Argentina vs. Texas: The Sizzling Debate Over World Cup Steaks New

Argentina vs. Texas: The Sizzling Debate Over World Cup Steaks

DALLAS -- Drop thousands of Argentina fans into Texas for the World Cup and the debate is inevitable. It's not about who has the best team or whether Lionel Messi is the best player at the tournament. It's about who produces the best, most succulent steaks, and how to prepare the meat. That's right: There's a beef about beef between two of the top cattle-raising areas of the world, where steak is deeply ingrained in diet and culture. Texas ranks No. 1 in the United States in beef production and the U.S. is second only to Brazil globally, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Argentina ranks sixth. It's a high-steaks question: Who does do it best?“Argentine beef is simply unbeatable. The savory texture, the style of the cut — there is no competing with it,” said Carlos Eduardo Barahona, 64, an Argentine chef who's lived in Texas since 1998. From the cheapest cuts to the most expensive, Argentina is tops, asserts Barahona, who has worked in restaurants across Argentina, Uruguay, and Texas. “You can make an (Argentine) asado with the cheapest cut in our country and you will enjoy it. Here, you can use the best meat, like tenderloin, and depending on its source, it can turn out tough, inedible or tender. But our beef has a completely different flavor profile,” Barahona said.Argentine beef cattle is mostly grass-fed on open pastures, taking longer to reach the point it is ready for market. The result is leaner meat with intense earthy flavors. Predominantly grain-fed beef in Texas and the U.S. will have more marbling — the streaks of intramuscular fat that act as internal baster and make the meat juicy and tender — and a sweeter flavor.“There’s no better beef than U.S. beef, particularly Texas beef,” said Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller. But Argentine beef is very good too, Miller said. Thanks to Texas.Miller said his agency opened a marketing office more than a decade ago to connect Texas' cattle raisers with ranchers in South America, notably in Argentina.“I don’t want to disparage our friends in Argentina, but we have helped them improve,” he said.“Their genetics were lacking. We do have them up to pretty high quality. We sold them a lot of semen, embryos, and breeding stock,” Miller added. Miller congratulated Argentine farmers on improving the quality of their cows.“Their herds have American genetics in them, so they should be good,” Miller said.Argentine fan Gonzalo Herrera browsed packaged meat at a Walmart in Arlington, Texas, after watching Messi score two goals in a win over Austria. He shrugged at the whose-beef-is-better debate.Popular Reads“Honestly, I don’t see a massive difference,” Herrera said as he packed four T-bone steaks into his shopping cart. “The key is knowing exactly which cuts to buy and finding the equivalent of what we eat in Argentina,” he said, shaking his head at the $45 price.“Prices are higher here,” Herrera said. The beef banter just as easily boils down to recipes and preferences in style and thickness of cuts. It's a matter of taste, quite literally, when it comes to seasoning, searing, smoking, butter, pepper, sauces and so forth. At Corrientes 348 Argentinian Steakhouse in Dallas, steaks are prepared with just salt and mesquite charcoal, said assistant manager Emmanuel Tobon.“There's a big difference. Texans use a lot of pepper, they use butter, they use a little barbecue (sauce),” Tobon said. “(Argentines) like to bring all the flavor of the steak by only using salt.”Argentina still has at least one more match to play in Dallas, on Saturday. Fans of the Albiceleste have been packing the restaurant, seeking a quick taste of home during the World Cup.“They have been enjoying the Texas culture,” Tobon said. “(But) it has been a great pleasure to have all of them, to make them feel like home.”Argentines are fiercely proud of their steak culture, recipes that have been passed down for generations, and the “sacred” work of the grill master at large family meals, he said. For Fernando Garcia Morillo, an Argentine from Buenos Aires who now lives near Miami, the meat from both countries is great. But he longs for the traditions of home whenever he orders steak in the U.S.“I order just salt, no pepper, just plain,” Morillo said. “Sometimes they use a lot of sauce.”He dismissed any notion of a beef between the U.S and Argentina.“Maybe there's a rivalry as usual against Brazil, our neighbor,” he said. “I love the U.S. meat.”___Vertuno reported from Austin, Texas.___See more of AP’s World Cup coverage here

Taylor Swift's Wedding Rumors: Is MSG Hosting a Secret Ceremony? New

Taylor Swift's Wedding Rumors: Is MSG Hosting a Secret Ceremony?

It’s one hell of a “Love Story.”Page Six is told that Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are set to perform at what some insiders are calling Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s “Wedding-palooza” at Madison Square Garden. The bride’s first ever Billboard hit, when she was just 16 years, was called “Tim McGraw.”Swift, who is renowned for giving fans “Easter egg” clues ahead of her album releases, dropped a major hint when she wore a shirt reading “Stevie Knicks” to Game 4 of the NBA Finals on June 10 at MSG.Stevie Nicks is set to perform at a celebration of Swift and Kelce’s marriage. Los Angeles Times via Getty Images“I’ve heard Taylor invited so many people it’s going to be bigger than the Met Gala,” one industry insider said. This week, City Hall confirmed there is a permit at MSG for a Friday bash for more than 1,000 people, as the industry insider told us guests had been invited by text and email.Page Six also confirmed there is a permit for a more intimate event for 100 people on Thursday — with a source saying it’s a rehearsal dinner. And many in the singer’s crowd have long believed the actual vows will take place before then. “I think it’s possible it’s already happened,” said the industry insider. In Nashville, where Swift moved when she was just 14 to launch her music career, everyone is abuzz about the celebrations.Taylor Swift sang with married Nashville stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill during a Nashville stop on her “Reputation” stadium tour in 2018. McGraw is set to perform at the wedding, and one of Swift’s early hits was called “Tim McGraw.” Getty Images for TASSwift even wore a T-shirt emblazoned with ‘Stevie Knicks’ for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Getty ImagesTaylor Swift and Travis Kelce will take over NYC next week for their wedding, according to sources. AI image generated by Adobe FireflyTennesseans Kenny Chesney and Kesha have both canceled tour dates around the wedding days and rumors are rampant that it’s so they can attend, along with Dierks Bentley and members of Little Big Town and Sugarland.“Kelsea Ballerini is definitely going,” said one music source.Nashville sources have heard “there’s going to be multiple performances” at the Friday event at MSG — with rumors that Paul McCartney, who famously took the stage with Swift at the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary celebrations back in 2015, will perform. However, the former Beatle is currently in the UK, we’re told.Kenny Chesney — seen with Swift in 2007 — canceled his upcoming performances at The Sphere in Las Vegas, and Nashville insiders are buzzing that it might be so he can attend the Swift and Kelce wedding. WireImageBut his fashion designer daughter, Stella McCartney, is one of Swift’s friends and believed to be invited — and may have a hand in designing one of the bride’s looks. Indeed, Swift was recently seen wearing an outfit by McCartney in wedding white. While Vogue undoubtedly came calling about featuring Swift and her gown, we’re told that she won’t be posing for the fashion bible.Invited guests include Swift’s high school BFF Abigail Anderson, who is set to be Maid of Honor; Este, Danielle and Alana Haim; Zoe Kravitz (whose fiancé, Harry Styles, a Swift ex, is on tour); Ed Sheeran; Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley; Mariska Hargitay; and Cara Delevingne. Suki Waterhouse, Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Bradley Cooper, and Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.Ed Sheeran (left, seenwith Swift and producer Aaron Dessner) will be a wedding guest — and it’s rumored he may perform as well. Getty Images for The Recording AcademyAs Page Six previously reported, Blake Lively is not on the guest list after she and onetime BFF Swift fell out amid the actress’s court battle with Justin Baldoni.Kelce, meanwhile, has his Kansas City Chiefs teammates and staff, including Patrick Mahomes, George Kittle and coach Andy Reid. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk and his fashion designer wife, Kristin, are on the list. The industry source said various “SNL” cast members are invited; Swift has performed as a musical guest on the show five times, hosted once, and made several cameos, while her fiancé has hosted once and made a cameo.Emma Stone — who Swift’s song “When Emma Falls in Love” is said to be about — is expected along with her husband, “SNL” writer Dave McCary.Paul McCartney had been rumored to be a performer at the wedding, but we’re told he’s in the UK. WireImageWhile Kelce and Swift are set to throw a party to end all parties, those in Swift’s orbit have questioned whether they will tie the knot ahead of Friday.Even some who know Swift say the couple’s choice of venue surprised them.“Something this big and lavish is somewhat antithetical to what those closest to her would have imagined for her wedding,” a source in the singer’s orbit told Page Six. “And that’s why many feel the MSG event will be a celebration of marriage that will have already occurred.”Stella McCartney will attend the wedding, a source said, and could also design one of the bride’s gowns. @stellamccartney/InstagramSecurity insiders at Manhattan’s’ City Clerk’s Office — where you have to obtain a $35 wedding license to get married in New York State — insisted this week there had been no sign of a Swift license within recent days, adding, “we would know.”A New York State marriage license is valid for 60 days, with a 24-hour waiting period before a ceremony can be legally performed — though it’s possible to get judicial waiver to bypass that.Gigi Hadid is on the guest list, alongside boyfriend Bradley Cooper. Getty Images for The Met Museum/VogueCity Hall confirmed to The Post that a permit application was filed with the Street Activity Permit Office for July 2 to July 4, with 33rd Street blocked off.A source who has worked within MSG told Page Six that it’s easy to seal the venue and ensure that comings and goings are top secret.“When you come down 33rd Street and turn left from the East, there is what looks like a garage. You then drive up a ramp which takes you right to stage level,” said the source.”Nobody will see a car coming in and who is being dropped of — it’s the ultimate in privacy.”Kelsea Ballerini will be a guest. Getty Images for The Recording AcademyAt stage level are dressing rooms that Swift could use for herself and her bridal party, the source said. And rumors continue to fly that Swift has organized the ultimate Easter egg hunt — speculating that guests will be picked up at MSG Thursday and taken to another location for a ceremony, then brought back for a big party.“I keep hearing the MSG rumors are all a fake out,” said one music insider.Swift is well known to be firmly in charge of everything she does — from buying back her recording masters to embarking on history’s highest-grossing tour.Swift and Lainey Wilson duetted at Kelce’s annual training camp this past week — and the country singer may be at Swift and Kelce’s wedding. NFL and te_university// Instagram“I’ve learned not to ask questions. Taylor’s is in charge — I do as I’m told!” said one person who has worked closely with the “Love Story” star.Swift showed she was the boss on her Disney docu-series, “The End of an Era,” which took fans behind the scenes of her last tour, which raked in $2.2 billion. However, there were also moments that shed light on just how hard it is to live in the full glare of the spotlight. In an illuminating scene, Swift told singer and good friend Ed Sheeran that she was planning to take off for two months after her London dates, adding, “I just don’t want to be tracked like an animal. I’ve felt very hunted lately.”Swift’s BFF Selena Gomez will be at the wedding with husband Benny Blanco. CBS via Getty ImagesEveryone who could be involved with a wedding is staying tight-lipped, including Swift’s wedding planner, Mark Seed.“We’ve not heard anything definite,” said Michael Wekselblatt, the President of IATSE Local One, the union representing stagehands, carpenters and technicians in the entertainment industry across NYC. “We have full jurisdiction [at MSG] …If something’s happening, we’re there.”As San Francisco 49ers player George Kittle shared this week, “I actually asked Travis [about the MSG reports] last night and he laughed at me … ”

Mom Demands Action After Daughter's Tragic Suicide Sparks Outrage New

Mom Demands Action After Daughter's Tragic Suicide Sparks Outrage

A heartbroken mom whose teenage daughter died by suicide after the girl’s biological father had sex with her is demanding Gov. Gavin Newsom crack down on California’s sex crime laws after the disgusting dad escaped with just one year in county jail.Carolina Sandoval told The California Post she wants lawmakers to pass legislation in her daughter Makayla Rene Settles’ name, after Stephen Vincent Chavez, 41, was sentenced to one year in county jail and three years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony incest and furnishing alcohol to a minor.Carolina Sandoval and her daughter Makalya Rene Settles.“It is ridiculous. It’s not justice,” Sandoval, 40, said of the sentence. “I’m going to fight to change these laws because no other family should have to go through what we’ve gone through.”Settles, 18, had moved from her childhood home in North Carolina to Moorpark, about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles, to live with her father. In July of 2025, Chavez plied her with alcohol before having sex with her. Makayla died by suicide five months later.Prosecutors ultimately did not file a rape charge, saying the evidence only supported the incest conviction. Chavez insisted the encounter was consensual. Carolina SandovalSandoval said other victims of sexual abuse who attended Chavez’s court hearings blasted Newsom for what they believe is a weak approach to prosecuting sex crimes.“They let me know this is just how he is. If anything, what happened with Makayla proves all of them right. It makes sense why everybody’s so angry,” she said. “I would love for him to take the time to look at the entire case and see what went wrong and where changes can happen for other victims.Makayla Rene Settles with her biological father Stephen Vincent Chavez. They relive everything over and over, only for the end result to come out like this. It’s a slap in the face.”Sandoval said prosecutors later told her a rape charge could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt despite her daughter giving detectives multiple statements, including a recorded video interview.“But once she died, they told me her evidence was no longer valid,” Sandoval said.“They even have an audio recording of Makayla telling her cousin what happened. You can hear the heartbreak in her voice. They had all this information, but they said it wasn’t enough.”California Governor Gavin Newsom speaking at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 94th Annual Meeting. David Buchan for Ca PostThe sentence came despite prosecutors asking the judge to impose the maximum three-year state prison term over time in county jail. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said Chavez admitted abusing a position of trust and acknowledged that Makayla was particularly vulnerable. He also must register as a sex offender for 20 years.Erin Meister, chief deputy district attorney in Ventura County who oversees the sexual assault unit, told the Post that evidence to bring a potential rape charge against Chavez was studied by senior prosecutors. She added that it was “peer reviewed by legal experts from another county, all of whom arrived at the conclusion that incest was the only felony charge supported by the facts, the law, and the evidence.”Makayla (left) and her mother Carolina Sandoval (right) laughing and hugging.Makayla and her mother, Carolina Sandoval.Neama Rahmani, former federal prosecutor and president of Los Angeles-based West Coast Trial Lawyers, added to the Post: “Dead women tell no tales, and unfortunately, Chavez unjustly benefited from his daughter’s tragic suicide.”“Without her testifying and establishing lack of consent, the District Attorney didn’t think it could prove rape. It is a miscarriage of justice and sends the wrong message to other perpetrators of incest and sex abuse.”Newsom’s office said it couldn’t comment on decisions made by local law enforcement or courts. Makayla Rene Settles in a hospital bed with multiple tubes and devices, surrounded by three women tending to her hair. Courtesy of Carolina Sandoval“The suggestion that Governor Newsom does not take sexual assault seriously is simply false,” the governor’s office said in a statement to the Post. “Throughout his administration, the Governor has consistently signed legislation, invested in survivor services, strengthened protections for victims, and expanded resources to prevent sexual violence and support survivors.”Carolina called California’s sex abuse and rape laws “a huge gray area,” adding, “Something has to change. It feels like they cater to the predator more than the victim.”If you or someone you know is affected by any of the issues raised in this story, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or text Crisis Text Line at 741741.If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, you can dial the 24/7 National Suicide Prevention hotline at 988 or go to SuicidePreventionLifeline.org.Download The California Post App, follow us on social, and subscribe to our newsletters California Post News: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, WhatsApp, LinkedInCalifornia Post Sports Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, XCalifornia Post Opinion California Post Newsletters: Sign up here!California Post App: Download here!Home delivery: Sign up here!Page Six Hollywood: Sign up here!

Will also alleged the reality TV star then re-entered the home — where Victoria and her father had been living — and claimed he “began talking about himself having a gun.”Victoria’s father further said he sustained injuries including a broken thumb, broken elbow, ruptured disc and heel laceration.Tom Sandoval’s ex girlfriend Victoria Lee Robinson’s father, Will Robinson, filed for a counter-restraining order against the reality star on Friday. Dritan Goxhaj's Claim as a UÇK Veteran Sparks Controversy New

Dritan Goxhaj's Claim as a UÇK Veteran Sparks Controversy

E unë aty nuk u prezantova as me emër e as me mbiemër, e as si ish-pjesëtar i UÇK-së. UÇK-ja s’ishte subjekt as i protestës, as i prezantimit e as i fjalimit.
