Tim Scott Responds to Donald Trump's Post on the Obamas
Republican Senator Tim Scott Responds to Donald Trump’s Deleted Post About the Obamas
Republican Senator Tim Scott publicly criticized Donald Trump after the former president shared and then removed a video on his Truth Social account. The video depicted former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama in a racially offensive manner, which led to backlash and its subsequent deletion.
Scott reacted to the video on the social media platform X, calling it the most racist thing he had seen from the White House and urging the President to remove it. Shortly after Scott's response, Trump's video was taken down from Truth Social.
White House Addresses the Deleted Post Following Backlash
After the video was removed, a White House official clarified that the post was mistakenly shared by a staffer and was not intentionally posted by the President. The post was promptly removed after the error was acknowledged.
Initially, the White House defended the video by explaining it as part of an internet meme referencing The Lion King. The video depicted Trump as the "king of the jungle" and Democrats as animals. However, this explanation did not prevent criticism from both political parties, and the video continued circulating online even after its removal from Trump's account.
