Johnny Depp aids Eric Dane in unexpected ALS battle support

Share Post

Johnny Depp has extended help to his friend Eric Dane by offering him a residence in Los Angeles amid Dane's struggle with ALS. Depp has allowed Dane to pay a flexible rent or none at all.

Depp's Generosity

The assistance from Depp provides Dane, who announced his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in April 2025, with financial relief as he resides above the Sunset Strip. Their friendship began through mutual acquaintances years ago.

Dane's Health Challenges

After losing the use of his right arm by June, Dane expressed concerns about further physical decline. He discussed the progression of the disease in a Good Morning America interview, noting that his left side might also be affected soon.

Dane's Advocacy Efforts

Dane is active in advocacy work and serves on the board of directors at Target ALS. He canceled an appearance at an ALS event due to health reasons but continues to raise awareness about the disease.

In another gesture of kindness, Depp offered similar support to Mickey Rourke following Rourke’s eviction but Rourke has not accepted. Reps for Depp, Dane, and Rourke did not comment on these matters.
