Todd Meadows' On-the-Job Injury: The Incident Before His Tragic Death
“Deadliest Catch” star Todd Meadows died after falling overboard from the Aleutian Lady while filming the TV series. He was 25 years old.
Incident Details
Todd Meadows was working onboard the Aleutian Lady when he suffered a blow to the head, resulting in a concussion. His mother, Angela, revealed that he had to take medical leave following the incident.
A month later, on February 25, while back at sea, Todd tragically fell overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor. Despite being quickly recovered from the water by crew members, he was unresponsive.
Efforts and Investigation
Crew members attempted to resuscitate him with first aid, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the incident as it does for all marine casualties.
Community Remembrance
Todd’s death was announced by Captain Rick Shelford in an emotional Facebook post, calling it “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady.”
A GoFundMe campaign was set up by friends and family to support his three sons. The page remembers Todd as a devoted father and beloved friend who pursued his passion for crabbing in Alaska.
