Former Bond girl Trina Parks thinks Sydney Sweeney would be “wonderful” in the iconic role.
“She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity,” Parks, 79, told the Telegraph in a new interview.
Parks said that Sweeney, 29, is “not only a talented actress,” but also “has this Hollywood classic kind of style and poise, which really works for her projects and brand.”
Parks, who made history as the first black Bond girl when she starred opposite Sean Connery in 1971’s “Diamonds Are Forever,” also insisted that the “Euphoria” star would be a welcome addition to the spy franchise.
“I feel for modern cinema and film-making and the future of Bond, audiences want to see a woman opposite Bond who is independent and has ownership of her sexuality,” said Parks.
“Sydney has those qualities,” she added.
Parks previously weighed in on the future of the James Bond franchise in July, suggesting that the new 007 should be monogamous.
“Of course I would like them to keep the romance in, but perhaps not give him a multitude of partners,” she told the Telegraph.
Parks continued, “I don’t want the women to just fall into bed with him because he is good-looking. It should be a female who he has got to prove that he is worthy of being her bed partner.”
The actress also urged Bond bosses to make a film that “reflects the modern world where women are stronger characters and hold powerful positions.”
While no one has officially been cast as a Bond girl in the upcoming film, Sweeney is reportedly in the running for the coveted role alongside “The Substance” star Margaret Qualley and her “Euphoria” co-star Zendaya, according to the Telegraph.
Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Lea Seydoux and Ana de Armas are among the actresses who have played Bond girls in the past.
“Dune” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the next “Bond” movie for Amazon MGM Studios — which bought the creative rights to 007 from the Broccoli family in 2025.
The search for the franchise’s new leading man has reportedly been narrowed down to Callum Turner, 36, and Jack Lowden, 36.
The duo was set to undergo one last screen test at the end of October before the final decision was made, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, a source told Deadline that two additional actors received test offers, including “The Crown” star Josh O’Connor, 36. The fourth person’s identity wasn’t revealed.
Lowden called the casting rumors “flattering” in a recent interview with British GQ, as the outlet noted that the “Slow Horses” star became visually unsettled when asked about Bond.
Daniel Craig most recently played 007 from 2006’s “Casino Royale” until 2021’s “No Time to Die.”
Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan also famously played versions of the spy.
