Britney Spears Strikes Deal on Rights to Massive Music Collection
Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalog to Primary Wave, a music publishing company. The selling price has not been disclosed. TMZ first reported the deal on February 10 as a "landmark deal."
Starting her music career in the '90s as a teen idol, Spears released hit albums like Baby One More Time and Oops!... I Did It Again. She was known as the Princess of Pop and later released albums such as Britney, Blackout, and Circus.
In the early 2000s, Spears faced personal challenges, leading to a conservatorship after her divorce from Kevin Federline in 2008. Under the conservatorship, she released albums like Femme Fatale and Britney Jean, and had a Las Vegas residency.
The conservatorship ended in November 2021, after which Britney revealed feeling trapped during those 13 years in her memoir, The Woman in Me. She expressed being stripped of her womanhood and autonomy, blaming her family for their roles in the situation.
Britney Spears is supporting her son Jayden James as he ventures into a music career. She is connecting him with producers she has worked with before to help him navigate the industry. Britney has announced she will not perform in the U.S. due to personal reasons and expressed interest in performing with her son in the UK and Australia.
