Carrot Top reportedly overdosed on prescription pills during his alleged suicide attempt Friday.The comedian, 61, took prescription medicine before he was hospitalized for a suspected overdose, TMZ reported Monday. The outlet reported that crews from the Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas responded to his home around 4:20 p.m. Friday after receiving a call about a 61-year-old male who was “not alert.”Though a City of Las Vegas ambulance responded, the longtime Vegas performer — whose real name is Scott Thompson — was transported to the hospital via a private ambulance that also responded to the scene.Carrot Top reportedly overdosed on prescription medication ahead of his alleged suicide attempt. AP Photo/Matt SaylesThompson is now awake and breathing on his own, his representative, Jami Schlicher, told Page Six on Sunday.“Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care,” she told us. “He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.”“Humor has always been such an important part of who Scott is and how he connects with people, and that remains true today as he shares moments of humor with the medical staff caring for him,” she continued.Thompson’s show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino — which he started in 2005 — usually runs every day except for Sunday, and five of his shows were canceled as a result of his hospitalization.His rep told Page Six Sunday that he’s awake and breathing on his own. Getty ImagesThompson was being extorted over a sex tape prior to the reported suicide attempt, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.Ronnie Bitman, the comedian’s attorney, claimed in a Sept. 3 filing in Broward County, Florida, that musician Brian Evans — a previous opening performer for Thompson — threatened to leak an X-rated video of his client if he wasn’t paid $500,000 in “immediately available funds.”“Evans demands immediate payment of significant sums and states that, absent immediate payment, a sexually explicit recording of Thompson will be filed in the public court file so that it may be obtained and disseminated by the press and other parties,” Bitman wrote, in part.In a statement to Page Six, Evans said the aforementioned email was “intended to be confidential” and said he “never threatened — ever — to post any video anywhere in exchange for a settlement.”Thompson (seen here in March 2024) was being extorted over a sex tape prior to his alleged suicide attempt, according to court docs obtained by Page Six.
