Austin Roest's Heartfelt Message After Girlfriend's Cancer Diagnosis

NHL prospect Austin Roest shared a message of support after his girlfriend, Milly Okabe, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  “Milly, I don’t even know what to say,” Roest, 22, wrote via Instagram on Friday, September 4. “I am so sorry this is happening to you. No one deserves to go through this. That being said, I have no doubt in my mind you will beat cancer. You are the strongest person I know and I know you will overcome everything that comes your way over the next year. I love you so much and I will be right there with you through all of this ❤️.” The hockey player shared two pictures from Okabe’s hospital bed, while urging his followers to donate to a GoFundMe set up “to help support Milly and her family during this difficult time.” Roest was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft. He split last season between the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators. According to the GoFundMe, Okabe, 22, was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer that starts in the glands that line the organs.  Okabe revealed her diagnosis on Friday in a social media post of her own.  “There’s a lot of fear of the unknown, but what I do know is that I am extremely lucky in this life to have friends that are family, and a family that loves me this hard,” she shared via Instagram. Okabe added, “Thank you to everyone who has supported me in any way. I’m so extremely grateful.” Roest and Okabe have been dating for over three years, per the athlete’s Instagram. “1 year with the best ❤️,” he gushed in June 2024.  Okabe, a former figure skater, is described as “a kind, strong and selfless person who means so much to everyone around her,” in the fundraiser arranged in her honor. “Skating has always been a huge part of Milara’s life,” the GoFundMe reads. “After spending years as a high-level skater herself, she now loves being able to share that passion by teaching kids how to skate. Outside of the rink, she is constantly with the people she loves the most — her friends and family, as well as simply having the most fun in everything she does.” The page continues, “As Milara goes through treatment, her family is doing everything possible to remain by her side. Along with the emotional weight of her diagnosis, she is now facing time away from work, travel and accommodation costs, medications, fertility preservation, and many other unexpected expenses. Our hope is to surround Milara and her family with the same love and support they have always shown the people around them. By easing some of the financial pressure, we hope they can focus their energy on what matters most right now Milara’s care, well-being, and spending time together as a family.” Okabe’s GoFundMe had raised over $50,000 at the time of this story’s publication.

Cetățenii români care au împlinit vârsta de 18 ani pot face obiectul unor forme de serviciu militar. În cazul rezervei și al încorporării pentru serviciul militar activ în timp de război, limitele standard pentru bărbați sunt de regulă între 20 și 35 de ani (pentru militari în termen) sau până la 55–60 de ani pentru cadre militare în rezervă.Cine are obligația să meargă la război în caz de nevoie în România? Donald Trump’ s immediate response to 9/11 has resurfaced 25 years later. On September 11, 2001 , the US came to a standstill after al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger planes in an attack that killed 2,977 people. Two planes struck the Twin Towers of New York City's World Trade Center, while a third hit the Pentagon in Virginia. The fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers tried to fight back. Now, as the country prepares to mark 25 years since that day, comments Trump made just hours after the attacks have resurfaced, and one comment has shocked people online. 9/11 is regarded as the deadliest terrorist attack in modern history. Trump, who was working in New York at the time, appeared on WWOR/UPN 9 News in the immediate aftermath and described seeing a "huge explosion" after the passenger aircraft struck the World Trade Center. During the live interview, the then-businessman was asked whether security had been tightened at Trump Tower following the attack. "We've always had very strong security but there's very little you can do about planes crashing into a building," he replied. Trump then turned his attention to another of his properties, the 71-story 40 Wall Street, located just blocks from where the attacks happened. He explained that it "was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest - and then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second-tallest. And now it’s the tallest." But, according to Forbes , Trump's claim was incorrect, as 70 Pine Street, just one block away, stood 25 feet taller than 40 Wall Street. Many people have revisited the interview nearly 25 years later and expressed shock that Trump discussed his building’s height so soon after the attacks. One user described his immediate response as "evil." Another person wrote on YouTube: "This interview is astonishing to hear." Trump, now the president, will not attend the ceremony in New York. The New York Times reported that the 80-year-old pulled out after his administration was informed of the existing policy that political figures cannot address the crowd. Without naming those claims, the White House responded : "As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has spoken about his own experiences watching the horrific events of September 11, 2001. "On the 25th anniversary of this tragic day, the President will remember those who were killed at the hands of evil terrorists, honor their loved ones, and pay tribute to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line to rescue their fellow Americans," they added. His office announced that he will sign two executive orders honoring victims, first responders, survivors, city workers, and families affected by the attacks. The first will set aside time on September 11 for a moment of silence honoring those killed and those who have suffered health consequences since. City agencies will also be encouraged to hold memorial ceremonies, educational programming, and other remembrance activities. "I am honored to establish the City’s first Day of Remembrance and Service on September 11th to remember those we lost on that horrific day and the first responders, families and city workers whose lives were irrevocably changed in the aftermath. Through this executive order, we are calling on New Yorkers to honor their memory through service and deep reflection," Mamdani said . "We must also recognize that remembrance carries a responsibility to strengthen our city, protect New Yorkers and ensure that government is prepared to deliver for people no matter the circumstances. ‘Never Forget’ is not a slogan. Celeste Rivas’ Family Demands Death Penalty for D4vd Amid Harrowing Accusations

The family of Celeste Rivas said they are in support of singer D4vd facing the death penalty as he prepares to stand trial accused of her murder. “If the death penalty were activated, it would be perfect for this kind of human being, devoid of feelings and emptiness inside, and without conscience, who only caused pain to our daughter, our family, and the world that supports our precious daughter,” Rivas’ family said in a Sunday, September 6, statement to The California Post, issued one day before what would have been Rivas’ 16th birthday. The statement added, “But that’s not in our hands, but rather in God’s, and the California justice system.” D4vd — real name David Anthony Burke — was arrested in April and charged with one count of murder in connection with Rivas’ death, as well as one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and one count of unlawful mutilation of human remains. The body of 14-year-old Rivas was found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer in September 2025. During an arraignment hearing on August 31, D4vd pleaded not guilty to murder. At the time, the singer also changed his legal team, replacing high-profile celebrity lawyers Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter with a public defender. “This morning, the court granted our request to withdraw as counsel and appoint the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, after it was determined David qualified for appointed counsel,” Berk, Bednarski and Peter said in a statement, per Rolling Stone. “We continue to support David and his defense against these serious charges. We are grateful that the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office had taken over the representation and that David has a highly capable and committed team of attorneys and investigators behind him.” In its case against D4vd, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office alleged that the singer killed Rivas on April 23, 2025, one day after they had a “lengthy argument” over text messages. The prosecution alleged that D4vd stabbed Rivas to death in the garage of his Hollywood Hills home before using a chainsaw and other objects to dismember her body. Prosecutors argued that he “amputated her left ring and pinky fingers because her ring finger contained a tattoo of his name. Her fingers have not been recovered. Defendant then placed her head and torso into the cadaver bag he purchased. He placed her limbs into a garbage bag, which he deposited into his front trunk, laying the cadaver bag on top. For several weeks, or possibly months, defendant left the victim’s body to decompose inside his Tesla.” At the time of his April arrest, D4vd’s former legal team denied the singer was involved in Rivas’ death. “Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the singer’s attorneys told TMZ.

The question is where to draw the line when an opening act uses a global concert platform to advance a one-sided political agenda,” the group added.“This becomes even more troubling when the message relies on selective imagery, biased messaging, and disputed claims presented to a massive audience as fact, without context or complexity.”The Grammy-winning Macklemore, who wore a keffiyeh while opening for Sheeran, appears here wearing the traditional Mideast scarf during a Dublin show in June. It was really horrifying,” they told Ynet.  “It was even harder because friends of ours were killed in the war and murdered at Nova. It was like a knife in the heart to hear him sing that way and hear people cheering.” Mark Treyger, CEO of the New York Jewish Coalition, noted that the incident comes at a time when antisemitic hate crimes are running rampant following the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attacks on Israel.To turn a major concert into a platform for “one-sided political messaging” only helps to divide people rather than address the issues at hand, Treyger warned. “Ed Sheeran and his team should heed these serious concerns,” he told The Post. “Artists with extraordinary platforms also have extraordinary opportunities to use their talents to heal, bring people together and lower the temperature rather than raise it.”  Macklemore has repeatedly slammed Israel for the casualties in Gaza while performing on stage. He first called the war “a genocide” while speaking at a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington in 2023, and later chanted “F–k America” during a similar rally in 2024 over then-President Joe Biden’s support of Israel. Israel has been accused of committing genocide in Gaza, where the war has claimed more than 73,000 lives inside the Palestinian enclave, according to the Hamas-run ministry of health, which does not differentiate between civilians and terrorists. Israel said it only tagets terrorists and makes efforts to warn civilians to get out of the area before an attack.The IAC called for not only Macklemore to be removed from Sheeran’s remaining tour dates, but for all venues to establish clear boundaries between entertainment and political performances.  “Jewish patrons should not be subjected to this propaganda,” the StopAntisemitism group wrote on X in response to Friday’s incident.“Fans deserve apologies and refunds. Unacceptable.”
