluding to the fact that one is white and the other Black. There are parallels between the two cases. Anthony crying in court was a visual echo of Rittenhouse’s own emotional response when taking the stand. But there are also some very clear and significant differences, even if Americans have learned to decide whose fear sounds reasonable before all the evidence arrives. The Comparison Begins With DifferenceRittenhouse was acquitted in November 2021 after his lawyers argued self-defense in the Kenosha shootings that killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz.Rittenhouse had gone to Kenosha, armed with an AR-15-style rifle, during unrest after police shot and wounded Jacob Blake. The teen said he had gone to help defend local businesses against vandalism during the protests. While there, he faced physical assault by some of the protesters, one of them hitting him with a skateboard. Once self-defense was at issue, Wisconsin put the burden on prosecutors to prove the shootings were unjustified.Anthony’s facts moved through a different legal frame. He had gone under Memorial High School’s tent after a rain shower. His coach testified that his own team’s tent had not arrived on the morning bus.It was there that a confrontation ensued with Metcalf, who was unarmed and trying to push Anthony out from under his school’s tent. The altercation ended with a single stab wound to Metcalf’s chest that the county medical examiner testified was not survivable.Texas law permits deadly force when a person reasonably believes it is immediately necessary to protect against unlawful deadly force or certain grave crimes.A separate provision strips the justification from anyone who provoked the other person’s force, unless he abandoned the encounter, or clearly communicated an intent to, and the other person kept coming.Anthony’s defense team made the argument that the killing was a moment of fear-induced passion as he came under attack by Metcalf, and was not a pre-meditated act of violence. It was, they said, an act of impulsive self-defense.But the prosecution’s argument in Anthony’s case was about proportionality.“You don’t get to meet a shove with a stab, especially if you provoke the shove,” prosecutor Bill Wirskye told jurors in his closing argument.Wisconsin law also turns on reasonable belief and necessity, but it permits force to prevent or end unlawful interference, and reserves deadly force for imminent death or great bodily harm.Rittenhouse has long maintained that his life was at threat when he was assaulted by protesters in Kenosha.Jurors in Rittenhouse’s trial had one significant benefit over those in Anthony’s: the incidents were caught, clearly, on multiple cameras. Anthony's jury had surveillance video too, but the decisive seconds under the tent were far harder to read.Teenagers Become Adult PoliticsThe two cases became symbols before most Americans could have explained the underlying law. Rittenhouse’s case became a flashpoint in debates over guns, vigilantism and racial injustice.Anthony’s case became a national story shaped by bail, misinformation and race long before a jury was seated.Within two weeks of Metcalf’s stabbing, MAGA voices were raging over Anthony’s bond, while his defenders were already invoking Rittenhouse. The weapons inverted the politics. Rittenhouse's rifle arrived politically loaded—he carried it into a city already convulsed by protest and unrest, and everyone who saw it knew what it meant and why he was there.Anthony's knife was just a pocketknife in a backpack until the moment it wasn't; it became politically loaded only after the stabbing, once the case was absorbed into fights over race, school violence and criminal justice. The comparison works only when it respects those differences.Self-defense law depends on microscopic facts, but the politics depends on tribal recognition. One case passed through gun-rights, riot and Black Lives Matter politics, the other passed through race, school-safety and perceived-double-standard politics.Rittenhouse and Anthony are not legal twins, they are political mirrors.Fear as a Team SportRittenhouse testified, “I didn’t do anything wrong. I defended myself,” while prosecutors described him as the aggressor who never faced an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm.Anthony did not take the stand. His lawyers told jurors he acted in a “split second of fear and chaos” after being confronted and pushed by the larger Metcalf; prosecutors called the stabbing a provoked, unjustified “sneak attack.”The testimony cut both ways. One witness said Anthony reached into his bag and warned, “Touch me and see what happens,” and that Metcalf replied, “I’m not going to fight you”.A defense witness recalled hearing Anthony say afterward, “I told him not to touch me.” A coach who spoke to Anthony on the track testified that Anthony told him, “He put his hands on me. I stabbed him.”Those facts do not collapse into one verdict. They expose a reflex. Many Rittenhouse supporters treated his fear as the whole moral universe, while many Anthony supporters treated his fear as the missing context. And many Rittenhouse opponents treated his decision to bring a rifle to Kenosha as the fact that swallowed his claim of self-defense, while many Anthony opponents treated the knife and the school setting as the facts that swallowed his.The right is inconsistent when it treats Rittenhouse’s fear as sacred and Anthony’s as fake. The left is inconsistent when it treats Anthony’s fear as context and Rittenhouse’s as morally irrelevant. The same sentence keeps changing sides: He was scared; fear is no excuse. But the law cannot work that way.Race Matters, But So Do FactsRace belongs in the Anthony story because it was central to public attention. The trial drew national scrutiny because Anthony is Black, Metcalf was white and none of the jurors were Black, though some were people of color. The defense raised a Batson challenge after prosecutors struck three Black female prospective jurors; prosecutors gave a nonracial explanation tied to the women’s occupations as educators, and Judge John Roach allowed the strikes. The trial’s own principals resisted the racial frame. Wirskye told jurors in his opening that the case was not about race or self-defense. After the verdict, Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, said it “was never about race or politics.”Neither statement settles the question—prosecutors and grieving fathers are not neutral arbiters of what a case is about. But both cut against the assumption that every courtroom fact arrives pre-racialized.That controversy deserves scrutiny because jury confidence is part of the justice system’s operating machinery. It also requires precision.A racial dispute over jury selection does not make Anthony’s trial evidence identical to Rittenhouse’s. A society can take racial distrust seriously without flattening two different self-defense records into the same case. There’s a strong counterargument to this whole comparison: Rittenhouse faced a series of confrontations amid unrest in Kenosha, while Anthony stabbed another student during a school-track dispute under a tent. That distinction defeats lazy equivalence, but it still leaves the political mirror intact.Tribal LoyaltySelf-defense law slows a story down, asking who moved first, who touched whom, who had a weapon, who threatened what, who provoked, who could retreat and what a reasonable person would have believed when force was used. The politics of self-defense, on the other hand, speeds a story up and blurs important nuances: rifle or knife, protest or track meet, white or Black, right-coded or left-coded, victim or villain. Two ideas can be true at once.Rittenhouse’s acquittal can be legally understandable under Wisconsin’s self-defense framework, while his presence in Kenosha with a rifle remains reckless and corrosive civic behavior.Anthony’s conviction can be legally understandable under Texas’s deadly-force standard, while a 35-year sentence for a teenager and a no-Black-juror panel remain grounds for scrutiny. That scrutiny cuts both ways: jurors were offered a “sudden passion” finding that would have lowered the sentencing range to two to 20 years, and they rejected it; Anthony will also be eligible for parole after serving half his term.Americans say self-defense is universal until the wrong defendant claims it. Then “reasonable fear” becomes whatever the tribe needs it to be. The jury room still has rules, even if the country outside keeps trying to replace them with tribal loyalty.

Joan Cusack's Surprising Life Away from Hollywood: What She's Been Hiding New

Joan Cusack's Surprising Life Away from Hollywood: What She's Been Hiding

Joan Cusack has particular reasons for stepping back into the limelight in recent years. “I think because I’ve worked for a long time, and I feel so honored to be able to work in this industry,” Cusack, 63, told Variety at the Tuesday, June 9, premiere of Toy Story 5. “But it’s also great to live your life and raise your kids and be in Chicago and be a normal person. It’s, kind of, priceless.” Cusack, who returns to the spotlight as the voice of Jessie in Toy Story 5, lived in Chicago well before finding success as an actress. “My dad's job brought [my parents] to Chicago for a couple of years, which they thought was a pretty good place to raise a family. They were first-generation Chicagoans,” Cusack previously told The Guardian in 2011. “I still live in Chicago, as does my mom. It is unusual for an actress to live there, but it is where I grew up and my parents were right, it is a good place to raise kids.” Cusack has been married to attorney Richard Burke, with whom she shares two sons, since 1999. “I want [my kids] to see that I have things I feel passionate about because it is such a great feeling to really love something,” the actress recalled to The Guardian at the time. “My parents had five kids and we are all close. We were a traditional family.” She continued, “My mom didn't have a job, she was just raising kids. My dad went out to work. He was a really funny man, very silly. He loved comedy. We would watch Mel Brooks movies and Monty Python and he would always find some humor in everything. He made home movies of us, and he would show them in the backyard. He was great fun.” As for Cusack, she travels back and forth from her acting jobs to her family in Illinois. She also opened a lifestyle store, Judy Maxwell Home, in the Windy City in 2011. “My kids were young, and I didn’t really want to take acting work, because I always had to go away,” she told the New Yorker in 2019. “I was trying to think of something to do, because I’m not really a big cooking person. … I also think, if you’re a woman now, it’s so fun to have a shop of your own. You hone your instincts in the world, versus at home. This is a little lab of my own instincts about being in the world.”
