Laura Dern has joined the cast of "The White Lotus" Season 4, taking over after Helena Bonham Carter's unexpected departure. The show's creator, Mike White, is writing a new character specifically for Dern.

Helena Bonham Carter exited the series just nine days into filming in France. According to an HBO spokesperson, the character initially created for Carter did not work as intended on set, leading to revisions and recasting decisions.

Collaborations and New Additions

Mike White and Laura Dern have collaborated before on projects such as the 2007 film "Year of the Dog" and the 2011 HBO drama "Enlightened." Dern also made an uncredited voice cameo in Season 2 of “The White Lotus.”

The upcoming season will be set at a luxury resort in France during the Cannes Film Festival, featuring stars like Rosie Perez, Max Greenfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Heather Graham, Steve Coogan, AJ Michalka, and Sandra Bernhard.

Sandra Bernhard expressed her eagerness about joining the show after years of discussing it with Mike White. Similarly, AJ Michalka praised White’s casting decisions during a recent podcast appearance.

"The White Lotus" has been recognized with multiple Emmy awards in past seasons but did not secure any wins for its third season despite numerous nominations.
