The Ivy League dad who threw his two young children off a Pennsylvania parking garage before jumping after them died from multiple blunt force injuries, officials revealed, as his death was ruled a suicide.

Patrick Lynch, 42, his son James, 8, and daughter Caroline, 6, were found dead near the foot of a five-story parking garage in the affluent Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, in what authorities have since described as “not an accident.”

The father’s cause of death was confirmed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office to CBS News Thursday — one day after the office revealed that little Caroline and James had also died from blunt force injuries, but their deaths were deemed homicides.

The children’s deaths were deemed homicides.

First responders pronounced James dead at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, just one minute before his little sister, according to the ME’s office.

The kids’ grieving mother has since defended her husband as a “wonderful dad” whose mental state had spiraled after losing his job three months ago, according to a screenshot of a now-deleted social media post published by the Daily Voice.

“My husband made the irreversible decision to kill our two children and himself this evening,” Anna Lynch reportedly wrote on Facebook Tuesday.

“He was laid off in August and shortly after became depressed,” she continued – and tragically revealed that things had seemingly begun looking up when he agreed to seek help.

“I suggested he to go to a therapist [sic], which he agreed to go to and had an appointment booked for 11/4. One day too late.

“I never thought this is how our story would end,” the heart-wrenching post read.

Still, Anna Lynch remembered her husband as “a wonderful dad,” as well as her son’s passion for skiing and daughter’s love of Skittles and slime.

“Rest in peace, my angels,” she wrote, and encouraged her followers to “check in on your loved ones.”

Patrick Lynch – who studied math and economics at Dartmouth College before earning a master’s degree in business administration from Carnegie Mellon – most recently worked as a data scientist for the New Jersey-based technology company Slice, from February 2022 to August 2026, his LinkedIn profile shows.

Slice did not respond to inquiries about the circumstances surrounding Lynch’s departure from the company.

The once seemingly picture-perfect family lived in an almost $1 million, 4,300-square-foot home in Mt. Lebanon, according to public records and an online listing for the property.

An online fundraiser created to help Anna Lynch bury her beloved relatives had raised more than $210,000 as of Friday afternoon.

“No mother should ever have to experience this kind of pain. Especially Anna, who devoted her life to her family and to the community. To know her is to love her,” reads the bio on the GoFundMe page.
