Pedro Sola en el ojo del huracán por comentarios sobre perros

Pedro Sola se encuentra en el ojo del huracán tras las palabras pronunciadas el pasado lunes durante el programa ‘Ventaneando’, transmisión en la que tras contar un conflicto con la trabajadora de un negocio comenzó a despotricar contra varias situaciones que no le gustan, por ejemplo, el ver perros en tiendas, restaurantes y otros espacios públicos. Lo anterior lo llevó a decir que le dan ganas de aventar un trozo de “carne envenenada” para estas mascotas, además de “darle un balazo” a los dueños de perritos que los llevan a dichos espacios públicos a bordo de carriolas. Aunque los comentarios fueron señalados por Mónica Castañeda, el resto de los presentes, o sea, Pati Chapoy y Ricardo Manjarrez se rieron de lo pronunciado. Bastaron horas para que los polémicos comentarios se volvieran virales en redes sociales, donde la polémica pronto creció con usuarios y activistas animales que no solo lamentaron la postura de Pedro Sola, sino que también pidieron sanciones en su contra por utilizar un programa de televisión abierta para presuntamente incitar al odio y normalizar la violencia en contra de los animales. “Mónica Castañeda me va a odiar, pero yo no tolero a los perros en la tienda, a los perros en el super, a los perros cagando en el restaurante. Oigan, ¿qué es eso?, ¿se volvieron locos o qué? Con ganas de aventar un trozo de carne envenenada” y “las que llevan tres (perros) en una carriola, dan ganas de darles un balazo a los dueños”, fueron los comentarios del conductor. Hasta el momento Pedro Sola no se ha pronunciado al respecto. (Foto: IG @tiopedritosola) Ante ello, las reacciones en redes sociales no se hicieron esperar por parte de animalistas que enviaron mensajes claros y contundentes en contra del también economista para recordarle que la violencia nunca será una forma de divertir a la audiencia; además, otros exhibieron casos de perritos que fueron rescatados de las calles o que murieron a causa de pensamientos como los de él. Uno de los casos más sonados fue el de la fundación Cuenta Conmigo, quien a través de X compartió un mensaje recordando que todos los seres vivos merecen respeto, además de protección. “¡La crueldad animal NO es un chiste ni se debe normalizar! Repudiamos los comentarios hechos por #PedroSola en televisión nacional, donde incitó al odio y a la violencia al mencionar que le gustaría ‘envenenar perros’ Los animales merecen respeto y protección en todo momento”, se lee en su mensaje. Sin embargo, no fueron los únicos en lanzarse contra el conductor de televisión, pues a los reclamos se sumó Orlando Alemán, fundador de Huellitas Alemán con base en Cancún, quien por medio de un video replicó las palabras de Pedro Sola para hacerle un par de cuestionamientos. Entre ellos y alguna vez había visto a un perro envenenado o quemado, porque él sí con los casos de Caramelo y Happy, animales a los que intentó salvar del maltrato animal y además le externó: “Por culpa de comentarios como los tuyos que miles de personas, que ven tu programa, las personas cometen ese tipo de crueldad animal; se me hace lamentable, denigrante y sobre todo mesquino que tú con tu audiencia incites al odio animal cuando en México miles de perritos son sacrificados, miles son maltrratados por imbécil** como tú”, dijo. Cabe mencionar que no solo los activistas y amantes de los animales reaccionaron a los comentarios de Pedro Sola, ya que varias figuras del espectáculo agradecieron la difusión para hacer conciencia sobre el maltrato animal, entre ellos destacan: “Gracias por hacer conciencia”, dijo Susana Zabaleta “Gracias por darles voz”, añadió María León.

Why Republican Confidence in Trump's Economy is Crumbling

The confidence Republicans have in President Donald Trump’s economy is sinking in 2026, according to a new poll, a trend that spells trouble for the GOP as the November midterms approach.Affordability has already emerged as a key concern in a number of financial respects—from housing and healthcare to groceries and debt—as well as a major political vulnerability for the administration, which has been attempting to pursue a number of pro-affordability measures in recent months as surveys continue to show concern about the Trump's economic stewardship.According to a new Harris poll commissioned by The Guardian, 95 percent of Americans now believe the country is in the midst of an affordability “crisis.” The pessimism has grown across political affiliations and with a clear increase following the launch of the Iran war on February 28.A majority (57 percent) of Americans say the U.S. economy is getting worse, compared to 46 percent in February. Over that period, the number who think the economy is improving shrank from 28 percent to 16 percent.Meanwhile, the share of Republicans who think things are improving economically has fallen sharply to 27 percent from 49 percent, as the number who think things are becoming worse rose from 22 percent to 38 percent. The survey was conducted using a nationally representative sample of 4,100 American adults May 28-June 6....MAGA's Financial Difficulties Spell Trouble for GOPPolitical consultant and veteran GOP strategist Mike Madrid described the findings as “very grim for Republican prospects,” citing other surveys showing broader declines in consumer confidence as well as concerns over the stickiness of gas prices.Despite some slight recoveries, the Conference Board and University of Michigan surveys on consumer sentiment show that this continues to sit at near multi-year lows. In the latter study, May marked the lowest reading in records going back to the 1970s.Several recent polls have found that Trump’s approval rating on the economy has fallen to below President Joe Biden’s lowest level.“Trump has lost his biggest advantage [and is] now polling lower than Biden on the economy,” Madrid told Newsweek while noting that Democratic turnout in recent elections “has been volcanic.”The poll released on Tuesday also revealed sliding optimism among demographics that could be considered Trump’s main base.In the most recent Harris survey, 45 percent of Americans without a college degree said their financial situation was worsening, up from 42 percent in April 2025. Among rural Americans, the figure has grown to 49 percent from 42 percent.Among those who count themselves as part of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) coalition, 56 percent said they were struggling financially, with difficulties meeting house payments (56 percent), as well as paying for health care (57 percent), groceries (61 percent) and gas (63 percent).Given the broad-based financial pressures facing the country, and the extent to which many blame the administration, Madrid said “desperate” GOP candidates may be forced to “distance themselves from Trump” when campaigning this year.“Is it likely to work? Texas Sparks Debate with New Parental Consent Law for Apps

The Supreme Court may be formally out of session for the year, but the justices remain busy with additional cases that continue to make their way to the docket.And Monday was no different.A majority of justices allowed Texas to continue enforcing, for now, a law requiring app stores to verify users’ ages and obtain parental consent before minors can download apps or make in-app purchases.In two brief, unsigned orders, the justices declined to reinstate injunctions issued by a federal judge in Austin that had blocked the law from taking effect. No justice publicly dissented from the Court’s decision.The dispute centers on the Texas App Store Accountability Act, also known as Senate Bill 2420. The law has been challenged by two separate groups, SCOTUSBlog reported.One lawsuit was filed by Students Engaged in Advancing Texas, an organization that says its members use mobile applications to educate young people about public policy and civic engagement.The second was brought by the Computer & Communications Industry Association, a trade organization representing app stores and app developers.Among other claims, both lawsuits argue that the law violates the First Amendment, the blog noted.In December, U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman temporarily blocked enforcement of the law.Last month, however, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stayed those injunctions, allowing the statute to take effect while the litigation continues.The challengers then asked the Supreme Court to restore the lower court’s orders, but the justices declined to do so, SCOTUSBlog noted further.In their filing asking the Supreme Court to reinstate Pitman’s orders, the students argued that the 5th Circuit’s decision “would render virtually the entire internet—not to mention the distribution of every book, newspaper, magazine, movie, or record album—‘commercial speech’ the government could more readily ban, restrict, edit, or compel. That is clearly wrong.”The plaintiffs argued further that Texas already blocks children from accessing adult content on the internet in a separate law that the nation’s highest court upheld last year. Supreme Court allows Texas to enforce law requiring age verification and parental consent on appshttps://t.co/MYp4VBYc0l — SCOTUSblog (@SCOTUSblog) July 6, 2026As such, the students argued, SB 2420’s stated goal of protecting them “from ‘accessing harmful or inappropriate content’ … is not a valid government interest.”In a brief of its own, the CCIA argued that the 5th Circuit’s decision “has upset the status quo by allowing the Act to be enforced for the first time, exposing app stores and millions of app developers to potential liability”The ruling subjected app stores and developers to “enormous and unrecoverable compliance costs.”The group added that, in any event, the app stores that the CCIA’s members currently operate already “provide various, voluntary tools that enable parents to control their children’s exposure to apps and content.”Texas argued that Senate Bill 2420 regulates commercial transactions rather than protected speech.Specifically, the state contended that the law governs the circumstances under which minors may agree to the contractual terms and conditions required to download applications from an app store.“In the same way that the State can deny drivers’ licenses to children under sixteen,” Texas argued, “even though some fourteen-year-olds may wish to drive to a bookstore and purchase a book, the State can restrict children’s downloads of software applications to mobile devices as a product category, even if some children may wish to use applications to engage in expressive conduct.”Texas also argued that because Senate Bill 2420 applies to all applications regardless of their content, the federal district court relied on the wrong constitutional standard in concluding that the law likely violates the First Amendment.According to the state, the court should have applied a less demanding standard of review—known as intermediate scrutiny—rather than the more rigorous level of constitutional scrutiny used in the ruling.The Texas law can pass that test, the state argued, noting that, as the appeals court held: “‘Requiring age verification, parental consent, and app-related content ratings likely directly and materially advances Texas’s substantial interest in protecting children’s data, safety, and privacy in a digital world.’”This article may contain commentary which reflects the author's opinion.
