Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn has shared a new photo of her broken leg following a crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The injury left her with multiple surgeries and a challenging recovery.

Details of the Injury

On February 8, during her downhill event in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, Vonn suffered a left tibia fracture shortly into her run. She was airlifted from the course and has since had several surgeries in both Italy and the United States.

An x-ray picture posted by Vonn on social media shows her leg held together with plates and screws. She praised Dr. Hackett for doing an incredible job with her surgery.

Recovery Process

Vonn is still in the hospital as she recovers. She stated in a post that managing pain has been difficult, but progress is slowly being made. Despite not yet able to stand, returning home offers some comfort.

She thanked everyone for their support and shared that she is receiving help and encouragement from friends and family during this tough time.

Personal Challenges

Adding to her physical recovery, Vonn mourns the emotional loss of her dog, Leo, who passed away the day after her crash. Vonn expressed that these have been some of the hardest days of her life.

Despite these challenges, Vonn remains determined to explain her injury further once she's able and looks forward to making more progress soon.

Before competing at the Olympics, Vonn tore her ACL during a World Cup race but stated it did not contribute to the Olympic accident.
