Nathan Chasing Horse Sentenced to Prison

Actor Nathan Chasing Horse has been sentenced to 37 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting Indigenous women and girls. He may be eligible for parole after serving at least 25 years.

Convictions and Charges

Judge Jessica Peterson delivered the sentence on April 27, following his conviction of multiple charges related to sexual assaults. The allegations spanned several years and included crimes committed under the guise of spiritual leadership.

A Las Vegas jury found him guilty of 13 out of 21 charges, including sexual assault of a minor and possession of child pornography. The charges also included counts from other states and Canada, where a separate warrant remains active.

Reactions to the Verdict

Clark County District Attorney's Office stated the convictions involved numerous offenses against victims who were initially ignored. Chief Deputy District Attorney William Rowles expressed hope that the verdict brings peace to the victims.

The Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service acknowledged the verdict as a vital step towards justice, commending survivors for coming forward. Meanwhile, Chasing Horse maintains his innocence, labeling the trial outcome a "miscarriage of justice."
