Sorry soap fans, I have some bad news.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street won’t be airing this evening.

Remember the summer, when it felt like the ITV soaps were barely on because of the football? Our naïve selves thought things would get back to normal once autumn arrived, but it really has been a year of soap sacrifice for football.

The World Cup caused constant schedule changes, then there was the Carabao Cup, and now the UEFA Nations League.

All tournaments have seen the soaps shunted around the schedules, with missing weekday episodes and the occasional double-up and Sunday special.

Well, here we go again!

Here’s everything you need to know about the schedules for Coronation Street and Emmerdale this week.

Why aren’t Emmerdale and Coronation Street on this evening?

Emmerdale and Corrie won’t be airing this evening due to ITV covering the UEFA Nations League match between England and Czechia.

The coverage begins at 7pm and won’t end until 10:05pm, which means there sadly isn’t any room for Corrie and Emmerdale in the schedules tonight. Today’s episodes haven’t been uploaded to ITVX or YouTube either, so don’t go over there to look!

You can still take a trip to soapland though, as EastEnders is airing on BBC One at 7:30pm.

When will they be back?

Fortunately, you don’t have too long to wait to see the Emmerdale and Corrie residents again, as they will be back on our screens in the usual slots of 8pm and 8:30pm tomorrow (October 7) night.

The football won’t impact the schedules for the rest of the week, thankfully, with both ITV soaps airing as normal on Thursday and Friday as well.

What is happening in Emmerdale and Corrie this week?

Following Gabby Thomas’ (Rosie Bentham) panic attack yesterday, her health gets worse when she suddenly collapses, forcing Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) to call an ambulance.

In the hospital, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) supports Laurel and Gabby as she shares more information about Gabby’s diagnosis, an eating disorder called orthorexia.

Elsewhere, after DS Thea Ramsden’s (Chelsea Edge) risky move at work, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) returns home, and quickly learns that Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has no intention of forgiving her over the lie about baby Leyla.

I mean, why would she?!

In Weatherfield, Jodie Ramsey’s (Oliva Frances-Brown) obsession with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) reaches new heights.

Also, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) discover that Rachel’s ashes have gone missing, and later find Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) in the precinct with the urn in her hands.
