Born in Alberta, Canada, in June 1961, Michael J. Fox began acting at age 16 in the Canadian TV series Leo and Me. He moved to Los Angeles in 1979 and secured his breakthrough role in Family Ties, airing from 1982 to 1989. His performance as Alex P. Keaton won him three Emmy awards.
Family and Personal Life
While filming Family Ties, Fox met Tracy Pollan, whom he married in 1988. The couple has four children: Samuel, born in 1989; twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, born in 1995; and Esmé, born in 2001.
Health and Advocacy
Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 but disclosed it publicly eight years later. Despite retiring from acting in 2020, he continues to advocate for Parkinson’s research through his foundation.
