Katherine was reportedly found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her residence. She had previously mentioned having a service dog to assist with mental health challenges.

Katherine worked as a social worker specializing in psychotic disorders, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. She named her service dog after singer Joni Mitchell.

Martin Short and his late wife Nancy Dolman adopted Katherine along with two sons. Katherine will be remembered for the joy she brought to those around her.
