High Potential Faces Showrunner Change

The TV series High Potential is set to return for a third season, but another showrunner has stepped down. Todd Harthan has left the show to focus on a new project.

Todd Harthan Exits for New Project

Todd Harthan has exited his role as showrunner to work on the live-action adaptation of Christopher Paolini’s book series The Inheritance Cycle, specifically the new show Eragon. The adaptation will see him collaborating with Paolini and Todd Helbing as co-showrunners.

Previous Production Changes

High Potential, which premiered in September 2024, was originally created by Drew Goddard. After Rob Thomas left as the expected showrunner months before the premiere, Harthan took on the role alongside executive producing duties.

The police procedural follows Morgan, played by Kaitlin Olson, who assists the LAPD in solving murders. Initially skeptical, her partner Karadec becomes more reliant on her unique skills.

Future Developments and Guest Stars

The second season explores a storyline where Morgan's ex Roman returns after years of being missing, only to be revealed as an FBI informant. Harthan hinted at future plot twists and intense scenarios involving key characters.

Expressing enthusiasm about casting opportunities, Harthan mentioned that many exciting guest stars are lined up for future episodes. The main cast continues to recruit remarkable talent like Steve Howey to enrich the show's narrative.

High Potential airs on ABC Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET and is also available for streaming on Hulu.
