President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to grant a rehearing in the birthright citizenship case after the justices struck down his administration’s executive order restricting automatic citizenship for certain children born in the United States.The request came days after the Court issued its decision in Trump v. Ish-gjenerali amerikan dhe ish-komandanti i Komandës së SHBA-së për Evropën, Ben Hodges, ka folur për situatën e sigurisë në Kosovë, rolin e NATO-s në Ballkanin Perëndimor dhe rëndësinë e vazhdimit të pranisë së KFOR-it në vend.Hodges ka thënë se është i bindur që NATO do të vazhdojë të punojë edhe me shtete të vogla si Kosova, për të gjetur mënyra për integrim më të mirë. Sipas tij, nuk është e dëshirueshme që siguria e Aleancës të varet vetëm nga kapacitetet e Shteteve të Bashkuara.“Nuk është e dëshirueshme që gjithçka të mbështetet vetëm në kapacitetet e Shteteve të Bashkuara. Pikërisht për këtë ka paralajmëruar prej kohësh presidenti [i Francës, Emmanuel] Macron, duke theksuar rrezikun e mbështetjes së tepërt te SHBA-ja. Sepse,nëse krijohet një situatë ku administrata amerikane nuk perceptohet si plotësisht e besueshme, ose nëse çdo gjë trajtohet vetëm si një transaksion, atëherë pjesa tjetër e Aleancës bëhet më e cenueshme”, ka thënë Hodges për REL.Duke komentuar faktin që Ballkani Perëndimor nuk është përmendur në deklaratën përmbyllëse të Samitit të NATO-s në Ankara, Hodges ka thënë se situata është sfiduese në shumë dimensione dhe se nuk e di saktësisht se ku gjendet rajoni në listën e prioriteteve të Aleancës.Ai ka thënë se nuk do t’i jepte rëndësi të veçantë mospërmendjes së rajonit, duke e cilësuar samitin e ardhshëm në Shqipëri si një mundësi për rikthimin e vëmendjes te Ballkani Perëndimor.“Megjithatë, nuk do t’i jepja ndonjë kuptim të veçantë faktit që Ballkani Perëndimor nuk u përmend në deklaratën e publikuar pas samitit. Në fund të fundit, samiti përbëhej nga një darkë, një takim i përbashkët dhe disa bisedime dypalëshe që u zhvilluan paralelisht.Samitin e ardhshëm pritet ta organizojë Shqipëria. Tani ekziston një ide që vitin e ardhshëm të mos mbahet, kështu që, nëse kjo ndodh, Shqipëria do të ishte mikpritëse në vitin 2028.Kjo do të ishte një mundësi për ta kthyer vëmendjen te Ballkani, ashtu siç organizimi i samitit nga Turqia ndihmoi që fokusi të vihej te Deti i Zi dhe te roli i Turqisë”, ka thënë Hodges.Duke folur për krizën politike në Kosovë dhe ndikimin e saj në sigurinë e vendit, ish-gjenerali amerikan ka thënë se zhvillime të tilla e bëjnë Kosovën më të ekspozuar ndaj ndikimeve të jashtme.Sipas tij, Rusia nuk ka interes që Kosova të bëhet një shtet i konsoliduar dhe i integruar në strukturat euroatlantike.“Natyrisht, një situatë e tillë e mban Kosovën të cenueshme ndaj ndikimeve të jashtme.Rusia nuk ka asnjë interes që Kosova të bëhet një shtet i fortë, liberal-demokratik, i integruar në Bashkimin Evropian, në NATO apo në struktura të ngjashme. Prandaj, për sa kohë që Kosova nuk arrin ta zgjidhë këtë situatë, ajo do të mbetet e pambrojtur ndaj atyre që synojnë ta ruajnë status quo-në dhe të vazhdojnë ta destabilizojnë vendin”, ka thënë Hodges.Sa i përket misionit të KFOR-it në Kosovë, Hodges ka shprehur shpresën që ky mision të vazhdojë të qëndrojë në vend.“Nuk e di. Unë shpresoj që misioni i KFOR-it të vazhdojë. Mendoj se ta kam përmendur edhe në një bisedë të mëparshme që kemi pasur: njëherë, një zyrtar i lartë i Kosovës dhe një zyrtar i lartë i Serbisë më thanë të njëjtën gjë: ‘Ju lutem, mos e tërhiqni KFOR-in, sepse ai është e vetmja spirancë e stabilitetit’”, ka treguar Hodges.“Kjo ka ndodhur disa vite më parë, por ajo bisedë më ka mbetur në mendje. Tregon se nuk është e nevojshme të ketë një numër të madh trupash në terren; vetë prania e KFOR-it shërben si një pikë stabiliteti”, shton ai.Hodges ka theksuar edhe rëndësinë e pranisë amerikane në Kosovë, duke thënë se siguria e Evropës është në interes të drejtpërdrejtë të Shteteve të Bashkuara.“Vetëm kështu ajo mund të jetë edhe e begatë, pasi Evropa është partneri më i madh tregtar i Amerikës.Prandaj, paqëndrueshmëria në Ballkanin Perëndimor kontribuon në paqëndrueshmërinë edhe në pjesë të tjera të Evropës dhe krijon dobësi që Rusia do të përpiqet t’i shfrytëzojë. Kështu do ta formuloja unë rëndësinë e pranisë amerikane në Kosovë”, ka shtuar ish-ushtaraku amerikan.Në fund, duke folur për hapat që Kosova duhet t’i ndërmarrë për t’u bërë një partnere më e besueshme, Hodges ka thënë se Prishtina duhet të vazhdojë punën për përmbushjen e kushteve që kërkohen për anëtarësim në Bashkimin Evropian.“Ky është drejtimi ku duhet të ecë.
