A major blueberry recall has been announced due to potential Listeria contamination, affecting nearly 60,000 pounds of frozen products. The recall has been classified as high risk by federal officials.

Recall Details

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's enforcement report identifies the recall, numbered H-0522-2026, which involves 55,689 pounds of frozen blueberries from Oregon Potato Company LLC, also known as Willamette Valley Fruit Company in Salem, Oregon. The company began the voluntary recall on February 12, 2026.

Distribution and Packaging

The FDA labeled it a Class I recall on February 24, indicating a significant risk to health or even death. The blueberries were shipped in 30-pound cases lined with polyethylene and 1,400-pound totes. Distribution areas include Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, and Canada.

Health Risks

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that Listeria monocytogenes can lead to severe illness or death in vulnerable populations such as young children, older adults, or those with weakened immune systems. Pregnant women face increased risks including miscarriage or stillbirth.
