Carla Jeffery's Untimely Death Leaves Disney Fans Heartbroken

Disney alum Carla Jeffery has died. She was 33.

The actress, best known for her role as Bree in the “Zombies” franchise, passed away on Tuesday, her talent agency announced via Instagram.

“Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our beloved Carla Jeffery. 💔,” read a statement from Alexanders Talent Management.

“For more than 20 years, Carla was part of the Alexanders Talent Management family, and watching her grow from a talented young girl into the beautiful, vibrant woman and actress she became was an incredible privilege,” the statement continued.

The talent agency shared that they will remember Jeffery’s “infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went.”

“Our deepest love and condolences are with Carla’s family and loved ones,” the statement concluded. “Rest beautifully, Carla. You will be deeply missed and forever loved. 🤍.”

Jeffery’s cause of death wasn’t immediately revealed.

The actress starred in the 2018 movie “Zombies” alongside Milo Manhein as Zed, Meg Donnelly as Addison, Trevor Tordjman as Bucky and Kylee Russell as Eliza.

She also appeared in the 2020 sequel and the third film, released in 2023.

When asked at the “Zombies 3” premiere what she believed to be the franchise’s success, she told LRM Online, “I think it’s staying passionate about it with what you do. ‘Cause seriously, everybody put their all in each and every movie, which makes room for more.”

At the time, Jeffery also gushed over working with the cast, saying they were all friends and “miss[ed] each other so much” during breaks in between films.

In a separate interview on “The Tokens Podcast” last year, Jeffery opened up about representation and being the “token black girl” on the Disney set.

“I’m the token black girl, and I’m the big black girl,” she told host Giovonnie Samuels, who starred on “All That” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” during a heart-to-heart chat. “I can show it just for all my black girls, but also for the thick ones, and that’s what I wanted to try to represent as I was going forward.”

Jeffery gushed about being an example to other women, saying she received a lot of comments from fans who see themselves in her.

“That honestly makes me want to cry, because I guess I never thought I’d see myself as somebody’s inspiration,” she emotionally shared while reminiscing on seeing girls dressed up as Bree.

“It’s not about how big you are and everything, you’ve got young black girls looking up to you. I’m just like, ‘That’s what I want to keep doing,'” she said. “I’m just beyond happy that I actually get to be a part of that and helping them girls.”

Additionally, Jeffery appeared in the 2020 feature film “Puzzled” and in the TV shows “Southland,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “American Vandal.”

In 2024, Jeffery voiced Bree in the “Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.”
