Learjet Plummets 35,000 Feet in 76 Seconds Before Fatal Florida Crash

Published 17:19 2 Nov 2026 GMTAll nine people on board the private jet died as witnesses on the ground in South Florida said 'everything was on fire'A reconstruction of the private jet which crashed into a South Florida neighbourhood shows what might have happened in ‘the last three minutes’. All nine people on board the Learjet 60 aircraft from Texas died, as videos taken by passers-by show the terrifying moment the Bahamas-bound aircraft plunged 35,000 feet to the ground on Sunday afternoon (1 November). Flight analysis indicated that the plane may have encountered severe weather and reported icing just before it plummeted into a roadway in Palm Beach County.Air traffic control audio recorded moments before the crash, appears to show someone in the cockpit reporting ‘moderate turbulence’ and that the crew was ‘managing the ice’.AdvertAn account on X (@elteslaengineer) has since made a reconstruction to show what might have happened just minutes before the crash. A 4D reconstruction shows what might have happened in the minutes prior to the crash (X/@elteslaengineer)“The Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County today went from 35,000 ft to the ground in 76 seconds,” the user wrote. “I rebuilt the last 3 minutes in 4D from ADS-B, ATC audio, a NEXRAD analysis and dashcam video, then ran the engineering. Here's what the data says, and what it doesn't.”What might have gone wrong?Justin Crabbe, the CEO of private aviation platforms Jettly and BlackJet, tells LADbible that ‘based on the pilot's references to icing and turbulence, it's possible the aircraft was encountering weather conditions that were affecting its performance and controllability’. “Ice accumulation can reduce lift, increase drag and raise the aircraft's stall speed. If the aircraft was struggling to maintain airspeed or altitude, the situation could have deteriorated very quickly,” he suggests. “However, without the complete cockpit audio, flight data and other evidence, it's difficult to say exactly what happened or whether icing was ultimately responsible.”Why is there a lack of debris left at the crash site?(Saul Martinez/Getty Images)Crabbe notes that ‘the amount of visible debris depends heavily on the aircraft's speed, angle of impact, the surface it strikes and whether there was a post-impact fire’.“A high-energy impact like that can break an aircraft into very small pieces, with much of the wreckage concentrated around the impact point rather than scattered over a large area,” he explains. “Some debris may also be buried beneath the surface or removed by emergency crews. A relatively small debris field doesn't necessarily mean anything unusual happened before impact.”What have the authorities said?(Mehmet Yaren Bozgun/Anadolu via Getty Images)20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras has been identified as one of the nine who died. In a statement shared with LADbible, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said: “A Learjet 60 crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven, Florida, around 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 1. Nine people were on board.“The aircraft departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.“The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB is in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates.”Crabbe believes that ‘investigators will be working to reconstruct the aircraft's final flight path, including its altitude, airspeed, descent rate and any unusual changes in direction or attitude’. “They'll examine available cockpit recordings, air traffic control communications, radar and ADS-B data, along with weather reports and any evidence of icing in the area. They'll also look at the aircraft's maintenance history, anti-icing equipment, engine performance and the physical wreckage to determine whether there were any mechanical issues,” he adds. Uhapšen načelnik Kričak: Simbol korupcije pao zbog unutrašnjih sukoba New

Foto: Vladislav Mitić/Nova.rs autor: 02. nov. Jet Crash at 340 mph Leaves No Recognisable Wreckage in Florida

Updated 12:48 2 Nov 2026 GMTPublished 12:41 2 Nov 2026 GMTAll nine people on board the aircraft have since been confirmed deceased Warning: This article contains content which some readers may find distressingLast night (1 November), footage emerged of a Learjet 60 smashing into the ground on a road in West Palm Beach, Florida, before exploding into a frightening fireball. All nine passengers and crew onboard the aircraft have been confirmed deceased, following an announcement from US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The identities of those onboard have not been publicly released. The US Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are now investigating the cause of the incident, as numerous theories about what could've contributed to the crash circulate online.AdvertQuestions have also been raised about the lack of recognisable wreckage at the crash site, with several aviation experts now explaining that this is due to the speed at which the jet collided with the ground. The aircraft had been travelling from Austin, Texas, bound to the Bahamas (Saul Martinez/Getty Images)According to released cockpit audio, the jet had been descending at 20,000ft a minute and most likely slammed into the ground at a speed of around 340 mph, meaning that the aircraft would've shattered upon impact."The energy transfer breaks apart the aircraft fuselage," DeWitt Ingram, a Learjet type-rated captain and founder and president of Par-Avion Group Aviation Consulting, told local outlet CBS 12 News, adding that the only remaining parts of the plane will likely be the landing gear or engine components.Meanwhile, aviation attorney Zachary Gorwitz gave a similar analysis to the Miami Herald, saying that the 'incredible force of the impact' meant the lack of debris was 'really not surprising'.The frightening crash was captured on dashcam footage (X)Cockpit audio releasedAudio from the plane's cockpit was shared online moments after the crash, with a female crew member heard issuing a mayday call to Air Traffic Control. We're descending 8,000. Mayday, mayday! We're descending 10,000 feet per minute. Declaring emergency 722 Bravo Delta. We are in an overspeed condition, descending 20,000 feet per minute," the crew member can be heard saying. "We're going to crash into the ground."We are descending 22,000 feet, and we are banking 60 degrees... Look outside. Holy f**k, we're out of time."(LADbible/FlightRadar/Saul Martinez/Getty Images)Weather may have played a role in plane crashThe crew member had also mentioned the presence of 'severe icing' during the plane's final moments, leading people to speculate whether or not this had caused the fatal crash."When an aircraft flies through clouds containing supercooled water droplets, those droplets can freeze on contact with the aircraft," Justin Crabbe, commercial pilot CEO at Jettly, a global private aviation broker platform, told LADbible."Even a relatively small amount of ice can significantly affect how an aircraft flies and how turbulence can also impact an aircraft."Severe icing means ice is accumulating at a rate that the aircraft's anti-icing or de-icing systems may not be able to adequately manage."Ice changes the shape of the wings, reduces lift, increases drag and can make the aircraft much more difficult to control."Featured Image Credit: XTopics: US News, Travel

Teen Escapes After Alleged Kidnapping by Unlicensed Cabbie Released in U.S. Under Biden

See more of our coverage in your search results. Heart-stopping recently released surveillance video shows a teen girl fleeing her alleged kidnapper after being repeatedly stabbed by him – and it’s since emerged he entered the US illegally during the Biden administration and was arrested by the NYPD just months before the “heinous crime.”The dramatic footage shows the unidentified girl, 15, running with “no shoes or clothes” on from the Baltimore basement being rented out by unlicensed cabbie Abubakarr Barrie, Fox45 reported, citing charging documents.Sierra Leone native Barrie, 23, entered the US illegally in 2023 and was released into the community by the Biden administration after being arrested by Border Patrol, DHS said.He allegedly kidnapped the girl and stabbed her “all over the body” on Oct. 22 in what feds have branded a “heinous crime” – some three months after New York officials refused to honor an ICE detainer after he was busted for possession of a forged instrument.A girl, 15, fled the Maryland basement being rented out by her alleged kidnapper. WBFF FOX45 BaltimoreDespite sustaining injuries to her chest, ear, shoulder, back and ribs, the girl managed to escape the property – with her daring bid for freedom being captured on the homeowner’s surveillance cameras. The girl fled from the basement at 8:52 p.m. – 43 minutes after arriving with Barrie.“I just see her bolt, like she just opens the door and runs,” the unidentified homeowner told Fox45, describing what he saw.Cops came across the wounded girl around a mile from the home – and she told investigators that Barrie “immediately became violent” and put her in a headlock after advising him he was going in the wrong direction when she had instructed him to drive to a take-out.They drove to the property where Barrie was renting a room before he “pushed her down a tiny set of steps leading into the home, led her into a tiny room and advised her to put her phone down and not to scream,” according to the documents. The girl and the suspect, identified as Abubakarr Barrie, were seen going into the basement. WBFF FOX45 BaltimoreThey scuffled before Barrie “began stabbing [the girl] all over her body, so she said she began scratching and clawing” at her attacker, the documents added. The minor found a fire extinguisher in the basement, bashing Barrie with it, before managing to escape the property.Barrie was arrested on Oct. 24 and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping – and an ICE detainer has since been lodged.Barrie entered the US illegally during the Biden Administration, Homeland Security said. Baltimore Police DepartmentDHS noted he was arrested in New York City in July on charges of possession of a forged instrument. But Big Apple “sanctuary politicians” refused to honor an ICE detainer that was issued, Homeland Security said.DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has since blasted Biden and Big Apple officials.“This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies,” he said.“First, Biden’s open borders let this monster into our country, then sanctuary politicians in New York refused to hand him over to ICE and released him after a previous arrest three months before this horrific crime. “DHS is urging Baltimore County authorities to learn from sanctuary New York’s mistakes, honor ICE’s detainer against this illegal alien, and prevent him from harming any more Americans.”
