German and British Ambassadors Stir Reactions with Statements About Kurti New

German and British Ambassadors Stir Reactions with Statements About Kurti

Shock Exit: '60 Minutes' Top Producer Leaves Amidst CBS Chaos

Veteran “60 Minutes” producer Michael Gavshon, who produced a piece for Anderson Cooper that came under heavy scrutiny from CBS News boss Bari Weiss, has resigned from the network, sources said.Gavshon wrote in a memo obtained by The Post that his decades-long career at CBS News will come to an end on June 30 — after a slew of high-profile journos were recently axed from the newsmagazine.“Thirty-four of my forty-one years at CBS News have been at ’60 Minutes,'” wrote Gavshon, who was based in the network’s London bureau. “The old chestnut, I have stood on the shoulders of giants, couldn’t be more true.”Longtime producer Michael Gavshon (right) is leaving CBS News after 41 years at the network, 34 of which were spent at “60 Minutes.” He’s seen here with retired correspondent Steve Kroft in 2017. APCBS News did not immediately comment.Earlier this year, Gavshon was reportedly left exasperated after Weiss closely scrutinized a Cooper report on the White House policy of accepting South African refugees, whom President Trump described as victims of a “white genocide.”The piece, which debunked Trump’s claims, aired Feb. 22. Just four days before that, Cooper decided not to renew his “60 Minutes” contract. In December, “60 Minutes” staff — who were not used to getting hands-on editing from upper management — voiced outrage over Weiss’ decision to shelve a report on El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison, on grounds it needed comments from the White House.Gavshon, whom one source called “the very best of the best,” hung on. But he was said to be extremely upset after Weiss overhauled the program by firing executive producer Tanya Simon, correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, senior executive producer Draggan Mihailovich, veteran producer Guy Campanile and digital operations chief Matthew Polevoy.Gavshon produced Anderson Cooper’s report on claims of white “genocide” in South Africa, which was highly scrutinized by Bari Weiss. 60 Minutes / CBSFormer “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley declared Bari Weiss was “murdering ’60 Minutes.'” CBS News via APWeiss brought on Nick Bilton, a former New York Times technology columnist with a handful of producing credits, as the new executive producer. At a company meet-and-greet on June 2, “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley challenged Bilton about the firings, pressing him on why his colleagues were axed. Pelley also declared that neither Bilton nor Weiss had enough experience for their jobs, and said Weiss was “murdering ’60 Minutes.'”Pelley was fired for cause the following day. Since then, Bilton and Weiss have been seeking to reassure staffers that the editorial ethos of the program remains unchanged.Veteran correspondents Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim all opted to stay on for next season. In his goodbye memo, Gavshon thanked the show’s executive producers through the years — Don Hewitt, Jeff Fager, Phil Scheffler, Bill Owens and Simon.

Scottish Fans' Boozy Boston Arrival Leaves Everyone Talking

Slàinte! The Scottish national team kicks off World Cup play in Boston Saturday, but their fans treated their transatlantic flights like a bottomless pub crawl — and drained every drop of booze before touching the tarmac. The kilt-clad Scots entered Logan International Airport ready to rumble — “been drinking since one o’clock in the morning when I got up,” said David Wood as he arrived on US soil.“We ran out of beer.”Scottish fans arrive at Boston’s Logan Airport. CBS BostonA flight from the UK to the US usually lasts around seven hours, so when the beer ran dry, the Scots switched to wine, the pilot told WBZ-TV.“We had a round of applause when we landed,” Wood added. “I don’t know if you do that here. That’s a very Scottish thing.”“I’m going to find Cheers. That’s what I want do. I want to find Cheers, he told CBS, holding up a bottle of whiskey. Visitors arrived in kilts. CBS Boston“I watched it when I was younger, and I want to find the bar.”Ticket prices soared to around $1,200 when they first went on sale, according to Allan Begg, who plans to attend one of Scotland’s matches in the group stage.“Now they aren’t selling and are down to $500,” he moaned.A family arrives in Boston from Scotland. CBS Boston“We got scammed — is what it is, but we are still smiling,” continued Carole McNamara seethed. “We are going to the fan zones, and we got tickets to one of the pubs.”Many tourists from Scotland have had trouble entering the US over visa issues — with their application status changed or rejected in the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).US Customs and Border Patrol told WBZ-TV in a statement that “ESTAs are continuously vetted and travelers must be complete and truthful.” It added that “failure to disclose arrests or convictions constitutes misrepresentation and can lead to ESTA denial, revocation or a permanent bar from entering the United States.”Meanwhile, the Tartan Army hasn’t made the World Cup in 28 years — and the dramatic drop in prices as well as entry issues soured its supporters.Loads of people spent thousands of thousands of pounds and you can’t get that money back,” said McNamara.“When you waited 28 years, it’s a kick in the teeth.”

I have no other words,” Byrne told WCVB.Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn wrote on Facebook Wednesday night that the armed robbery highlighted the community’s need for “more police officers and to redouble our community policing efforts.”“The thoughts of our entire community are with the young children and the families who had to endure this terrible and senseless ordeal,” Flynn wrote.“There is simply no one that envisions a place where a children’s lemonade stand is robbed at gunpoint as the safest city in America.”As for the victims, neighbors have rallied behind them and are expected to turn out in droves Friday evening to support a new lemonade stand — a show of solidarity to help them recoup their losses, WCVB reported.

Tragic TikTok Challenge? 6th Grader's Shocking Death Raises Alarming Questions

The 12-year-old boy who choked to death at a New York school has been identified — as police confirm they are investigating whether his death was tied to a viral TikTok challenge.Jacob Medina, a 6th-grader at Sonia Sotomayor Community School in Yonkers, was on his way to a class Wednesday morning when he started choking in the hallway on what officials said may have been a doughnut.Nearby adults immediately jumped in to help, Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent Anibal Soler Jr. told NBC New York. Jacob Medina, 12, choked to death at his school in Yonkers on Wednesday. Courtesy Medina family“He was actually with an adult when he started to exhibit some of these signs of choking,” Soler Jr. said.“So immediately there was actually somebody with him and within seconds — probably less than 10 seconds — additional adults came to try to administer emergency life-saving procedures on the young man.” However, they were unable to save him, and Jacob was pronounced dead after being rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital.Investigators are now probing whether his death was tied to the popular “One Bite” social media trend, in which users attempt to eat as much as possible in a single bite.“Anything about a TikTok challenge, anything about witness statements, we are going to investigate,” confirmed Yonkers Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza.School officials stressed that they are not certain the internet challenge was involved in the tragedy.Investigators are looking into Jacob’s health history, including whether he had any allergies. He began choking in the hallway at Sonia Sotomayor Community School while going to class. WNBCHe started choking just before noon on the fourth-floor hallway and may have bought the doughnut at school as part of a fundraiser, sources told CBS News.   On Thursday evening, flowers and candles were placed in front of the school by family members in tribute to Jacob, who they remembered as a loving boy who cared about his cousins.“This young man was a bright light in the building,” Soler Jr. said Thursday. “Everybody loved him, everybody knew him. He was energy, he was joy.”

Taylor Swift's Emotional Tribute Leaves Everyone Wondering: What Did Her Family Do? New

Taylor Swift's Emotional Tribute Leaves Everyone Wondering: What Did Her Family Do?

Taylor Swift is paying tribute to her family after being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The “I Knew You, I Knew It” singer, 36, was admitted into the prestigious hall of fame during an awards ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Thursday, June 11. During her acceptance speech, Swift acknowledged the sacrifices her parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, and brother Austin made to help her kickstart her music career. “It was easy to choose songwriting over everything else in my life. But it couldn’t have been easy for my parents and my brother to just pick up and move our entire family from Pennsylvania to relocate to Nashville so that I could hone my craft in the songwriting capital of the world,” she said, per Variety. “But after making obvious that this was not even remotely a temporary phase their teen daughter was going through, they uprooted their entire lives to move me to Music City. And even though words are supposed to kind of be my thing, I will never be able to express my gratitude to you guys for doing that for me. You’re the reason I’m here tonight.” Elsewhere during her speech, Swift, who attended Thursday’s ceremony with fiancé Travis Kelce, also 36, spoke about the impact her music has had on people. “I’m very frequently told by people how they feel about my music,” she said. “That they never really got my music until they got their heart broken or started driving their daughter to school every day or until I made an alternative album in the pandemic called ‘Folklore.’ Or that they only like the hits or that they only like the ones that weren’t hits, or that they don’t like any of it at all. But it doesn’t feel uncomfortable for me to get feedback of all sorts because I know where I stand regarding the work I’ve made.” The Grammy winner added, “As writers, we can only hope to meet people where they are in their lives. But you can’t ever orchestrate or force the encounter. You just have to hope that in some exquisite happenstance you bump into them on the same path at the same time. That somehow, amidst the noise of life, a line we wrote or a melody that we crafted cuts through, and they hear it and feel something. But they get chills or feel lighter or think of someone they love. Our goal is to elicit that glint of recognition in another human being because something that felt good and true to us feels good and true to them at the same time. And in that moment, when someone blurts out, ‘I love this song,’ it was easy.” Swift concluded her speech by thanking the fans who have stuck by her since she released her first song, “Tim McGraw,” in 2006. “Nothing makes me happier than when someone tells me that they used to listen to my music with their parent, and now decades later, they listen to it with their own child,” she gushed. “Or that they listen to it with their best friend or when a couple tells me that ‘Love Story’ is their song. Or where somebody does like a cute little dance to ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ or I hear people in different countries singing ‘Opalite’ in their own accents, or someone tells me that the song ‘Enchanted’ gets their baby to stop crying. I’m humbled by the ways that fans have immortalized my songs in their own individual ways, allowing them to be the underscore of some of their real-life expeditions on this earth, the magnificent moments as important to me as the seemingly mundane.”

Why Everyone's Talking About 'The Odyssey's' Bizarre Popcorn Bucket New

Why Everyone's Talking About 'The Odyssey's' Bizarre Popcorn Bucket

Matt Damon stars as Odysseus "The Odyssey," written and directed by Christopher Nolan. Universal Pictures Movie theatres are horsing around with fans.Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is coming to theaters on July 17, and to excite moviegoers, they’ve released a Trojan Horse Popcorn Bucket that requires customers to open a secret hatch on the horse to access their popcorn. The Trojan Horse popcorn bucket is the second collectible popcorn bucket released for The Odyssey. Instagram/@theodysseymovieThe location of the hatch is sparking funny commentary on social media. “Why is it in a dick pouch?” commented an X user on the announcement post for the bucket. Turning to souvenir popcorn buckets and movie merchandise is a smart way to incentivize people to actually go to the movies in the world of streaming. The popcorn bucket prop phenomenon is the latest — and wildly successful — trend in novelty concessions to bait fans. Past popcorn pushes have featured the designer-esque handbag for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the $65 corvette popcorn vessel for “Barbie” and the “Mission: Impossible” bucket that needed a key to unlock. The moviegoer swag market has skyrocketed since the inception of collectible popcorn buckets, as AMC recorded sales of over to over $54 million annually in the mid-2020s — compared to their reportedly $0 revenue in 2018, Time reported in November 2025.However, a plastic horse with a popcorn pouch that is inconvenient to eat out of may not be the solution for moviegoers.“Amazing. Now release the cyclops face bucket where I can eat out of the eyeball,” another X user wrote. The bucket will be available in-theater at Regal, AMC and Cinemark locations. The Trojan Horse bucket is the second collectible for the film, the first being the IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket, which sold out on its first day. Commenters are not only criticizing the bucket’s design, but also the size. “Smallest popcorn content of all time,” one Instagram user wrote in the comments of the bucket-reveal post. And someone on X asked, “What is this? A popcorn bucker for ants??” The Odyssey posted their popcorn bucket in Venice Beach, CA to build excitement for the life-sized Trojan Horse replica being put there. Instagram/@theodysseymovieThe Trojan Horse is an iconic object in the story of “The Odyssey,” as the Greeks constructed a giant wooden horse, hid soldiers inside and presented it as a gift to Troy, whose citizens did not know who was inside. Instead of hiding soldiers, this wooden horse conceals your popcorn so you don’t spill any in the theater.“You open it and a small army of tiny men run out and stab you,” another Instagram user joked. Others are saying that “Homer is rolling in his grave” and “the placement of the hole is interesting, to say the least.”But there are always super-fans who are willing to buy any collectible, and Homer enthusiasts are excited to eat their popcorn out of the Trojan Horse on opening night. “Do I have room for more buckets? No. Will I be getting this one though? ofc,” one fan wrote on Instagram.“NOW THIS IS A POPCORN BUCKET,” wrote another. The Trojan Horse has become the key marketing symbol for the movie, with a humongous horse displayed in Venice Beach, CA.With a star-studded cast of Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, the film already has lots of buzz surrounding it. With Oppenheimer, Interstellar, The Dark Knight and Memento just being some of the movies in Nolan’s filmography, the hype surrounding this upcoming film is predictable.
