Kelly Clarkson disputes Brooklyn store’s claim, says bird was priced at $15,000

See more of our coverage in your search results. Kelly Clarkson is definitely not in the mood to play.Clarkson snapped back on X within hours: “Cool, cool. Sure, it wasn’t for sale. That’s the narrative Art of Play is gonna go with.”Kelly Clarkson clapped back in the latest social media exchange involving her experience at a Brooklyn store. Getty Images for SiriusXMClarkson wanted to buy an animated bird (seen here) at the store, but allegedly was treated as if she could not afford to purchase it. The store is saying now that the bird was never for sale. Instagram/artofplay“So the whole conversation we had when I asked you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the price tag hanging on the wall with the title Singing Bird didn’t happen as you elevator eyed me saying in a condescending tone “yes, it’s for sale but it costs 15,000 dollars so if you’d like me to find something comparable for you I can,'” Clarkson added. “That all never happened and now it’s not for sale. Okay, cool. So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it.”Clarkson also addressed that the store owners — by their own admission in their post — were “suddenly attacked by 8 million people” and having a “surreal experience” to the reaction from her fans. Clarkson took to X to refute the claim the bird was not for sale, writing that she was told it was “$15,000” and it was suggested that she might want something cheaper instead. Twitter/kellyclarksonArt of Play (seen above) expressed dismay that Clarkson’s more than 8 million followers were now allegedly attacking the store. Art of Play“By the way, I obviously support small businesses because I was literally at a small business trying to purchase things. I love small businesses and know they are important and I always support them, but you don’t get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business. It’s not that hard to be kind. I never blast people but you my friend were an exception.” “Your store is really cool,” she concluded. “Unfortunately, you aren’t.”Clarkson first criticized the store on Saturday for her negative shopping experience, likening herself to Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman.”“Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me,” she shared on X.Clarkson wrote that she supports small businesses, but that “you don’t get a free pass to treat people less than.” Her original post discussing the incident is seen above. kellyclarkson/X“You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale,” Clarkson wrote. Getty Images for Live Nation Las Vegas“Wow, dude,” the “American Idol” winner continued, seemingly calling out a specific associate she’d interacted with. “You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.”Clarkson concluded her post by telling her 8.8 million followers on the social media platform: “But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out.”In addition to their explanation regarding the singing bird, Art of Play noted on their social media in response: “At Art of Play, whether someone comes in to make a purchase or simply look around for a while, they are equally welcome,” adding thanks to their supporters and a note that many people “stay for hours enjoying our puzzles, games and toys.” Community GuidelinesWelcome to the Page Six Community! Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations. Avoiding Difficult Conversations May Leave Couples More Vulnerable, Sexologist Says New

Avoiding Difficult Conversations May Leave Couples More Vulnerable, Sexologist Says

The secret to a happier, longer-lasting marriage may involve much more than chemistry and compatibility.Recent research published in the journal Family Process found that improvements in communication and emotional safety were linked to greater relationship satisfaction.Maintaining that connection takes effort, particularly as couples settle into routines and begin to feel as though they already know everything about each other, according to Tammy Nelson, Ph.D., a board-certified sexologist, sex therapist and integrative relationship therapist in Los Angeles.“Compatibility can feel different to different people at different times,” she told Fox News Digital. “The relationship will go through developmental stages just like you do.”From losing curiosity to avoiding difficult conversations, Nelson shared five common mistakes that can weaken a couple’s connection and ways to avoid them.No. 1: Assuming you know everything about your partnerLosing curiosity about a partner can chip away at attraction over time, according to Nelson.“That’s how we fall in love, when someone’s curious about us,” she said. “When they come along and say, ‘I’m so interested in you. I’m curious about you.’“We’re attracted to something in the space in between us — not so much when it’s sitting next to us on the couch every night, and so we tend to lose that curiosity.”Married couples make five mistakes in their marriage they don’t realize they’re doing, according to a sexologist. fizkes – stock.adobe.comWhile someone may feel they know everything about their partner — “what they like to eat, what they’d like to watch on TV, what they might like in bed” — those preferences can evolve over time, Nelson said.“Don’t put your partner in a box,” Nelson said, urging couples to stay curious and ask questions. “Who are they becoming? What are they thinking? What do they desire? What’s their vision for the future?”The therapist suggested losing curiosity about a partner can sometimes make attention from someone outside the relationship particularly appealing.“That’s why we have affairs, right? Somebody comes along, and they’re fascinated by us,” she said. “We love that. And it’s why we pay a therapist, so someone will ask questions about us.”No. 2: Avoiding difficult conversationsAvoiding difficult conversations — and failing to pay attention to what goes unsaid — can create problems in a relationship, Nelson cautioned.“Pay attention to what you’re not talking about and why,” she advised. When it comes to relationship problems, couples who avoid conflict may be more vulnerable than those who openly disagree.“It’s not the people who fight and communicate all the time. It’s the people who aren’t fighting, aren’t arguing, aren’t communicating,” the expert said.Board-certified sexologist Tammy Nelson revealed maintaining a connection takes effort. Fox News DigitalNelson encouraged couples to notice which topics make them pull back or shut down during conflict — such as money or sex — and instead make an effort to lean into those difficult discussions.“You’re probably avoiding it because you don’t want to get into a conflict, which is totally legitimate, but maybe pay attention to those spaces where there could be more room for communicating,” she advised.No. 3: Focusing on what’s wrong with your sex lifeWhen couples talk about sex, focusing on complaints rather than what is working can make intimacy more difficult, according to Nelson.“The key here is not to talk about what’s not working or what your partner’s not doing or why you’re not doing it more often,” she said. The “magic formula,” Nelson said, is for partners to share what they like and what is working.“The key to the universe is you get more of what you would appreciate,” she said. “If you point out how your partner is not acting the way you want, then you’re in conflict, you’re defensive, you feel bad about yourself. That’s not going to help. It’s not very sexy.”When couples talk about sex, focusing on complaints rather than what is working can make intimacy more difficult, according to Nelson. Kaspars Grinvalds – stock.adobe.comInstead, she recommends focusing on the positive by telling a partner what they’ve liked about their sex life, whether it is something happening now or a meaningful experience from years ago.“Whether you’re a new couple or you’ve been together forever, start with something you appreciate, and then something that you would like more of,” she suggested. “Expand on what’s already working.”No. 4: Getting stuck in ‘maintenance mode’Another potential mistake is allowing the everyday responsibilities of life to crowd out opportunities for growth and excitement.Nelson encouraged couples to consider whether their relationship is primarily in “maintenance mode” or “expansion mode.”Maintenance mode involves managing the everyday responsibilities of a shared life, which Nelson said is essential.“You know, we need to pay the bills. We need to make sure the air conditioner is working,” she said. “We need maintenance in a relationship, just like you need maintenance at a job or just in life. But you also need expansion.”Another potential mistake is allowing the everyday responsibilities of life to crowd out opportunities for growth and excitement. Goran – stock.adobe.comExpansion mode, meanwhile, involves trying new things together and finding ways to keep the relationship exciting. If there’s too much maintenance and not enough expansion, one or both partners could get bored and feel stuck, Nelson cautioned.“On the other hand, if there’s too much expansion, you’re going to feel like you’re always doing something new and there’s no rest and maybe not enough connection.“All relationships need freedom and connection.”No. 5: Keeping feelings of connection to yourselfCouples may also miss opportunities for connection when they feel affection toward their partner but don’t express it, according to Nelson. She encouraged couples to notice the positive emotions and physical sensations they experience when thinking about their partner and to share those feelings with each other.“Where in your heart or in your body are you feeling the most ‘juice,’ the most ‘aliveness,’ when you think about your partner?” she asked. Some people are more aware of these physical sensations than others, Nelson acknowledged.“But if you can put your hand on your heart or on your stomach or your shoulders and say, ‘You know, when I think about you, I get this warm feeling in my heart,’ that’s all you have to share with your partner. And sometimes that means everything to them.”Ultimately, Nelson emphasized that avoiding these common pitfalls comes down to ongoing attention, curiosity and a willingness to keep discovering new things about each other.

8 Reasons Two People Remember the Same Argument Differently New

8 Reasons Two People Remember the Same Argument Differently

1. Attention records different parts of the same exchangeMemory begins with attention, and people rarely notice every detail equally. During a disagreement, one person may focus on the criticism while the other concentrates on explaining a decision. Later, each recalls what received the most attention. For example, “You dismissed my concern” and “I explained the deadline three times” can both reflect the same conversation. This does not make every account equally accurate; it explains why sincere recollections may contain different pieces.2. Strong emotion can narrow what gets encodedHigh emotional arousal can pull attention toward whatever feels most threatening or important, leaving surrounding details weakly encoded. Someone may remember a partner’s sharp tone but not the question that came immediately before it. The other person may remember the question and overlook their tone. Emotion does not automatically make a memory false, nor does it guarantee accuracy. It often produces an uneven record: certain moments become vivid while context becomes harder to retrieve.3. People often retain meaning better than exact wordingMemory commonly preserves the gist of speech rather than a word-for-word transcript. After hearing, “I’m not sure that plan will work,” someone might later remember, “You said my idea was bad.” The remembered sentence captures their interpretation, not necessarily the original wording. This distinction matters when arguments hinge on a particular phrase. Asking, “Do you remember those exact words, or is that what they meant to you?” can separate literal recall from remembered meaning without dismissing the emotional impact.4. Expectations shape how ambiguous behaviour is interpretedExisting beliefs help the mind interpret incomplete information, but they can also tilt memory. If someone already expects a colleague to be dismissive, a brief reply such as “Fine” may be encoded as contemptuous. Another person might remember it as hurried but neutral. These expectations, sometimes called schemas, organise experience rather than simply inventing it. Checking concrete details—timing, words and visible actions—helps distinguish what occurred from the interpretation added to an ambiguous moment.5. Intentions and impact create different memory anchorsSpeakers often remember what they intended to communicate, while listeners remember how the message affected them. A manager may recall trying to give efficient feedback; an employee may recall being criticised in front of the team. Intention does not erase impact, and impact does not prove a specific intention. When reconstructing the exchange, use both accounts: “I meant to clarify the error” and “It felt humiliating because others were present” describe different psychologically important parts of one event.6. Later information can become mixed with the original eventMemories can absorb details encountered after an argument, especially when their source is unclear. Suppose a friend says, “It sounds like she was mocking you.” Days later, that interpretation may feel like part of the original exchange rather than the friend’s commentary. This is a source-monitoring problem: the detail is familiar, but its origin is misidentified. Reviewing messages or notes made close to the event can help, although written records may still omit tone, gestures and context.7. Repeated retelling can strengthen one version of eventsEach retelling selects some details and leaves out others. Over time, the rehearsed version becomes easier to retrieve, which can make it feel especially complete and certain. For instance, repeatedly describing an argument as “the night he ignored me” may strengthen moments of silence while weakening memories of attempted explanations. Retelling does not necessarily mean deliberate distortion; storytelling requires selection. A useful check is to ask what details have remained uncertain or disappeared from the familiar account.8. Confidence in a memory is not proof of accuracyA memory can feel vivid and certain without functioning like a recording. Confidence may grow through repetition, emotional intensity or agreement from others, none of which independently verifies every detail. Two people can therefore be equally certain and still disagree about who spoke first. When accuracy matters, separate confidence from corroboration: compare dated messages, meeting notes or neutral witnesses. External evidence has limits, but it is usually more useful than deciding that the most forceful recollection must be correct.
