Christa Pike Speaks Out on Painful Recovery After Surviving Botched Execution

Updated 13:32 30 Oct 2026 GMTPublished 13:20 30 Oct 2026 GMTbreaking'My body hurts, my arms hurt, my hands hurt', she saidChrista Pike has spoken out 30 days after her botched execution in Tennessee, revealing she has been in constant pain ever since the failed procedure. The killer, 50, defied the odds in extraordinary circumstances, surviving an execution attempt that was supposed to end her life on September 30.Instead, Pike was rushed to hospital for life-saving treatment, and has now spoken out for the first time since the historic attempt to end her life.Having regained consciousness just days after receiving the lethal injection, Pike says her entire body is in pain following the ordeal, including her mind.Advert"There hasn’t been a moment since that night when I haven’t been in pain," she said, in a statement issued by her legal team."My body hurts. My arms hurt. My hands hurt. My throat hurts. I still struggle to speak. And the pain isn’t just physical. There is pain in my mind and in my soul."The death row inmate added: "I am recovering, and I know that I am getting stronger. But healing is not the same as being okay."Pike was 18 years old when she murdered 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. (TDOC)Prior to losing consciousness on the fateful day, her attorneys say that she complained her arms were 'burning' as officials tried to kill her via the lethal injection drug, pentobarbital.Speaking about life in the weeks after the failed attempt, Pike added: "I had not contemplated life beyond that night. And I’m deeply hurt by the incompetence that has put so many people in this terrible position."Following the ordeal, a department spokesperson said that officials administering the injection had 'followed every step of the State’s lawful, established execution protocol approved by the Attorney General’s Office' and that 'the lethal injection chemical in the protocol has consistently been effective'.Every execution scheduled to take place in the state this year has now been delayed. She survived two doses of the lethal injection. (WTVF)While Pike's fate remains uncertain, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee addressed the case earlier this week, refusing to rule out the possibility that the inmate could face another execution attempt.Speaking with reporters, he said: "I suspect her sentence will be the same as before, unless determined otherwise by the courts."Pike was found guilty of the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, a fellow student at a Job Corps training centre in Knoxville, Tennessee, more than three decades ago.She was sentenced to death in 1996, becoming the youngest woman on death row in the US at the time.Featured Image Credit: Christa Pike's legal teamTopics: Christa Pike, US News, Crime, Death Row

She actually earned it and, if you ask me, she deserved it because she worked really, really hard and didn’t even ask for that car,” Tarek said.Tarek El Moussa defended giving his 16-year-old daughter, Taylor, a $150,000 BMW while appearing on the “Money Rehab” podcast Wednesday (as seen here). Money Rehab with Nicole LapinThe HGTV star said Taylor “earned” the car because she got a 4.2 GPA and is the MVP of her freshman soccer team. Money Rehab with Nicole LapinThe television personality noted Taylor would have “been happy with a used Honda,” but the BMW was actually more for his peace of mind.“That thing is built like a tank,” he marveled, adding, “She’s in a safe car, and she loves it.”Tarek insisted that his daughter was not “a spoiled brat,” and that he was already being responsible about her financial future by investing her in stocks and real estate her whole life.“She was flying in private jets when she was like, 1 years old, OK, so this kid, she’s grown up around things,” he pointed out. “So when I grew up, I didn’t have anything, right? Giocatori Juventus critici su Spalletti: troppa teoria, poca pratica in allenamento New

Giocatori Juventus critici su Spalletti: troppa teoria, poca pratica in allenamento

The Simpsons Halloween Episode Includes Accidental Link to Explicit Content New

The Simpsons Halloween Episode Includes Accidental Link to Explicit Content

Published 12:20 30 Oct 2026 GMTOne mischief maker took advantage of a URL that featured in the The Simpsons spooky special Fans of The Simpsons got quite the fright after visiting a website that was featured in the latest episode. It wouldn't be Halloween without us having a new Treehouse of Horror to sink our teeth into and the 36th instalment of this spooky special aired on Fox earlier this week. But this year, it's not the plot of the episode that has left people aghast, but rather the inclusion of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it gag in Matt Groening's sitcom which has now taken on a life of its own. The latest episode of The Simpsons aired on Sunday (25 October), ensuring that fans of the show had plenty of time to enjoy it before the weekend. AdvertThe synopsis for Treehouse of Horror XXXVII explains: "In this year's extra-scary, ultra-spooky Treehouse of Horror, Marge gets a horrifying new perspective on marriage; Bart and Santa's Little Helper embark on a bone-chilling adventure; and Homer takes a driving lesson." The annual Halloween special first aired on Sunday (Fox)At one point during the episode, Lisa and Bart head to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as they attempt to track down Homer. They arrive to find the building in darkness, however, there was a sign outside which offered some further instructions about how to get in touch. In what is believed to be a gag about some of the shortcomings of the government agency that is the DMV, the sign read: "Visit our website at our-website-is-broken.org." Most people probably laughed at this sarcastic URL and moved swiftly on - but one viewer decided to take it as an opportunity to cause some mischief. Typically, TV and film studios will register the domain names of websites or social media handles that appear on-screen, so that other folks don't lay claim to them. One eagle-eyed viewer spotted the URL and decided to take advantage of the domain being unregistered (Fox)But it appears that the team behind The Simpsons dropped the ball on this one, as 'our-website-is-broken.org' was still up for grabs. So, a prankster opted to take advantage of this oversight by asserting ownership of this domain - and launching a website featuring what social media users have described as 'Simpsons porn'. A host of inquisitive viewers visited the link after tuning into Treehouse of Horror XXXVII and got the shock of their life, as topless images of Marge Simpson’s sisters, Patty and Selma, flashed on their screens. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this content was a lot more unsettling that anything that was featured in The Simpsons Halloween special. According to one X user, it also repeated '67' if you visited the website and turned the volume up, before 'many more pictures splashed on screen'. 'A grand mistake'Needless to say, some viewers won't be able to look at Patty and Selma the same ever again. Discussing the debacle online, one social media user said: "The link in this scene brings you to straight up jiggling yellow Simpsons boobs...what."Another joked: "Man, I really shouldn't have used my work computer to check that."A third added: They made a grand mistake not purchasing the domain beforehand. How did they assume nobody was going to do this?"A fourth dubbed it 'diabolical', while a fifth asked: "An OFFICIAL Simpsons episode that has a link to a bunch of Simpsons porn is absolutely psychotic. How did such a thing even happen?" Fans of The Simpsons said that the URL has since been scrubbed from the episode - and it appears as though the website is no longer active. The bizarre site featured explicit images of Marge's sisters (Fox)LADbible has contacted Fox for comment. A similar situation unfolded following the release of the 2002 romcom About A Boy, as a URL titled 'supermodelswithseethroughtops.com' appeared while Hugh Grant was browsing his computer. Thankfully, this site simply displays a snap of the Popemobile on it - and the bloke who took advantage of this domain remaining unclaimed, known as JR, explained what motivated him. "I checked to see if it was a real site, and I was surprised that it wasn’t registered," he told Film Stories in 2023. "I don’t know if the filmmakers thought it was too long to be real or just didn’t care. I registered it."He went on to explain that he initially 'wasn't sure' what to display on the website, adding: "I considered putting some joke about a Hugh Grant scandal, but then thought the Pope has a super model of car with a see through top so I put up the popemobile.""I thought maybe I could make money with ads on it, but it just seemed too pure of a joke to spoil with anything additional, so it’s just been out there on the internet as a public service for 20 years now."Featured Image Credit: FoxTopics: Adult Industry, The Simpsons, Halloween, Weird, TV and Film

Nessun "freddo polare", come spiega a Fanpage.it il Colonnello e meteorologo Mario Giuliacci.

Mile 18: The Surprising Breaking Point for NYC Marathon Runners New

Mile 18: The Surprising Breaking Point for NYC Marathon Runners

See more of our coverage in your search results. This is where they admit de feet. Mile 18 has proven to be the toughest point of the New York City Marathon — and is where quitters are statistically inclined to rip off their racing bibs and give up, The Post has learned.Dubbed “The Wall,” the 7-block stretch of Upper East Side combines a perfect storm of factors to drive even dedicated runners to abandon their dreams — including a lack of crowds cheering you, a distance where the body starts to break down and, even, the convenience of being in Manhattan. The highest number of marathon runners quit between Mile 18 and the 30K mark, Road Runners data shows. G.N. Miller/New York Post“You go through Brooklyn — which is an insane adrenaline rush and amazing experience — you go through Queens, which is great, then when you come off of the 59th Street Bridge, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before,” said Annie Reeves, who ran her first marathon in 2023.“You go to all of these phases of amazing, unmatched energy where people are pulling you through. And Mile 18 is a low point.”Last year, 203 runners gave up the ghost between mile 18 and kilometer 30, which is 18.6 miles, making it the area with the highest loss of runners on the course, according to Road Runners data. That stretch lies along a fairly quiet area of First Avenue between 96th to 103rd streets, which is littered with parking lots, sports fields and municipal buildings rather than apartments. It’s where the wall-to-wall crowds begin to thin out and runners face comparative silence — especially coming off the heels of the deafening roars that greeted them off the Queensboro Bridge just two miles prior. It also precedes the steepest ramp of the course just before Mile 20 — the Willis Avenue Bridge — for the race’s brief foray into The Bronx.Road Runners coach Steve Mura offers racers advice for pushing through to the finish line. Donald Pearsall / NY Post DesignAnd while many runners traditionally count the hill at mile 20 as the proverbial “wall,” recent data tells a different story.Mile 18, which is just 70% into the race, has proven to be the most common give-up point throughout the sprawling, five-borough course across the most recent decades.“It’s likely that runners who are having tough days decide to cut their marathon short and wait until they’re back in a convenient location in Manhattan to drop out,” Road Runners told The Post. It may be no coincidence that the start of the stretch is a block from the Second Avenue subway. The thinning crowds turn the race into a “mental game,” said Annie Reeves. Annie ReevesBut Omar Medjid, founder of the World’s Fair Run Crew, theorizes that the pain of Mile 18 is universal regardless of the course.“That’s when you start looking at your watch, you’re kind of panicking and you’re just saying, ‘Okay, am I going to hit my goal time? Is my pace dropping?’ You start to feel it in your body versus the actual data,” said Medjid, 33, of College Point, who ran the NYC Marathon in 2024.“You’re already tired from hitting the bridge and everything, then you know you still got that long stretch of Fifth Avenue to go. A lot of mental was really what it would be, but I do think it’s mainly based on the actual mile rather than exactly where it is.”What pulled Medjid through was seeing his friends and fellow running community members along the route — which helped him remember why he was running the race.“Remember your why” is a major piece of advice Road Runners coach Steve Mura offers racers when pushing through “The Wall” and toward the finish line.Omar Medjid theorizes that Mile 18 is the hardest part regardless of the course. Dan Chen“Before the race, write it on your hand. Why did you sign up? When those moments get hard, and it will get hard, look down at your hand,” said Mura, the organizer’s director for Runner Training and Education.“Think about the next mile, not the remaining eight.”Pack plenty of fuel, keep your eyes peeled for water stations and use the cheering crowds to your advantage, he continued.
