Trump's Bold Warning to Gasoline Retailers: What Lies Ahead? New

Trump's Bold Warning to Gasoline Retailers: What Lies Ahead?

President Donald Trump on June 30 demanded that gasoline retailers immediately lower prices at the pump, warning of “big problems” if they fail to pass along the benefits of falling crude oil prices to consumers. In an early-morning post on Truth Social, Trump said gasoline prices remain too high while U.S. crude oil is trading at about $68 per barrel and the price is continuing to decline.“Gasoline Retailers must get their Prices down, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump wrote. He urged retailers to “start targeting around the $2.50 a Gallon number,” while accusing some stations of price gouging.Trump said that if gas stations don’t lower prices at the pump, “big problems lie ahead.”He also singled out California, saying the state should reduce gasoline taxes that he argued are inflating prices for drivers.Related Stories“Soon the Tax will be higher than the Product itself,” he wrote, adding that Californians were being “abused” by their state government.Trump’s warning comes less than a week after he said he had directed the Department of Justice to investigate whether gasoline retailers and oil companies were failing to lower pump prices in line with the sharp decline in crude oil prices following the U.S.–Iran ceasefire agreement. At the time, Trump accused companies of “gouging” consumers and said retail gasoline prices were not falling quickly enough, even though crude prices were dropping “like a rock.”Gas Prices Continue to EaseNational gasoline prices have been trending lower in recent weeks as global oil markets stabilized following the easing of tensions in the Middle East.According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average price for regular gasoline stood at $3.91 per gallon on June 29, the fifth consecutive weekly decline. The average was down from nearly $4 a week earlier and was more than 50 cents lower than one month ago, when drivers were paying about $4.51 per gallon.AAA said declining crude oil prices and improving fuel supplies have helped push prices lower, although demand is expected to rise as a record number of Americans prepare to travel over the Independence Day holiday weekend. The U.S.–Iran conflict disrupted crude supplies in the Persian Gulf, driving prices to multi-year highs. However, since the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17, agreeing to extend a ceasefire to give room for negotiations on a lasting peace deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, oil benchmarks have fallen sharply from peaks of more than $126 per barrel for Brent and nearly $120 for West Texas Intermediate. After five straight monthly increases, analysts have cut their 2026 oil price forecasts for the first time since the Iran war began, following the U.S.–Iran deal reopening the Strait of Hormuz and easing concerns over prolonged supply disruptions.A monthly Reuters survey of 31 economists and analysts forecast that Brent crude would average $84.50 per barrel in 2026, versus $90.44 projected last month. They predicted that West Texas Intermediate would average $79.49 per barrel, down from May’s projection of $84.63.However, some analysts said that lingering geopolitical risks mean that the potential remains for crude prices to rebound.“We believe that the market is being too optimistic over the speed of the supply recovery as well as its sustainability,” Warren Patterson, ING’s head of commodities strategy, wrote in a note on June 29.“Furthermore, we have seen a significant tightening in global oil inventories since the start of the conflict, which leaves the market more vulnerable relative to the pre-war environment.”Some energy experts have said that gasoline prices typically do not fall as quickly as crude oil prices because of factors such as delays in refining, transportation, and distribution.Chevron Chief Financial Officer Eimear Bonner said last week that lower crude prices should eventually translate into cheaper gasoline for consumers but noted that the process takes time.“There is a lag between ... reductions in oil prices and when that shows up at the pump,“ she told CNBC on June 25. ”But we expect that prices will come down as things continue to normalize.”Jack Phillips contributed to this report.

Facebook Users Buzzing Over Latest Privacy Settlement Payout New

Facebook Users Buzzing Over Latest Privacy Settlement Payout

Facebook’s $725 million privacy class-action lawsuit settlement keeps on giving — as users of the social media platform are expected to rake in more settlement money soon.Facebook users who were active on the platform between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022 and signed up for the class action started to receive emails about the new payments starting early June.“This additional settlement payment will be issued in the next 3–4 business days. The payment method you selected to receive your settlement payment was ACH,” read the email reviewed by The California Post.Facebook agreed to pay millions of users to settle allegations of privacy infringement, without admitting any wrongdoing. AFP via Getty ImagesThe first rounds of payouts were made in September 2025. The United States District Court for the Northern District of California approved a second payout distribution in May 2026 — users are being paid over a period of four weeks. However, the payout is not a life-changing amount of cash as it involved millions of users. Facebook had more than 240 million US users in 2022. While all were eligible, payouts are only to be sent out to those who filed a claim. The first round of checks was distributed in September 2025. Obtained by CA PostMark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms agreed to shell out a whopping sum of $725 million to settle the lawsuit. REUTERSSome people took to other social media platforms to boast about the not-so-grand settlement payment. “Thanks to the Facebook privacy settlement I was able to buy TWO slices of pizza from 7-eleven today,” a payee wrote on X.Another X user posted, “A Facebook class action settlement paid me $7.31! However shall I spend it?”The class-action lawsuit, sparked by the Cambridge Analytica scandal of 2018, was brought by Facebook users alleging that the social media giant misused their data and sold it to third parties. Why This Heat Wave Puts Kids at Greater Risk New

Why This Heat Wave Puts Kids at Greater Risk

The extreme heat forecast across much of the United States this week poses a particular health danger for kids, who are more susceptible to extreme temperatures. In Minneapolis and Chicago, the heat index -- or what the temperature feels like with humidity -- has already reached triple digits, and the heat will continue to spread from the Great Lakes to the South and the central Gulf Coast in the coming days. Later in the week, as the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the heat index is forecast to rise along the Eastern Seaboard, from New York to Florida.A heat index of 103 degrees Fahrenheit or above can lead to heat-related illnesses when people are exposed to the temperature for an extended period of time or when doing physical activity in the heat, according to the National Weather Service.A child cools off in a fountain during hot weather in Chicago, June 29, 2026.Nam Y. Huh/AP PhotoWhy are kids more at risk in extreme temperatures?Children are more susceptible than adults to the health effects of extreme heat because they cannot regulate their body temperature as well as adults, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. When it comes to extreme heat, children may become sick quickly and suffer health effects including heat exhaustion, heat cramps and heatstroke, according to the AAP.Children with asthma are particularly vulnerable to high temperatures and poor air quality and should take special precautions, including staying in air conditioning when possible and having medication ready, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Heat-related symptoms to watch for in kidsSymptoms of heat-related illness to watch for in babies and kids include faintness, extreme tiredness, a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or above, intense thirst, headaches, fever, nausea, vomiting, hyperventilation and skin numbness or tingling, according to the AAP.If a child is showing symptoms of heat-related illness, they should be brought to a cool place and provided with cool water or a sports drink that contains electrolytes. After consuming fluids, a child can eat salty foods like pretzels or potato chips, according to the AAP.Other tips include taking off a child's clothes and/or applying a cold wet towel or sponge to their skin to help regulate their body temperature.Medical attention should be sought if a child is unable to consume fluids, has a temperature above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, does not seem to be improving, is losing alertness or has prolonged muscle cramps, according to the AAP.How to protect kids from heatParents and caregivers should do their best to keep kids indoors and in air-conditioned areas in periods of extreme heat, and never leave a child alone in the car. It's also recommended that kids stay well-rested and hydrated, focusing on water intake for children ages 6 months and older.Kids between the ages of 1 to 3 need around four cups of fluids per day -- which can be water or milk -- while kids ages 4 to 8 need around five cups of fluids per day. Kids ages 8 and older need to drink seven to eight cups of fluids per day, according to the AAP. The total amount though, may need to increase based on high temperatures. The NWS also recommends eating cool foods -- like fruits and vegetables -- to help beat the heat, as well as dressing kids in loose, lightweight and light-colored clothing and making sure they are wearing SPF for sun protection.Cool baths and showers can also be a way to cool kids' body temperatures. If spending time in the pool, make sure to supervise your children to prevent drowning.Parents and caregivers can also plan ahead for potential heat-related dangers by entering their zip code in the CDC's HeatRisk tool to see the heat index in their area.

Madison Square Garden’s corporate employees are banned from the arena ahead of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s highly anticipated wedding, Page Six has exclusively learned.“MSG is off limits to all corporate employees this week,” a source told us Tuesday, adding that the employees “were not given a reason why it’s a no-go zone.”According to our source, the employees will be able to return to work July 5.Reps for MSG, Swift and Kelce did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.Madison Square Garden’s corporate employees are banned from the arena ahead of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, Page Six has exclusively learned. Why Mamdani-Backed Candidates Are Shaking Up New York Politics New

Why Mamdani-Backed Candidates Are Shaking Up New York Politics

A trio of progressive Democrats sharply criticized billionaires on their way to victory in House primaries in New York City. The clean sweep for candidates endorsed by far-left New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday drew attention to economic populism as affordability remains a top issue for voters ahead of the midterm elections. In Manhattan and Brooklyn's 10th District, incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman lost in a landslide to former comptroller Brad Lander, who vowed to "put working people first – not billionaires."Darializa Avila Chevalier, a community organizer, defeated incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat in New York's 13th District, which covers upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Claire Valdez, a one-term state assemblymember, beat Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso in the primary race for New York's 7th District.Valdez and Chevalier, both of whom are democratic socialists, called for a four-day work week and a pause in the construction of AI data centers, among other measures. To be sure, center-leaning candidates won Democratic primaries on Tuesday in upstate New York and Utah. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, who are both Democrats, won general elections last year with moderate campaigns touting their own plans to ease price woes. Here's what to know about economic proposals put forward by Lander, Chevalier and Valdez:Tax on billionairesAll three of the victorious progressive House candidates support a tax on wealthy individuals.Lander "strongly supports" the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act, a bill proposed by Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren that would tax the net wealth of households with over $50 million, according to Lander's website.Lander also backs an ultra-wealth tax on individuals worth over $1 billion, as well as the Equal Tax Act, which matches tax rates for capital gains and ordinary income over $1 million.Chevalier supports the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act and the Equal Tax Act. Similarly, Valdez has voiced support for taxing billionaires as means of funding social programs. The top opponents in each of the three primary races held similar positions. Both Espaillat and Goldman had signed on to the Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act and the Equal Tax Act. Reynoso said he would "fight to tax the rich – a lot."Proponents say wealth taxes could raise tax revenue from affluent Americans in a position to spare funds. Critics, on the other hand, warn wealthy individuals may move assets abroad or prove less likely to start businesses or other ventures. For his part, Mamdani sought a two-percentage-point tax increase for residents making more than $1 million, which would have raised the tax rate for high earners in New York City from roughly 3.9% to 5.9%.Instead, New York enacted a tax on second homes in New York City valued at $1 million or more.Pause on construction of AI data centersAll three progressive House candidates back a moratorium on the construction of AI data centers. Many of the nation's largest companies have poured funds into the chips and data centers necessary to operate AI.Popular ReadsThe data center projects have drawn ire from critics who say they drive up residential water and electricity bills in some areas, while offering limited job gains. Proponents of the sector point to its role in fueling economic growth and ensuring the competitiveness of U.S. tech firms.New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYC Congressional candidate Claire Valdez embrace during a primary-night watch party, June 23, 2026, in Brooklyn.Michael M. Santiago/Getty ImagesSen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y, have proposed the AI Data Center Moratorium Act, which would pause the development of data centers until the federal government imposes industry regulations.Goldman, Lander's opponent, signed onto the AI Data Center Moratorium Act. By contrast, Espaillat – Chevalier's opponent – has not supported the bill. Reynoso's position on a data center moratorium could not be immediately found. On her campaign website, Valdez said she would "fight to hold major technology corporations accountable, protect our workforce from the harms of AI, and ensure that new technologies benefit communities, not just corporate executives."Four-day work weekChevalier and Valdez support shifting from a standard workweek of 40 hours spread across five days to one lasting 32 hours across four days.Such an approach, Valdez says, would reclaim the "economic gains of automation for workers."Spain, Iceland and South Africa are among the nations that have implemented a trial of the four-day workweek for select companies and workers. In California and the U.S. House, lawmakers have introduced bills that would set the standard workweek at 32 hours. The Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act, introduced in the U.S. House in March 2023, garnered support from eight members. Neither Goldman nor Espaillat was among the backers.Reynoso's position on a four-day workweek could not be immediately found, though last month he spoke in support of unionized Kickstart employees seeking a four-day workweek as part of their labor contract. Some experts previously told ABC News that a combination of escalating market pressure and legislative activity could ultimately bring a nationwide four-day workweek standard; others said such an outcome would prove nearly impossible, at least anytime soon.Labor law reformThe share of unionized workers has fallen nationwide in recent decades. All three of the New York City progressives say they want to reverse that.Lander, Valdez and Chevalier each support the PRO Act, a labor law reform measure with strong backing among U.S. labor unions. The legislation would ease the path toward forming unions and winning labor contracts. The latest version of the bill, known as the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act, boasts the support of 215 House members, including at least one Republican. Both Goldman and Espaillat signed onto the PRO Act. Reynoso, meanwhile, vowed to "champion the PRO Act."On her campaign website, Chevalier calls for passage of the PRO Act, so that "everyone who wants a union can form one."

Dianna Russini's Shocking Comment About Vikings QB Goes Viral

Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy seemingly caught a stray from former NFL insider Dianna Russini when she was pulled over by police in January for texting and driving, as seen in video footage of the incident making rounds online.Russini — who resigned from The Athletic after Page Six published photos showing her and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel holding hands and hugging while at an Arizona resort in March — was on her phone while driving because she was breaking the news that Bills head coach Sean McDermott was getting fired. The former ESPN insider said McCarthy “sucks” — although she did not specifically mention him — when she learned the officer was a Vikings fan.Dianna Russini, who resigned from her insider job with The Athletic in April amid the controversy, claimed that she had video-called an unnamed NFL coach of the favorite team of the cop who pulled her over and it helped get her out of a ticket.Read more: https://t.co/WSfDhVFg5s pic.twitter.com/GlVcT3095M— New York Post Sports (@nypostsports) June 30, 2026“Obviously you were on your phone for a while … I understand you’ve got a job,” the officer said.“You know who I was on the phone with? Conor Kennedy's Extravagant Wedding Plan Outshines Taylor Swift's

Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend is planning to top her July Fourth weekend wedding in a big way.Swift is leasing New York City’s Madison Square Garden for her nuptials to NFL player Travis Kelce over the July Fourth weekend — an event sources claimed will be “bigger than the Met Gala,” promising a who’s-who of A-list celebrity attendees. Not to be outdone, Conor Kennedy, 31, is marrying Brazilian pop star Giulia Marinho, 26, with their nuptials set to take place against the backdrop of her country’s most iconic landmark, the nearly 100-foot Christ the Redeemer statue that stands above Rio de Janeiro.Conor Kennedy and his pop star wife Giulia Be got married in LA in March but are planning a three-day blowout in her hometown of Rio de Janeiro. FilmMagicConor Kennedy and his wife are renting out Christ the Redeemer for a “blessing” dinner in Rio for their wedding celebration in October. Donatas Dabravolskas – stock.adobe.com“One of the first things I said [to Conor was], ‘I love you, but I’m not getting married in Massachusetts,'” Marinho said in an interview with Brazil’s Gshow magazine earlier this month.“I think Brazil is one of the best places to get married. We know how to do it, we give ourselves body and soul, and the party doesn’t end at 10 p.m. This is something really important that I wanted to show people.”The couple, who already had a small civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March, is heading to the bride’s hometown for a three-day extravaganza that includes a lavish “blessing” dinner at the statue on Corcovado mountain, which stands 2,300 feet above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the city.Conor Kennedy dated Taylor Swift in 2012, when she was 22 and he was 18. Swift bought a home in Hyannis Port near the Kennedy compound, which she later sold. Shutterstock / Robert Scott ButtonHundreds of guests from around the world are scheduled to converge on the beachfront city, according to Marinho, who is known professionally as Giulia Be.Conor is the son of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He and more than 150 members of the Kennedy family and friends from the groom’s side are expected in Rio for the wedding, the magazine said. President Trump is also invited, The Post revealed last year.Kennedy dated Swift for a few months in 2012, when she was 22 and he was 18. The pop star even bought a seven-bedroom home for $4.8 million near the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port, although she later sold the property at a $1 million profit, according to reports.Conor Kennedy (right, next to popstar wife Giulia Be) is the eldest son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (above, between wife Cheryl Hines and daughter Kick Kennedy) and Mary Richardson, who died in 2012. FilmMagicConor is the eldest son of RFK Jr. and second wife Mary Richardson, who died by suicide in May 2012. The couple had four children, and Kennedy has two other children from his first marriage to Emily Black.Conor and Marinho, who have been together since 2022, wanted to commemorate Richardson with a shared tattoo, she told the magazine.“We are both Catholic, and his mother died when he was 17 years old, and I thought it would be cool to do some kind of homage to Mary,” Marinho said. “So we did an Immaculate Heart of Mary [tattoo], which is a symbol that we knew we would never regret.”Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are planning the wedding of 2026 at Madison Square Garden, on July 3. Bruce Glikas/WireImageIn addition to the dinner at Christ the Redeemer, the Roman Catholic wedding ceremony will take place at Rio’s Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, a rococo landmark in downtown Rio built in the 16th century.Another dinner party is scheduled to follow at a mansion in the city’s Botanical Garden neighborhood. The couple got matching Immaculate Heart of Mary tattoos to commemorate Conor’s mother, Mary Richardson Kennedy, who took her own life in May 2012. giulia/InstagramBe, who is from Brazil, said she had no interest in getting married in Massachusetts. Getty Images for Roc Nation“I’m from the most beautiful city in the world, and this was my only chance to really bring the whole family and friends to Brazil, to show them the best of Brazil,” said MarinhoLike Conor, who works as a lawyer in California, Marinho’s family is also involved in politics. Her father, entrepreneur Paulo Marinho, is a former state senator in Rio de Janeiro.Although he once supported right-wing former President Jair Bolsonaro, he switched his allegiance to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s Marxist leader, who has been in power since 2023.
