Meet Martin Short's Three Children with Late Wife Nancy Dolman
Martin Short has faced numerous personal tragedies, including the loss of his wife, Nancy Dolman, and two children. Despite these challenges, he remains grounded by his strong family foundation.
Family Tragedies
Short lost his wife to cancer in 2010. Sixteen years later, their daughter Katherine died from an apparent suicide. Katherine was a social worker and had been very close to her father.
During his childhood, Martin experienced the loss of several family members. His older brother died in a car accident when Short was just 12. Later, he lost both parents within two years; his mother to cancer and his father to stroke complications.
Marriage and Family
Martin Short married Nancy Dolman in 1980 after meeting during a production of "Godspell" in Toronto. They adopted three children: Katherine, Olive, and Henry. Short recalls their marriage as a triumph and continues to feel connected to Dolman even after her passing.
Katherine's Life
Katherine, born in December 1983, graduated from New York University and became a social worker. She accompanied her father on various public events. Her death at age 42 was confirmed by the family with requests for privacy.
