Actress Faces Flight Denial

Marissa Bode, known for her role in "Wicked," claims she was denied boarding a flight due to her wheelchair. The incident occurred on a Southern Airways flight.

Incident Details

Bode shared her experience in a TikTok video, expressing frustration at being unable to board because of her disability. She mentioned tagging Southern Airways and said she would continue raising awareness about similar issues.

She advised other disabled travelers against using Southern Airways, describing the airline as extremely small with limited facilities for disabled passengers.

Unclear Boarding Procedures

Bode explained she was traveling to a small town in Pennsylvania, initially flying with United Airlines before her connecting flight with Southern Airways. She encountered difficulties accessing her boarding pass through United's app.

At the gate, agents asked if she could stand and cited concerns over accommodating her wheelchair on the aircraft. Bode questioned their practices, noting that such procedures discriminate against disabled individuals.

The actress expressed that not updating planes to accommodate all passengers amounts to segregation, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and addressing the needs of disabled people. Southern Airways has been contacted for comment.
