Russell Brand is facing a grim reality behind bars at one of London’s most troubled prisons.The “Get Him to the Greek” actor, 51, is being held at HMP Wandsworth following his conviction for rape and three counts of sexual assault. The Metropolitan PoliceThe report stated that two men were routinely required to share single-occupancy cells, with some described as “cramped, squalid and featuring broken or missing windows, furniture and fittings.”Basic necessities were also in short supply, with inmates sometimes going two or three weeks without a full change of clothing. First-time visitors must have their fingerprints taken for the security system, and anyone entering the facility, including children, must undergo a “rub-down search.”Security dogs are also on site, meaning visitors may be subjected to searches by passive drug-detection teams.Wandsworth also enforces a strict dress code, warning visitors they could be turned away for wearing vests, low-cut tops, high-cut shorts or dresses and ripped jeans. Metropolitan Police/AFP via Getty ImagesHowever, the prison does offer inmates a chance to prepare for their next act.Inmates can take part in educational and vocational training, with courses ranging from English, math and computer skills to barbering, catering, bicycle repair, gardening, construction and radio production.Other activities include yoga, mindfulness, parenting skills, embroidery and choir.Brand will also have opportunities to maintain contact with his family, should they wish to keep in touch.The prison holds monthly family days, allowing inmates extra time with their children in a more relaxed setting, as well as a homework club where fathers can help with schoolwork.Video calls, phone calls and emails are also available.Laura Brand will have the opportunity visit her husband in HMP Wandsworth–after undergoing strict security protocol. Getty ImagesFollowing a nearly two-year investigation launched after several women went public with allegations, Brand was charged in 2025 with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.Brand pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations throughout his trial. Following Thursday’s convictions, Kally Sahota, an attorney and director of Sahota & Sahota Solicitors, exclusively told Page Six that he expects Brand to be sentenced to “eight or nine years.”Brand’s sentencing is scheduled for Monday.
