Why Republican Confidence in Trump's Economy is Crumbling
The confidence Republicans have in President Donald Trump’s economy is sinking in 2026, according to a new poll, a trend that spells trouble for the GOP as the November midterms approach.
Affordability has already emerged as a key concern in a number of financial respects—from housing and healthcare to groceries and debt—as well as a major political vulnerability for the administration, which has been attempting to pursue a number of pro-affordability measures in recent months as surveys continue to show concern about the Trump's economic stewardship.
According to a new Harris poll commissioned by The Guardian, 95 percent of Americans now believe the country is in the midst of an affordability “crisis.” The pessimism has grown across political affiliations and with a clear increase following the launch of the Iran war on February 28.
