Share Post

"Deadliest Catch" star Todd Meadows died on February 25 at age 25 after falling overboard from the Aleutian Lady fishing vessel. The crew's attempts to rescue him were unsuccessful despite favorable weather conditions.

Details of the Incident

Deckhand Trey John Green III recalled the day as clear and calm, though temperatures were below freezing. Meadows fell into the near-freezing water after an incident with a fishing pot.

Efforts to rescue Meadows began immediately, with Steve Porter acting as designated rescue swimmer. However, equipment failures hindered the retrieval process, and Meadows fell back into the water after initially getting into a sling.

Rescue Attempts

Green reported that the crew performed CPR and used an AED in efforts to revive Meadows after retrieving him from the water. Despite their efforts over 45 minutes, they were unable to save him.

The US Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances of Meadows' death, which remains officially undetermined.

Grieving Loved Ones

Todd's mother mentioned a prior head injury he sustained on the job about a month before his death. It is unknown if this contributed to his passing.

Meadows was remembered fondly by his crewmates and family for his enthusiasm and dedication to fishing. The entire event was reportedly captured by cameras during filming for Season 22 of "Deadliest Catch."
