Jim Breuer's First-Class Upset at American Airlines Gate: 'This is Foul'

Share Post

Comedian Jim Breuer criticized American Airlines after he claims he and his wife were abruptly downgraded from first class to economy shortly before boarding a flight. The couple had purchased first-class tickets for their trip from Florida to visit their daughter in Hawaii but faced issues on the return journey.

Unexpected Downgrade

Breuer explained that although their initial flight was smooth, problems arose during their return, which included a layover in Arizona. They initially booked first-class seats and even pre-ordered meals for the flight back to Florida. However, just before boarding, they were informed of their downgrade to economy.

Compensation Issues

The airline offered Breuer a $500 voucher and a $400 refund as compensation, but he felt it was insufficient. He accused American Airlines of prioritizing off-duty pilots for the first-class seats, describing the situation as equivalent to theft.

Reactions and Airline Policy

Breuer reached out multiple times to American Airlines seeking further resolution but stated he received no satisfactory response. The incident resonated with many of his followers, who shared similar experiences with the airline. Currently, American Airlines has a policy giving priority to deadheading pilots for first-class upgrades as per the 2023 Allied Pilots Association contract.
