It's been in his contracts for more than two decades

Samuel L. Jackson has had one very specific demand written into his movie contracts since 2002 - and it has nothing to do with his salary.

Hollywood stars are no strangers to making demands when they land a major movie role, with some contracts containing clauses that go far beyond the usual salary and billing negotiations.

From elaborate trailer requirements to carefully negotiated working hours, celebrities can have plenty of perks written into their deals before cameras even start rolling.

But while some requests might seem fairly standard for A-listers, others are considerably more unusual.

And one Hollywood heavyweight has reportedly had the same bizarre demand written into his movie contracts for more than two decades - and it has nothing to do with private jets, luxury accommodation or an enormous paycheck.

In fact, it involves his favourite pastime, golf.

In a 2017 interview with The New York Times, the actor broke down how he is on set, as well as how he is able to find time to enjoy his hobbies despite such a regularly busy schedule.

In fact, the actor revealed there is one thing all of his projects have in common, as Jackson is also set to star in the upcoming thriller The Beast, adding another major project to his decades-spanning Hollywood career.

He admitted he can 'be a hard taskmaster for some directors' and likes to call the shots on set.

He's described as being 'allergic to extra takes', admitting: "I’m at that point where I can say: ‘Uh, you know, that’s not going to be in the movie, right? We already got it, we got it when we did this, that and that. I’m not going to do that."

In keeping with this desire for control, Jackson makes sure he has time for some leisurely activities around his filming schedule by having the option to go golfing twice a week written into all of his film contracts.

The actor is a big golf fan, so much so that he admitted at the time to planning out his outfits for his games the night before.

He's previously played golf with the likes of Anthony Anderson and Charles Barkley, as well as former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald J. Trump.

Jackson spoke further about the addition to his contracts when asked about it in an interview with CNN, where he explained: "Generally, they either move me onto a golf course so I can play or join a club so I can play, and they have to let me play at least twice a week."

"I like golf because it's a perfect game for an only child like me.

"In this game, you get responsibility for everything you do bad, and you get all the credit for everything you do well."
