Will Lumir Abdixhiku Face a No-Confidence Vote in LDK?

Supreme Court Ruling Shakes Up Midterms: Why Republicans May Prevail New

Supreme Court Ruling Shakes Up Midterms: Why Republicans May Prevail

The Supreme Court's decision on Tuesday rolling back longstanding limits on the amount of money political parties can spend in coordination with individual candidates is set to make political parties far more impactful in the 2026 midterms. What can parties and donors do now that they couldn't do before? The official party committees will no longer have to go through the process of having a firewalled independent expenditure wing that cannot coordinate with candidates on strategy. They needed these because, formerly, spending coordinated between the candidates and party committees was capped by federal law, which meant that parties could only spend more than that through independent expenditures. This change allows the party committees to use their money in more ways, and to work more in lockstep with candidates, according to strategists who spoke with ABC News.Additionally, the decision could lead to cheaper ads.Candidates committees get access to a discounted rate, the "Lowest Unit Charge" (LUC) for television advertisements. Before the ruling, political committees and outside groups would have to pay more money for the same ad reservations. Now, they will not have to, and can coordinate even more closely on messaging and strategy at the lower rate. The U.S. Supreme Court, on the day justices have issued orders, in Washington, D.C., June 29, 2026.Cheney Orr/ReutersBecause individual donors can annually give more to parties than individual candidates, more money may now be available for, and directed to, television advertisements. Why might Republicans benefit more than Democrats from the decision, at least in the short term?  In a memo obtained by ABC News, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which works to elect Republicans to the Senate, outlined how they feel the ruling is set to help them more than Democrats."The NRSC can spend without limit in direct coordination with all Senate campaigns on all expenditures. Historically, most NRSC advertising was produced and distributed independently -- it could not be informed by strategic conversations with the campaign about message, targeting, timing, or creative. Those restrictions are now gone," the memo to NRSC supporters and allies said. The committee also made the argument that while the ruling applies to both parties, "the practical impact is asymmetric. This cycle, the Republican party committees vastly outraised our Democrat counterparts, and the more a committee raises, the more it benefits from unlimited coordinated spending at preferential rates," the memo says. The Republican National Committee has more than $125 million in its reserves, according to the most recent campaign disclosures. The Democratic National Committee disclosures showed the party has less than $15 million on hand and is more than $18 million in debt, recent campaign disclosures show.In this July 18, 2024, file photo, Republican presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump and members of the Trump family look on after Trump officially accepted the Republican presidential nomination on the fourth day of the Republican National Convention at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.Leon Neal/Getty Images, FILEWhen asked about the party's fundraising challenges, Democrats have pointed to strong fundraising numbers from individual candidates and campaigns, and the party's successes in the off-year elections in 2025. Popular ReadsGOP strategist Doug Heye told ABC News, "The GOP has been working on this for years and is poised to take a quick advantage. It's not clear if the Democrats, who were in denial about this, will be able to do the same."Sawyer Hackett, a Democratic strategist, said he feels the Democratic Party "has been caught flat footed and not put in serious effort to fundraise ahead of midterms," Hackett said, while now the Republican Party can more fully use the money it has stockpiled immediately. How might Democrats respond? They may have opposed the successful lawsuit, but Democrats will now scramble to adjust to the new landscape. Alex Hoffman, a Democratic donor adviser, told ABC News that Democrats need to continue courting high net worth donors, even as many in the party continue to speak out against the influence of billionaires in politics. "You can't shake your fist at the other side and just keep saying that we're winning the moral high ground argument, but then continue losing elections. ... You can make billionaires public enemy number one all you want, but in the end we need them, we cannot be the party that relies solely on $1 donors, because we will not win elections," Hoffman said. In this Aug. 22, 2024, file photo, Democratic presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris waves to the crowd after speaking on stage during the final day of the Democratic National Convention at the United Center in Chicago.Kevin Dietsch/Getty Images, FILEShekar Narisimhan, chairman and founder of the Democratic Party-aligned AAPI Victory Fund, told ABC News that the decision allows the group, which is a hybrid PAC with some ability to donate to candidates and committees directly, to spend more effectively. AAPI Victory Fund also has a 501(c)(4) arm, which Narisimhan said often does a lot of preelection work unrelated to specific candidates, such as educating voters and encouraging them to turn out; "a lot of the work will shift even more into our (c)(4)," he said, which will allow the group to have more impact on galvanizing voters and playing its own role ahead of candidates being set.One Democratic strategist told ABC News that the decision could help the DNC's fundraising, since the party -- and congressional committee's funds -- can now go farther. "This puts a bigger spotlight on [DNC Chairman] Ken Martin" and the committee's fundraising efforts, the strategist, who is advising multiple congressional campaigns, told ABC News.ABC News' Benjamin Siegel contributed to this report.

USMNT's Bold Win Over Bosnia Despite Balogun's Red Card New

USMNT's Bold Win Over Bosnia Despite Balogun's Red Card

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Mauricio Pochettino wants his team to touch the moon, and it is getting ever closer to the stars. Twenty-four years after USA 2, Mexico 0 in Jeonju came USA 2, Bosnia-Herzegovina 0 on a sun-splashed Wednesday in Santa Clara. Of course it had to be dos a cero again. The U.S. waited a generation and the long-lasting 26 minutes that followed Folarin Balogun’s red card between knockout round victories at a World Cup. Every second was worth it. The losing streak against UEFA is over, with wins against Bosnia sandwiching a nearly five-year drought. So too is the knockout stage losing streak and so too, just maybe, is the inferiority complex that’s plagued American soccer when it comes up against so-called soccer nations. The true test of that will come next week in Seattle when the USMNT faces Belgium, which knocked the U.S. out in Brazil 12 years ago and beat it 5-2 in a March friendly. Balogun being sent off 64 minutes in for landing on Tarik Muharemovic’s ankle — a call decided after a lengthy VAR review — changed the tenor of a Round of 32 match the U.S. had been, if not dominating, then certainly in control of. Folarin Balogun scored the USMNT’s first goal on July 1, 2026. BENJAMIN FANJOY/EPA/ShutterstockThe Bosnians, though, failed completely to take advantage. Instead of attacking the way they should have, they let the U.S. continue to find space with 10 men, and the game devolved into something overly physical. Without the red card, that might have favored Bosnia. With it, Stjepan Radeljic’s challenge on Sergiño Dest just outside the box handed the Americans the opportunity they needed to put the match away. Malik Tillman, who had assisted Balogun’s opening goal, who had been so silky all evening, did not let it go to waste. He dipped a gorgeous free kick over the wall and into the corner for a 2-0 lead that, 82 minutes into the match, gave the U.S. what it so desperately needed. Given how leads have so easily fallen to bits in the knockout stage of this World Cup, the relative lack of drama here came as a shock. Give immense credit to Tim Ream, Chris Richards and a U.S. back line that — so frequently questioned coming into this tournament — stood tall when needed most. Richards, so good in the air, seemed to win every duel in the second half. Matt Freese, rarely tested before Wednesday, proved himself in total command. Malik Tillman scored the second goal for the U.S. off a free kick. FIFA via Getty ImagesThe World Cup bracket after Wednesday night.Tillman, though, ought to be the man of the match. He has been an unsung hero the entire World Cup, and has now helped pilot the U.S. into the Round of 16, already a better tournament result than Germany, his birth country, which he spurned to play here. The first 64 minutes cut a much different tone than the last 26. This USMNT — Pochettino’s USMNT — does not sit on its hands and wait for the game to come to it. The Americans probe and search and then they smash and grab. Balogun, the breakout star of this World Cup, had one goal called back for offside and two penalty appeals denied before the striker swept in Tillman’s pass with his left foot after 44 minutes. Those appeals, it turned out, were only the start of Balogun’s problems with Brazilian referee Raphael Claus. The U.S. will be without its star man against Belgium too as a result. Folarin Balogun was handed a red card in the second half. Getty ImagesIt was the latest the U.S. has scored an opener so far in the World Cup, reflecting a Bosnia defense that was the toughest it had faced thus far. Sergej Barbarez set his team up in a 5-3-2, and Bosnia defended in a compact, organized manner. Line-breaking passes that came easily in the group stage rarely appeared, and Bosnia successfully played right up to the line physically without stepping over too often. Pochettino’s exhortation to his team, released in a video by U.S. Soccer on Wednesday morning, was to go where only Americans have ever gone. Every match of the FIFA World Cup will air on either FOX or FOX Sports 1. If you don’t have cable, you can take advantage of a DIRECTV free trial to stream it all.Prefer to check out the action live and in person? Shop World Cup 2026 tickets on SeatGeek and make sure to use promo code NYPOST10 for $10 off purchases over $250 at checkout if you’re a first-time SeatGeek user.“The objective is to touch the moon,” Pochettino said. “I want to touch the moon.” The journey will be much harder without Balogun on the ship. But right now, the sky looks to be no limit at all.

Why CBP's New Warning to Migrants Is Stirring Concerns New

Why CBP's New Warning to Migrants Is Stirring Concerns

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a weather-related warning to foreign nationals against attempting to illegally enter the United States.“As the summer heats up, the already dangerous attempts to enter the U.S. illegally worsen. Do not risk your life,” the CBP said in a June 27 post on X.CBP shared a post from Justin De La Torre, chief patrol agent of Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector, which said, “Illegally crossing San Diego’s Otay Mountain is dangerous with rough terrain and extreme weather. Two Mexican Nationals were caught by Chula Vista Border Patrol. Our agents patrol day and night; the border is secure. Don’t risk your life or money trusting smugglers.”The ongoing summer season in the United States is expected to last until late September. The National Weather Service predicts July 2 temperatures in the southern United States to mostly be in a range of 90 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.CBP’s warning to foreign nationals comes as six illegal immigrants were found dead in May inside a sweltering railroad boxcar in Laredo, Texas.Preliminary medical reports on the individuals, from Mexico and Honduras, determined that the cause of death for all six people was severe heatstroke, according to Laredo Mayor Victor Treviño.Related Stories“They did not pass away in our city but were discovered here after hours of suffering and eventually dying several hours before arriving,” Treviño said at a news conference.Out of the six individuals, one was a 14-year-old boy, another was a woman, and the remaining four were men. Authorities found no survivors with them.In June 2025, a man from Arizona was charged with human smuggling after 17 illegal immigrants were found to have been put inside vehicles in “inhumane conditions in sweltering heat,” Border Patrol chief of the Tucson Sector wrote in a social media post at the time.In January 2025, the CBP said that a migrant died from heat-related injuries after crossing illegally into the United States. When the man was taken into custody, authorities noticed that he was hot to the touch and drifting in and out of consciousness. He eventually succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.Since 2014, there have been a total of 2,980 recorded deaths of people who tried to cross the border into the United States from Mexico, according to data from the Missing Migrants Project, run by the International Organization for Migration. In a Feb. 20 update, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that human smuggling is a multibillion-dollar industry for transnational criminal groups that take advantage of vulnerable people.“The driving purpose for human smugglers to commit this crime is money. They have no concern for humanity and are simply looking to make a profit,” the agency said.“Smuggling routes and conditions expose people to health hazards, including lack of access to medical care, unsanitary conditions, and the spread of infectious diseases. This can lead to illness, injury, and even death among smuggled migrants.”Crackdown on SmugglersOn June 15, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said that a Mexican national was sentenced to 87 months in prison for being part of a smuggling group that operated for many years at the U.S. border with Mexico.More recently, on June 29, the DOJ announced that an extradited Mexican national pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle thousands of foreigners from various nations into the United States. This investigation was supported and prosecuted by Joint Task Force Alpha, a Justice Department effort to combat smuggling and trafficking activities carried out by cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The task force’s work has led to the arrests of more than 464 domestic and international leaders, organizers, and facilitators of human smuggling and trafficking. This has resulted in more than 414 convictions and more than 360 jail sentences.Meanwhile, CBP said in a June 18 statement that Border Patrol released zero illegal immigrants into the country at the U.S.–Mexico border for the 13th straight month in May.President Donald Trump recently applauded the achievement, according to a video shared in a June 24 X post from the official White House account.“We’re removing murderers, gang members, drug dealers, and dangerous criminals by the thousands,” Trump said.“I want to say a very special thanks to all of the men and women who have helped liberate America from this scourge—the heroes of ICE and Border Patrol.“We inherited the worst, most dangerous, most wide open, and insecure border in history. And we have quickly turned it into the strongest, most secure border in the history of our country.”Reuters contributed to this report.

GC ImagesThe Bravolebrity told us that her dad took issue with her “kissing in public,” but she explained to him that he didn’t “know the whole story.”While she didn’t explicitly state where she and Cooke currently stand, Dash couldn’t help but gush about her friendship with Cooke and the rest of the “Summer House” cast.“Honestly, me and Kyle and a lot of the ‘Summer House’ people are in the same friend group now. We’ve all gotten so close,” she shared.“It’s not something I was expecting, but a lot of my best friends are friends with him and friends with Jesse [Solomon]. Like, I went to Coachella with Jesse and Mia [Calabrese], so I got to really know her there. I love their friend group so much.”Dash added: “I’ve always been friends with people slightly older than me. So, I just feel very comfortable with them.”Dash explained that she and Cooke (seen here with Carl Radke at the Palm Tree Music Festival) became close as a result of her becoming friends with the “Summer House” cast. CelsiusCooke and Dash fueled romance speculation over the weekend after they were seen smooching “openly” at the Palm Tree Music Festival, according to a source. CelsiusAs Page Six exclusively reported, a spy caught Cooke and Dash getting very cozy in their VIP section at the Palm Tree Music Festival on the Shinnecock Nation grounds in Southampton.“They were hanging out at a table in the VIP section for sponsor Celsius,” the eyewitness said. “It seemed like something romantic was going on from the way they looked at each other. There was definitely a vibe that they were into each other.”Another source told us that the two reality stars were “kissing openly.” While one insider told us that the duo are still in the “very new” stage of “talking and hanging out,” another source close to Cooke — who ended his marriage to Amanda Batula earlier this year — emphasized that they are not dating.“They were hanging out at a table in the VIP section for sponsor Celsius,” the insider told Page Six. No, that was a very friendly dinner,” he told host Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” in March.“We were at a family dinner doing a family blessing, holding hands, so I was holding her [hand].” Community GuidelinesWelcome to the Page Six Community! Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
