Tenacious NYPD SVU detectives cracked a more than 30-year-old rape cold case by preserving — and tracking down — intertwined trails of DNA evidence, police sources revealed. Cops arrested William Stephens, 55, on Friday after quickly obtaining his DNA when they brought him into custody on an unrelated minor charge and finding it matched the suspect who raped a woman in Brooklyn during 1995, sources said.Stephens pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, sexual abuse, robbery and assault when he was arraigned in a Brooklyn courtroom, records show.William Stephens, 55, was arrested Friday in connection to a 1995 cold case rape.The horrific rape occurred Aug. 2, 1995, in an apartment building near Pulaski Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant, law-enforcement sources said. The woman didn’t know her attacker, sources said.The case ultimately went cold, but Brooklyn prosecutors in 2005 kept it alive with a clever legal maneuver. They obtained an indictment on a “John Doe” by using a DNA profile of the rapist – a move that the statute of limitations wouldn’t let the fiend spring free in the future, sources said.Investigators eventually identified Stephens, a Bronx man, as a potential person of interest during a search of a state DNA database, according to sources.The DNA yielded potential matches within a family tree, leading investigators to Stephens, sources said.Police obtained Stephens’ DNA in July when they took him into custody on a minor charge. Oglas Govoreći o tome šta je pokrenulo studente i zbog čega su odlučili da se suprotstave sistemu, ona je rekla da slobodu vidi upravo u mogućnosti da čovek kaže „ne“ i da zbog toga ne bude ucijenjen.„Da se ja suprotstavim ovom režimu i ovom sistemu i da kažem: ‘E, ja ovo ne želim i ne možeš da me uceniš.’ To je moja sloboda“, rekla je.Studentkinja je tada govorila i o očekivanju da se, nakon studentskog pokreta, uključe i starije generacije.„Evo, probudili smo vas iz tog celog bunila, mrtvila, što ja kažem. Premierul desemnat Siegfried Mureşan a anunţat, vineri seară, la Digi24, că nu ia în calcul să-şi depună mandatul, dacă la finalul perioadei în care trebuie să prezinte Cabinetul va constata că nu are voturile necesare.„Nu, nu iau în calcul să-mi depun mandatul”, a declarat Siegfried Mureşan, întrebat ce va face dacă va constata că nu va avea voturile necesare pentru învestirea Guvernului pe care-l va propune. El a precizat că în niciun scenariu nu se va ajunge la depunerea mandatului: „Nu am în vedere depunerea mandatului, nu”.Aritmetica parlamentară arată că va fi dificil să obţină cele 233 de voturi necesare pentru a trece un guvern de Parlament. Siegfried Mureşan a fost nominalizat, joi, de către preşedintele Nicuşor Dan pentru a forma Guvernul, în încercarea de a debloca criza politică, dar şeful statului a precizat ulterior că va semna doar sâmbătă decretul de nominalizare, acesta urmând a fi publicat luni în Monitorul Oficial.  Editor : A.C.

La Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) informó que tiene previsto realizar una suspensión temporal del servicio eléctrico durante el próximo domingo 20 de septiembre, la cual, durará un lapso de 9 horas, sin embargo, se precisó que este corte de energía solo afectará a ciertos usuarios del territorio nacional, por ello, en esta nota te diremos todo lo que hay que saber en torno a esta drástica medida, la cual, tiene como objetivo garantizar la continuidad y la calidad del servicio eléctrico.De acuerdo con la información difundida por la Coordinación de Comunicación División Oriente de la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), el corte temporal de energía que llevará a cabo el domingo 20 de septiembre por trabajos de mantenimiento dejará sin luz a los todos los usuarios de 16 comunidades perteneciente a un municipio del estado de Veracruz y como de mencionó antes, estas acciones tienen como objetivo mantener en óptimas condiciones la infraestructura eléctrica para así originar una mayor confiabilidad del servicio en beneficio de la población de la referida región. Foto: CFE Nacional  Estas son las comunidades de Veracruz que se quedarán sin luz el domingo 20 de septiembre por trabajos de mantenimiento de la CFEEn el comunicado difundido por la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) se detalló que, los trabajos de mantenimiento que están previstos en la infraestructura eléctrica para el próximo domingo 20 de septiembre se llevarán a cabo de 6:00 a 15:00 horas, además, se precisó que las 16 comunidades que se quedarán sin luz por esta medida pertenecen al municipio de Manlio Fabio Altamirano, Veracruz, las cuáles se indican a continuación: Cabo Verde Santa Rita Portezuelos Mata Loma Palmita Rancho Nuevo San Cenobio Úrsulo Galván La Purga La Polvadera Santa Ana Felipe Carrillo Puerto Villa del Río Paso Solía Loma de Santa María Las Iguanas Ante esta suspensión temporal en el suministro eléctrico, la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) hizo un llamado a los usuarios de las comunidades antes mencionadas a tomar las medidas preventivas necesarias y así evitar cualquier tipo de contratiempo derivado de la falta de suministro eléctrico.Para finalizar, la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) agradeció la comprensión y colaboración de los usuarios que resultarán afectados por esta suspensión en el suministro eléctrico por trabajos de mantenimiento y reiteró que dichas acciones son necesarias para garantizar la calidad y continuidad del servicio eléctrico, asimismo, exhortó a la ciudadanía en general a mantenerse informada a través de los medios oficiales para evitar la propagación de rumores que puedan generar alarma de forma innecesaria.

Cops discovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle following the deadly Tuesday wreck, sources with knowledge of the investigation told the California Post.Hochman said she will receive a maximum sentence of life behind bars if convicted.“Miss Rios did not have to get behind the wheel while impaired. She did not have to drive on the other side of the road. She did not have to blow through the red light at full force and drive her SUV right into a Metro bus. Instead, he withdrew £200 from his bank account and bought a one-way train ticket from Doncaster to London.Andrew's dad Kevin has been penning updates in an online blog following his son's disappearance, most recently writing an entry on 14 September - some 19 years after his son vanished.AdvertHe has worked with the charity Missing People to raise awareness of his son's disappearance. South Yorkshire Police have confirmed they would still review information submitted in relation to the teenager's disappearance.Writing an emotional post on his blog, Kevin said the family have had 'no resolution'."I very often write a short blog for Andrew’s birthday in July. This year, I found myself literally having no idea what to write. Not one thought. Zero," he penned.The case of Andrew Gosden has yet to be solved (PA)"Some of it comes down to the ongoing battles with depression and anxiety, some of it simply because nothing has changed and never seems to."We still miss Andrew all the time and have no resolution of any kind."On the morning he disappeared, Gosden was last seen at around 8.30am walking down Littlemoor Lane, in Balby, towards Westfield Park.But after his parents went to work, he then returned home and changed out of his school uniform into regular clothes, sporting a black T-shirt, jeans and trainers.After withdrawing the cash, he boarded a 9.35am train scheduled to arrive at King's Cross at 11.20am.This CCTV image is the last confirmed sighting of Andrew Gosden (PA)Kevin continued: "It occurred to me that perhaps 4 or 5 times this year I have been approached by media companies about the possibility of making a new documentary-style film and have felt unable to say yes because telling the story again is so painful and that after so long (19 years) I have discovered that none of it has turned up anything concrete about what happened to our son."CCTV footage captured Andrew's last known movements, filming him at the station, but he has not been seen since.Gosden's school had noticed his absence but mistakenly called the wrong parent and left a message with them.Andrew has not been seen for almost 20 years (PA)The CCTV was not obtained until 27 days later, leaving police with a cold trail. His whereabouts were never determined and he has still not been found.Despite a number of arrests over the years, including a 45-year-old man and a 38-year-old man in 2021 on suspicion of kidnap and human trafficking.
