Nach 561 Dooring-Unfällen: SP-Nationalrat will den Holländergriff gesetzlich vorschreiben New

SNS Group via Getty ImagesThe “Basic Instinct” actor’s new life plans come after he recently released his new memoir, “One Helluva Ride,” in which he looks back at his colorful personal life and legendary career.Remembering his time as a struggling actor in New York City, he told us about when he shared a tiny Upper West Side apartment with Danny DeVito.“It was a one-bedroom; [so] he had to open up the couch in the living room,” Douglas told us of the “Matilda” actor. However, DeVito was already dating Rhea Perlman at the time, so he wasn’t in the apartment that often.Douglas (pictured here in October 2025) also told us he wants to travel more. His eldest son, 47-year-old Cameron, has also dealt with addiction issues, which resulted in a seven-year prison sentence.Douglas told us that cocaine use was “running rampant” in his heyday, adding, “Almost every show you did, the prop man was the guy to go to.”As for why he chose to be so open about his drug use in his book, he said he wanted to share his experience now that he’s older and wiser.“Having a little age behind me and looking back at it and realizing it was a really ridiculous drug and consumed a lot of people, my son included and a lot of others,” he reflected. “My little beware tale in terms of my experiences.”The “Fatal Attraction” star told Page Six that Zeta-Jones is in the midst of reading his new memoir, “One Helluva Ride.” catherinezetajones/InstagramDouglas (seen here earlier this month) delves into his drug use and secret affairs in his new book, which was released on Oct. 6. 7 Memory Distortions That Make Arguments Harder to Resolve New

7 Memory Distortions That Make Arguments Harder to Resolve

1. Stress narrows attention to the apparent threatDuring conflict, attention often locks onto whatever feels most threatening: a raised voice, a cutting phrase or the possibility of rejection. Other details may never be encoded clearly enough to remember later. One person recalls, “You called me irresponsible,” while missing the explanation that followed; the other remembers the explanation and barely registers the insult. This is not necessarily dishonesty. They may have attended to different moments, although stress affects people and situations differently.2. Memory rebuilds the exchange instead of replaying itMemory is reconstructive: people retain fragments and rebuild the event using context, expectations and later information. That process can produce a coherent account without producing an exact transcript. After a tense discussion about money, “Can we reconsider this purchase?” may later be remembered as “You said I waste money,” especially if that matches an existing concern. Treating recollection as a summary rather than a recording makes it easier to compare specific words, actions and interpretations separately.3. Your interpretation can become part of the memoryPeople do not store words independently from what those words seemed to mean. Over time, the interpretation may become difficult to distinguish from the original statement. If a partner says, “I need tonight alone,” someone might later recall, “You said you did not want me around.” The feeling of rejection is real, but the remembered wording may be an inference. Asking, “What was actually said, and what did I take it to mean?” helps separate two important layers.4. Later retellings can quietly change the original accountEach retelling selects certain details and leaves out others. Repeated versions can then influence what feels like the original memory, particularly when friends supply interpretations. “She interrupted me twice” might gradually become “She never let me speak” after several conversations centred on disrespect. The broader claim may capture the speaker’s experience, but it is less precise. Writing down key details soon after an important dispute can preserve an earlier account, though notes are still one person’s perspective.5. Repeated claims can feel more familiar and credibleRepetition increases familiarity, and familiarity can sometimes be mistaken for evidence. In a long-running disagreement, saying “You always cancel plans” many times may make the claim feel increasingly established, even when both people have stopped checking particular occasions. A useful reset is to replace the repeated summary with examples: which plans, on what dates and under what circumstances? This does not reduce relationships to bookkeeping; it tests whether a broad pattern is accurate enough to discuss fairly.6. Knowing the outcome reshapes what seemed obvious earlierHindsight bias makes an outcome appear more predictable after it happens. Once a dinner ends badly, both people may remember warning signs as clearer than they were: “I knew you were angry the moment we arrived.” Before the argument, the same quietness might have looked like tiredness or distraction. Distinguishing “I noticed something” from “I correctly understood it” prevents present knowledge from rewriting earlier uncertainty. Clear signals can exist, but outcomes often make ambiguous signals look decisive.7. Confidence reveals conviction, not necessarily precise recallA vivid memory can feel certain because it is emotionally important, frequently rehearsed or consistent with someone’s broader understanding. Confidence alone does not establish exact accuracy. Two colleagues may each firmly remember who approved a deadline, yet the email record may contradict both accounts. When details matter, consult messages, calendars or shared notes without treating the record as a weapon. External evidence can settle logistics while leaving emotional questions—such as whether someone felt pressured—open for separate discussion.

6 Ways Two People Can Remember the Same Conversation Differently New

6 Ways Two People Can Remember the Same Conversation Differently

1. Attention determines which details enter memory at allMemory cannot preserve information that received little attention in the first place. During a conversation, each person may focus on different cues because of their role, concerns or surroundings. A manager might concentrate on a missed deadline, while an employee notices the manager’s impatient tone. Later, both can accurately recall what they attended to while overlooking the rest. Their accounts may conflict without either person deliberately changing the story.2. The main meaning often outlasts the exact wordingPeople commonly retain the gist of a conversation longer than its precise sentences. That is efficient, but it can turn an implication into a remembered statement. If someone says, “We may need to rethink your responsibilities,” the listener might later recall, “You said I was losing my role.” The emotional meaning was similar, but the wording was not. When exact language matters, contemporary notes or written follow-ups are more dependable than confident recollection.3. Expectations shape how ambiguous remarks are understoodMemory begins with interpretation, not with neutral recording. The same vague comment can acquire different meanings depending on what each person already expects. “That was an interesting choice” may sound curious to one listener and critical to another who anticipates disapproval. Each person may later remember a tone consistent with that initial reading. This does not mean expectations invent everything, but they can influence which interpretation becomes attached to the event.4. Emotion highlights some moments while obscuring othersStrong emotion can make a conversation feel unforgettable without preserving every part equally well. Attention may narrow around the most threatening, embarrassing or relieving moment. During an argument, someone might vividly remember being called “careless” yet barely encode the explanation that followed. The speaker may remember the explanation because it was their main point. Emotional intensity can therefore increase confidence in selected details while leaving the wider sequence incomplete.5. Later information can reshape an earlier recollectionRemembering is partly reconstructive: people rebuild an event using stored fragments and current knowledge. New information can become mixed with the original conversation. Suppose a colleague later resigns; an earlier remark such as “I need a change” may now seem like an obvious announcement, although it sounded casual at the time. The later event supplies a clearer narrative. Asking what someone believed immediately afterward can help separate the original impression from hindsight.6. Repeated retelling can strengthen one version of eventsEach retelling selects details, organizes causes and leaves other material unused. Over time, the rehearsed version can become easier to retrieve than the messier original. A person who repeatedly tells friends, “She dismissed my idea,” may remember that summary more readily than the mixed response: initial criticism followed by partial agreement. Retelling does not automatically make a memory false, but fluency can feel like proof. A familiar account is not necessarily a complete one.

100 Surnames Linked to Royal Lineages in a Historic Genealogy Book New

100 Surnames Linked to Royal Lineages in a Historic Genealogy Book

In this new age of modern technology, genealogy and a plethora of online heritage and ancestry sites, it's now easier than ever to trace back your roots to distant relatives from times gone by.And it's clear people are interested in a whole lot more than just their great-great-grandparents, as many appear to have wondered from time to time whether they could, in fact, be related to royalty.Family History Daily has made the hunt for tracing back your possibly royal family tree lineage that bit easier after compiling a list of 100 surnames that could mean you've got blue blood in you!The ancestry site has cited Charles H. Browning's 1891 book titled Americans of Royal Descent, which includes hundreds of surnames and documents the royal family trees of these individuals in detail.AdvertCould you have any blue blood in your family tree? (Catherine Falls Commercial / Getty Images)Out of those hundreds, Family History Daily has compiled a list of just 100 names; however, it's important to note that Browning's text isn't the only (or most updated) source of information on the aristocratic lineages of early Americans. But, before we jot down the extensive list, it's important to note that while it may be exciting to see your surname below, you'll need to do a whole lot more additional research to make any concrete conclusions as all information really should be be verified and properly sourced before it can be considered a legitimate addition to your family tree. So, without further ado, let's get into it...Is your surname below? (Chris Jackson / Staff / Getty Images)Last names that could have royal bloodAbelAldenAppletonAyerBarberBarclayBeverlyBinneyBrookeBrownCampbellCarrollChaunceyColemanCooperDavisDickinsonDarlingDouglasDunbarEdwardsElleryEllisEmmettEvansFarleyFlemingForestFrenchGardinerGeorgeGerardGerryGibsonGrahamHamiltonHaynesHerbertHillHowardHumeIrvingJacksonJamesJenkinsJohnsonKaneKennedyKerKeyKingLangdonLawrenceLeeLeonardLivingstonLloydMcCallMcDonaldMalcalesterMontgomeryMorrisMortonNelsonNicholsonNixonNorrisO’CarrollOgleOpieParsonsPattersonPeabodyPomeroyPorterPrattPrestonQuayRandolphReadReeveRobinsonRogersSanfordShawSmithSowdenStanleyTaylorTownsendTurnerTylerValentineVarsonWalkerWattsWhiteWhitingWilliams. (Mark Cuthbert / Contributor / Getty Images)OK, as we say, having one of these 'royal last names' doesn't necessarily mean you definitely have royal ancestry and, likewise, if you or one of your ancestors' surnames isn't on Browning's list, then it also doesn't mean that you don’t have royal ancestry. The long and short of it simply is that this is just a small sample of once-royal last names - but it's fun to have a look through regardless!
